Saw you at Westbury last week and I'm still looking for my sox !!! Keep rockin' my brother..You WILL be one of the greats of all time !!

  • ass kicking technique and phrasing!!! at 0:18 is so cool!!!

  • Great Tune!

  • @DougErapps Doug I am new to your playing. I just saw an older video of you playing with Steve Lukather and Jeff Healey (R.I.P) at his old Bathurst St. club in Toronto.

I love the way you play the blues on that clip and I love the Strat sound.

    NIce vibrato...

  • Hey love the playing! Is that a standard les paul or a traditional? What year and did you do any mods to it? Thanks! Keep it up

  • @TheSoultrain515 Its a Standard I got new in 2000. In this clip I think theres a JB in the bridge and a newer CTS 500k volume pot. Other than that, all stock. Thank SOulTrain!

  • Doug I keep coming back to this clip it just WICKED. You and Doug Aldrich are my two new favorrite players.

  • that passage from 0:00 to 1:40 was awesome

  • Scary Good Stuff Brother!!! Yo Man - Finally nice to have met you last weekend!! Zeus!!

  • Hats off for the awesome riff and flawless playing.I watched pretty much all i could find here on youtube of you playing and i must say i really like your style you have a nice groove.

  • Very kind of you to say.... Very kind indeed. Thank you...

  • Wow, you are absolutely awesome! Reminds me a little of Guthrie Govan, but I like your harmony with the song more than Govan, he sometimes plays things that don't match with the music as perfectly as your playing! Really awesome man! Keep it up, and I hope you will get very famous!

  • Thank you! I hope so too.... if yo have any bright ideas, let me know!! :)

  • @DougErapps I have a VERY bright idea! Put more videos EVEN MORE of you playing your songs on youtube! Youtube is THE way to get famous FASTER if you are Doug Rappaport!:P

+...I like your video so much...if you wonder where 10% of the views come from...(A)

  • dude youre a great guitar player... you almost remind me of a better Phil X haha nice job bro!!

  • @MusicManCormier HAhahaha! Thats funny! I did a recording session a few weeks ago and they were saying how I looked like Phil X! Maybe we're distant cousins or something....

  • you should be very famous.

  • thanks!! I'm tryin'.... I'm really tryin'.....

  • Wassup Doug. Amazing playing as usual.

  • Great Playing!

  • That means a LOT coming from you..... Thank you, Prashant!!!

  • Hi man! your playing and music are outstanding! and your sound too!

I have a doubt, I am going to use rack gear VHT 2:50:2 with ENGL e570 preamp. But I am considering to sell it and buy the Invader. My question is, are to much diference between a head and rack gear? in terms of sound quality and feel. (for example the E570 preamp vs Special edition head have considerably diferent sound?) I am going to use it live.

    Thanks a lot!!

  • guitartrue. I dont have any playing experience with the ENGL preamps, but I've heard them. They are fantastic! I find "heads" in general cut better in the mix. I'll tell you this. Bumblefoot was using the preamps and switched to Invader 100 heads. Thats what I use. The preamps really do sound great. Better than the SE I think, but the Invader pretty much rules for me. Head is less to carry around too. Thanks for the kind words!

  • Thanks for your help!

At this moment I have the VHT, but I feel attracted by the Invader...lol! aggg!! difficult choice!! and my other guitarist is going to use the Mark V so I don´t know if the e570/VHT is going to cut well in the mix. Maybe better the Invader...

    Keep rocking!! and thanks Doug!

  • Wicked!

  • This is absolutely fantastic! I just 'discovered' you when checking out ENGL amps. In a sea of great players you really stand out to me - incredible control, super tone and really great choice of notes. In that way you remind me of Nuno! After several uninspired years you've really inspired me to start practicing again, and now I know what to strive for...phew, it's a looong road :-). Thanks, man. I'll be listening!

  • You do me MUCH honor, my friend... I thank you!

  • Ha! You have Serj's hair (in the SOAD Sugar vid you commented). I see why you think they suck; you being a good guitar player. I like SOAD, I think they have some excellent songs, but I'm not a musician. :)

  • Only one video? ):

  • Doug, how do you compare your Invader to the Special Edition Engl. Whats better for yours style and metal?

  • Both amps sound absolutely killer. Remember a HUGE part of "right amp" for someone is how it FEELS when you play. The SE has great sounds and versatility but feels very HiFi, clinical and sanitized.

  • Invader 100 is also very versatile but feels organic and natural. Like playing a handwired amp. It breaths better and responds better. I like that. I like to use my hands to get sounds. The SE, you dont need hands. Know what I mean?? Stay tuned. I'm gonna do a vid of my live set up: Invader 100 and a Marshall! KILLER!

  • Are you using an engl here? If so, which one? Your tone here is great!

  • I should tell you I have been using the Invader 100. It is an outstanding amp. That and their Vintage Classic 50 are my favorite ENGLS. Use them ALL the time...

  • Are you using an engl here, if so which one? Your tone is great!

  • I'm using a Yamaha Digi 100 2X12 combo. I had to record with low volume, as my camcorder mic easily distorts! Its a good amp for this kind of thing.... Thanks, man!!!

  • Doug, Awesome performance at the Edgar Winter concert last night, your chops were in fact jaw-dropping. What a surprise..., I couldn't imagine who would fill the guitar shoes for this show...I guess you must wear a size 12!

