State monopolies were sold, tariffs and barriers were dropped, they unregulated foreign investment, privatised the banking sector, etc. At first there was a decline in the GDP and a drop in real wages as the economy adjusted to the reforms. Sadly they kept a fixed exchange rate which gave us a recession in 82. From 84 the GDP grew an average of 8% till 99(-1%) since then in has been steady at 6-7%. (not inc. 09 GFC).

As for the despicable things they did to people whose only crime was that they were professing a different economic model..Well what can you say to that, its a bloody and permanent stain on our glorious military. NO need for a coup . The government of Allende was falling apart. Hyperinflation, food shortages, transport strikes, capital fleeing, social disintegration to name but a few. I lived through it and it was a nightmare. This man only had 36% support. I doubt that he would have finished his term, since by '74 or '75 the country would have come to a standstill. I'm a conservative free market person, but I don't support the coup. It is a bloody and dishonorable stain on our military and our history.

Yes. Gas chambers were used in the Americas before. But never in Europe. The Fabianists were the first to ever come up with the idea of a humane gas and giant chambers where they would run through those whom they consider unfit.
From there, it quickly spread to Nazi Germany, Croatia and North-Korea.

They blasted the whole factory (I've just watched a 2 hour documentary about the Hindenburg, which ended with the blasting of the whole building complex, 4 days after the incident in Lakehurst, so I should know) and laid of everyone. he last request to extradite Rauff to West Germany was presented by renowned Nazi hunter Beate Klarsfeld in 1983, but was flatly rejected by the Pinochet government, which alleged that Rauff had been a peaceful Chilean citizen for over 20 years and that the case was closed since the Supreme Court's 1963 decision. The authorities instead arrested Klarsfeld twice in Santiago de Chile.
Admit this Pinochet was simply a bad man.

Even today's German government is into the privatization of certain key industries. And they are anything but pro-capitalist. If anything, they are corporatist.
It's simply tactics. You privatize the factories and still keep control of them (through the officers of a conveniently integrated work camp*).
