  • Hey man,

Is this the DM5 module? can you only add Alesis stuff with it, or other electronic kit stuff.

I'm not very good with eletronic kits

  • @tommy2good1 I'm using the Roland TD-6 Module for most of this kit. The only thing the DM5 is doing is the cowbell.

You can mix other stuff with the alesis kit.

  • what is that cymbal called on the top left?

    where do you get it?

  • @alfster48 Hart Dynamics Ecymbal. Quite a few online music retailers carry them.

  • Can you put other drum heads on the alesis?

for example remo drum heads or muffled heads

  • @Skiddymushroom

Yes you can use any 8" drum head. In this video and currently I have Pearl muffle heads.

  • Hey what heads are those? Those look like some i have seen but i cant place the name. They make the acoustic noise quieter right? something like 6.99 a piece??

  • @xBMXer22x

    Pearl Muffle heads.

  • @wildcat183 Ahhh yes, thanks, i might invest in those later on.... thanks man...

  • Hey, I have a quick question

What sounds do you use on your DM5? I have exactly the same brains as you But I dont get any of these soudns. Did you download them from somewhere?

  • I'm using a roland TD-6 for this video.

  • what are the black threaded drum pad you use as your toms ? I intended to buy an Alesis DM5 Pro Kit with SURGEcymbal but the pads sounds terrible...

  • Alesis pads with Pearl mesh heads.

  • ok thank you very much =) i'll buy some of these if I buy the Alesis DM5 Pro Kit

  • dude, don't buy the dm5 pro with surge. it's loud, the surge's are not chokable unless you'll buy the alesis trigger io, dm5 module sounds are limited and their tom sounds isn't that good, dm5 module has no aux in. if you can wait and save for a roland kit, that's a way better choice

  • rob11rod, with me it was all about time. I did not have a grand to fork over for the Roland TD4 set, but I wanted to be playing "NOW". So I got the Alesis DM5 pro from americanmusical . com, and they let me pay off the $500 set in 3 payments of $166/month and sent the kit after the first payment. I took wildcat183's advice and found a KILLER deal on Ebay for a mint Roland TD6 head and Roland hi-hat pedal for less than HALF the price of the two new! What a difference the TD6 makes!! ...

  • ... So now I have a BETTER Roland module with the TD6 than I would have had of course with the TD4 I wanted. The TD6 really turns the Alesis into a little monster. The Alesis pads trigger WAY better now! (Sounds crazy huh?) This set sounds GREAT! Now, I have money in my pocket, the TD6 sounds/sensitivity, and will just save for a Roland snare and CY cymble. So, I am jamming now, and will end up with a TD6 kit instead of the TD4. I used the Main (R) OUT to pipe music IN the DM5, worked great...

  • ..it may not be good for the DM5, but I don't use that now, it was only for a few weeks. Now I input into a TD6 correctly! The DM5 still works PERFECTLY after doing that. So, the point is, I will end up with a BETTER kit than the TD4, have cash in my pocket, jam the whole time, sell the DM5 module, and hi-hat pedal & 1 cymbal to help get the rest of the Rolan parts I need on Ebay, and basicly have a TD6 for the price of a TD4, again, while still jamming the WHOLE time! How do you beat that? ;-)

  • i got a budjet of 1000 $ CA what do you suggest instead of the alesis dm5 ?

  • Get a used kit off of Ebay. I'm partial to Roland but Yamaha makes some great kits as well.

  • i am really interested to buy the roland TD4KS with the mesh snare, it sounds good and is in my price range

  • It's a good kit with some good sounds, choking capability and a variable hi hat. Just realize that the TD4 has an integrated wiring harness on the module end. Now that's not really a problem because it still allows for a couple of extra pads to be added (exact # I'm not sure of).

Overall I would say go for it.

  • Another great vid! Getting that double-bass down bro! My set is starting to look like a mirror of yours. The TD6 module has made all the difference in the world! I must say that the Roland hi-hat pedal was a GREAT addition too. As money permits, I just need the dual zone Roland cymbal, then I think I will go with the 10" V-drum snare, that 12" looks nice, but a little too big...is it bothering you at all? Also, my TD6 seems to be very quiet on all 3 toms. 127 on level, and snare on 40. Odd? Kev

  • Thanks.

The 12" doesn't seem to bother me at all. My toms are the same. I also have to have the volume on the bass up higher than the hi hat or snare.

  • what brain where you using, the td3 or dm5? I have the stock dm5 w/surge cymbals. Should I get the td3?

  • I'm using the TD-6 for this. I can't comment to much on the TD-3 because I've only played it for a minute or two in a store and I don't think the store had it set up very well.

  • cool
