The real M16(A2,A3,A4) all have three positions for the saftey selector switch. SAFE, SEMI, BURST (3 shots) if it has full auto capabilities it is either an M16A1 which are no longer manufactured or a civilian AR15(whatever the submodel is) the M4 contrary to call of duty is SAFE, SEMI, BURST as well...

@nickyl88 Actually, my AR15 "A4" is a Colt MT6700 that has has the 1/9 twist barrel turned down from the HBAR to the "govt profile", and a flash suppressor installed. The M16A4 has no fixed aiming apertures. Picitany rails all around with a detachable front sight post if so desired. I couldn't see if that one was detachable or not but if it was fixed then this is an A3. What power scope did you have on the weapon?

The M16A2 is the variant that has a 3 shot burst function, though it can fire full auto as well. The M16A4 is the same thing, but the developers of COD4/MW2 forgot to put in a "select Fire" option. The real gun can fire single,semi,and full auto.

@stefankinasevych true, the ACR is a much better weapon, but look when it was made in comparison to the FAL, and if you want to put someone on there arse and know they ain't getting up, the FAL is a great weapon for the job.
of course. as is any gun that has a hard hitting round. but you dont see soldiers going into CQC with a Barrett XM109 20mm because it will keep someone on their ass. its just impractical to bring a heavy, long barreled, semi-only weapon and use it in an all purpose role, when you could just get a modular assault rifle to do the job.
@stefankinasevych true, but it depends where the weapon is deployed, for somewhere like Iraq or Afghanistan you're gonna want a shorter, faster firing, more controllable weapon like the M4 or SA80. But it a conflict like the Falklands the FAL excelled in the Semi Auto Variant, it was hard wearing, had an excellent effective range, was powerful enough to drop a guy at range even with one hit and was very rarely if ever used in CQB.
modern day battles are mostly fought in streets, but if a situation arises where you need that long range punch then the FAL works very well. unfortunately the FAL is not a very compact weapon and its hard to control. do world superpowers equip their foot soldiers and marines with the FAL semi only version as the standard infantry rifle instead of an assault rifle, LMG, or MMG? nope. plus, in the falklands, british troops often ditched their semi FAL for the argentinian full-auto FAL
@stefankinasevych The British Army has always had an emphasise on good shooting not lots of shooting, which is why we only adopted a full auto weapon in the 80s (SA80A1 <---Crap) Before that they were all bolt action or semi auto. The only reason british troops picked up the argie FAL was because all grunts like to have full auto =P and the folding stock made it much lighter. Many realised that firing it on full auto was pointless and just used it in semi auto only.
ok let me reword my "thesis". in a modern day urban battle fought at close quarters and medium range distances, controllable, accurate, compact, selective fire (rifles), assault rifles and shotguns are ideal. if you only want to snipe, hunt or pick off targets at mid range, grab an FAL semi auto. if you want to kill close quarters and still maintain accuracy at mid ranges, and you want to be inconspicuous, grab a bullpup (not the SA80) or a compact standard assault rifle.
@stefankinasevych you can grab an SA80A2, it's a very very good bit of kit, but yeah, in the modern battlefield an compact assault rifle is the best bet, i'd grab and SA80A2 with an ACOG sight and front grip.
Depends, if you're going up against militia with no body armour then the 5.56 is the balls, but if you're against guys with body armour then consider the M468 or M417, larger calibre (6.8 and 7.62) to make sure you put it through the plate and drop him!

Burst fire and full auto are completely legal. Just fill out the form, pay a tax, and get your transfer approved by the ATF. It's only slightly harder than buying a gun over the counter from an FFL.

@cjamster1 No , I live in AZ, and yes you can own full auto in CA, well YOU can't unless you happened to own one before they clamped down on them, or work in the film industry or something similar. CA has the most registered machine guns of any state in the NFA registry by the way. And not everyone shoots at a range, just like here, in CA there is plenty of open desert to shoot in.

no this is a home made version using an M16 that my brother did. reason its not 3shot is cause he didnt want it to be 3 shot at least at that time. The range i was at doesnt let you do 3 shot so he had no reason to have it built it. Its not an AR 15 is a M16A4 model he built using one of his M16's

If so, it's a AR15. If a firearm has a 3 round burst option, or a full automatic option, it's classified as a machine gun and may only be legally owned by a civilian if the receiver was manufactured before May 1986. If you don't know, an AR15 is the weapon platform that the army adopted and added several automatic features classifying it as the M16. Semi-auto AR15 rifles like the one you show here are not M16s.

