I've tried it several times and it's not working. I live in France, but I have the carrier's gateway address. I have tried it with the area code, without the area code, with a + sign before both options, and from different email services and it does not work. This is December, 2010. I have a prepaid cellphone, but it should not make any difference since text messages are free to receive in France.

@EugeDamm First, you need to type the area code before the number, in this case mine is "401" so you type like "4018624637". Then type what type of subscription you have, in this case I have verizon so type "4018624637@txt.verizon.net"

I use One Call and I could not get it to work.

I failed in both cases.
