ARRI is the motion picture standard in lighting, German made, quality is 110% than anything else. ARRI's are well built. I would recommend putting a video for the counterfit ARRI lights on Ebay made in China verses the real ARRI lights. That would be a better story. Sure ARRI's cost more but I would rather spend for quality any day.
Good intro video and making the effort to showing us the comparsion. Good point between the two lights.
ARRI make a 650W lamphead like the Britek one, but you probably won't find it in the USA - It's the European Redhead, 800W in Europe, 650W in US - which is why you have 1kW Redheads which use a different length lamp.
is not biased, he's explaining why the arri cost more, and he might be explaining why he now likes arri over everything else, if the arrri is a better light, then it is a better light, the britek focuses on affordability and that helps some people, to work their way up.
LIke comparing why you changed from your civic to your BMW..
remember guys, its not how good of a lighting fixture you have, its how you use it, an arri is useless if you dont have any training in cinematog. whatsoever, so take your money and put it on the britek, its what you need for now. Won best picture in the providence area with briteks...
really good vid. I have 500ish dollars to spend on lighting. Would you recommend I get the britek 3 piece fluorescent kit for 550 dollars (4000 watts total), the alien bees B800 with softbox for $480, or the Lowel ex55 softbox for $550, I'd really appreciate your input
@Hacobo actually after attending NAB I decided the LED lights are the future (at least for me) so I got some on camera 312 bi color lights that are working really well...do you know if there's any solutions for having any sort of barn door type deal on an LED light?
I own an Arri kit an there awesome and I will ad another Arri kit to my rig. How do you want to represent yourself infront of your clients. Pro or hack
Nope, right away I sensed how the lights were going to be rated, its in his demeanor at the start. He acts like a salesman for Arri. What is the cost of them both? What is the real weight of both the light and the stands combined? Please Glocks are made of plastic & they work just fine. Also when the Arri is focused two rectangles show on the wall. Why stretch the Britek cord so that it's airborne in the picture? He bumps it at end. I don't really care who wins but this seems biased.
This guy is comparing a fresnel to an open face instrument. Forget the aluminum vs plastic issue. The Arri has a LENS! The characteristics of the beam are totally different.
Question, do lone arri 650w tungstens come with plugs/cords? I know for many pro lights they come separately.

Did we stop using the term BARN DOORS?
Maybe its cutting edge using the term "Flags"
Is it open the barn doors or open the flags?
I know flags live on barn doors but I digress.
Nice to do the video though. thanks

@Desmo5150 I still refer to them as barn doors, sometimes get empty looks when I do though.

You might mention to swap bulbs rather than use dimmers to maintain accurate color cast

@Hacobo Do you want to light for video or stills? Because alien bees are strobe lights.