im glad you and STxTAGG3 actually research or at least know stuff about guns. while we're on the topic of weapon fails: when the M16A4 or M4A1 is mounted with optics in CoD, has anyone noticed how they remove the gas block + front sight? your gun would be incapable of firing even semi! you'd have to rack the action after each shot! i expected more for the amount of time and money that went into that game

im sorry if i implied i didnt like the game lol. its best online though. then flaws with weapons dont matter (not that they did anyway). in online play, weapons are properly flawed in order to give all the weapons in a class a fair comparison to each other. like, a semi-auto only, long-barreled, FN FAL (DSA-58OSW) in real life would SUCK compared to a Remington ACR as an all purpose weapon...i prob just pissed of some FAL fan by saying that. srry : D

@stefankinasevych true, the ACR is a much better weapon, but look when it was made in comparison to the FAL, and if you want to put someone on there arse and know they ain't getting up, the FAL is a great weapon for the job.

of course. as is any gun that has a hard hitting round. but you dont see soldiers going into CQC with a Barrett XM109 20mm because it will keep someone on their ass. its just impractical to bring a heavy, long barreled, semi-only weapon and use it in an all purpose role, when you could just get a modular assault rifle to do the job.

@stefankinasevych true, but it depends where the weapon is deployed, for somewhere like Iraq or Afghanistan you're gonna want a shorter, faster firing, more controllable weapon like the M4 or SA80. But it a conflict like the Falklands the FAL excelled in the Semi Auto Variant, it was hard wearing, had an excellent effective range, was powerful enough to drop a guy at range even with one hit and was very rarely if ever used in CQB.
It all depends on operational requirements

modern day battles are mostly fought in streets, but if a situation arises where you need that long range punch then the FAL works very well. unfortunately the FAL is not a very compact weapon and its hard to control. do world superpowers equip their foot soldiers and marines with the FAL semi only version as the standard infantry rifle instead of an assault rifle, LMG, or MMG? nope. plus, in the falklands, british troops often ditched their semi FAL for the argentinian full-auto FAL

@stefankinasevych The British Army has always had an emphasise on good shooting not lots of shooting, which is why we only adopted a full auto weapon in the 80s (SA80A1 <---Crap) Before that they were all bolt action or semi auto. The only reason british troops picked up the argie FAL was because all grunts like to have full auto =P and the folding stock made it much lighter. Many realised that firing it on full auto was pointless and just used it in semi auto only.

ok let me reword my "thesis". in a modern day urban battle fought at close quarters and medium range distances, controllable, accurate, compact, selective fire (rifles), assault rifles and shotguns are ideal. if you only want to snipe, hunt or pick off targets at mid range, grab an FAL semi auto. if you want to kill close quarters and still maintain accuracy at mid ranges, and you want to be inconspicuous, grab a bullpup (not the SA80) or a compact standard assault rifle.

@stefankinasevych you can grab an SA80A2, it's a very very good bit of kit, but yeah, in the modern battlefield an compact assault rifle is the best bet, i'd grab and SA80A2 with an ACOG sight and front grip.

Depends, if you're going up against militia with no body armour then the 5.56 is the balls, but if you're against guys with body armour then consider the M468 or M417, larger calibre (6.8 and 7.62) to make sure you put it through the plate and drop him!

So if you have to kick, then kick. If you have to jump, then jump. You already know how to play. you play a game like you are actually there

Burst fire and full auto are completely legal. Just fill out the form, pay a tax, and get your transfer approved by the ATF. It's only slightly harder than buying a gun over the counter from an FFL.

@cjamster1 No , I live in AZ, and yes you can own full auto in CA, well YOU can't unless you happened to own one before they clamped down on them, or work in the film industry or something similar. CA has the most registered machine guns of any state in the NFA registry by the way. And not everyone shoots at a range, just like here, in CA there is plenty of open desert to shoot in.
You, as in you personally, a normal person can't even own a rifle with a pistol grip.

You will not get a life sentence for an unregistered NFA item, in fact, there's a good chance mere possession with no priors will only get you a felony conviction and a suspended sentence. Full autos are not illegal in all states. If you have the cash and are willing to wait you can buy a real M16 that is full auto or 3 round burst. If this rifle is not full auto then why say M16 in the title? Don't you mean AR15?

no this is a home made version using an M16 that my brother did. reason its not 3shot is cause he didnt want it to be 3 shot at least at that time. The range i was at doesnt let you do 3 shot so he had no reason to have it built it. Its not an AR 15 is a M16A4 model he built using one of his M16's

If so, it's a AR15. If a firearm has a 3 round burst option, or a full automatic option, it's classified as a machine gun and may only be legally owned by a civilian if the receiver was manufactured before May 1986. If you don't know, an AR15 is the weapon platform that the army adopted and added several automatic features classifying it as the M16. Semi-auto AR15 rifles like the one you show here are not M16s.

Yes it is. We have a conversion for them to be full auto, but usually we use the M16A2 if we would need auto.

and also NO the m16A4 does NOT have a KAC RIS rail system on it stock, its just the most common modification the USMC and army make to it. the M16a4 is basicly and M16a2 with a detachable carry handle, the KAC RIS does NOT make it an A4