  • Comment removed

  • Doug has amalgamated an incredible style of playing by astutely standing on the shoulders of the wire and wood giants who have come before and created his own unique style. His execution, precision, taste, feel and timing are jaw-dropping. I haven't been this inspired since I heard Wired in 76 or Satch's Not of this earth. Nice work, man!

  • ledboots2009, I dont have the words to express my appreciation of your comments. Thank you, thank you, thank you... I am honored..... Thank you.....

  • If you ever in town again let me know your coming, I'd love to buy you dinner.

  • Doug, saw you in Palmetto a few years back w/ Edgar Winter. I'm an old school classic rock player from the day and I was very very impressed, I think you had a little one on the way. I talked to you briefly after the show and I could tell your a nice guy and I bet a great dad, most important job in the world. Your kids are the only people you'll ever meet that think you are the greatest person in the world, but I think your pretty cool too. Good luck in all you do.

    ,James

  • man great tone, feel and real rock n roll groov and energy to burn wicked stuff doug.

  • Best rock player I've ever seen.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. Amazing. Sick playing Doug. You're one of the best i've ever seen, and I'm a big fan of a lot of guitar players. How long have you been playing? I wanna get that good. BTW, if you ever come to Mexico, I'll make my best to go and see you play!!

  • OMG DUDE YOUR GOD STATUS

  • Man i saw this guy with edgar winters open for bad company. Honestly they put on a way better show than bad company. Bad Company should open for them. Awesome guitar player. Doug your the man! Keep rockin!

  • you really play good mate, but you got some arrogance in your pose

  • Thanks, man.. What can I say... I been touring the world for 10 + years rocking many stages.... Old habits ("posing") die hard. Next video I'll have the guitar right up high under my neck, I'll suppress all animation and emotion. In short, I'll play some jazz. Just for you, mate! :D

  • Arrogance I dunno. Confidence yes but when you play that good how could you not be arrogant and confident.

  • good stuff man! respected !

  • Hey bro, tremendous playin' as always!!! wanna see some green Charvel action!!!

  • Hey man, great playing! Love the song too!

Regarding your music, Did you record it all yourself at home with a recording desk and drum software etc, or did you go to a proper studio and hire session musicians?

Cheers, and keep up the awesome playing!

  • Thanx, man! I recorded that all my self at home, as well as the rest of my album, with programmed drums. I used that for this clip. I just took out the lead.

I later sent the sessions to my man Chris Frazier (drum GOD) and he recorded real drums for me.

So the album BIONIC, is all me, in my studio with the inimitable drums of Chris Frazier.

  • Hey, I just bought a couple of your songs on iTunes and, dude, you freaking rock! You should become like really famous and stuff. Could you please tell me what scale you are using? (e.g. 1:07 - 1:18)

  • Hey Thanks, man! In that section its an F sharp mixolydian scale. Its a major scale with a flat 7. Hope that helps! Keep rockin'....

  • Thanks a lot!

  • You f***** rock, brother. 5 stars

    Robin :o)

  • pure class.

  • Damn Brotha! Rock on!!!! Great playin!

  • Your tone, technique and composition is surpassed only by your giant cock. Is that thing cut?? It looks like a Kielbasa wearing a sweater. Dougggyyyy!!! The frazool loves you. Let's play the Baked Potato!! We'll do a tune by you...(Say it like Christopher Walken)...then a tune by me....I'll do you..then...you'll do...ME...we'll..do each other....songs I mean....

  • chris frazier...sick drummer...sick person... :)

  • sounds a lot like joe satriani

  • Thanks! I think...?

  • What? If Joe Satriani saw this, he'd play with his vagina for a while and then go crying to his mom. Doug makes Satriani look like a head of cabbage. And not even a head of cabbage that plays guitar. Just fucking cabbage.

  • Your playing, tone, technique, and composition are all very inspiring!

  • Great playing!

  • WTF!?...where have you been hiding all this time? hudge talent, nice technique.

I saw the Engl Invader namm 2008 vid, how is the amp man? I plan to buy one very soon and never had a chance to try it.

  • Awesome as always Doug!

  • Thanks Jon! I'll post new stuff as soon as I get my gear fixed!

  • I'm honored. Thank you! Perspiration is a desirable effect, but testicular motion/shrivalage is very high praise indeed! Thanks again, bro

  • Jesus H. Every time I watch this I start sweating and my balls shrivel up into my stomach. Fucking unreal, Doug.

  • Awesome!, but then I knew that, I've been listening to you with Edgar for awhile now.

  • Awesome playing!

  • oh my lord...

  • Doug, stellar playing and tone! I purchased BIONIC the day it hit iTunes. Easily one of the best "semi-instrumental" guitar albums ever. Which amps did you use to get that huge tone?

  • Hah found you Doug lol.

What's up bro? It's Cy. Sounding pretty damn good man, can't wait for your next lesson this Tuesday!

  • What bridge pickup are you using in that les paul? I think it sound really good.

  • I think its a JB. I have a bunch of un-marked pickups from back in the day. Its either a JB or a Duncan Custom. Probably JB.... I'm glad you dig it. Thanks, man!

  • saw the show tonight, you rock man, thanks for shakin my hand.

  • I found this by accident I'm really glad I did Where is the album available in the UK please?

  • Hey man, I happened to see your playing on one of the Cameron amp videos. You're quite possibly the best player I've seen in a while. Perfect combination of blues, fusion, "shred", and straight up rock. I hope to be able to play like that someday!

  • I thank you! Kind words indeed, much appreciated! Yeah Camerons RULE I have the CCV-100. Its my FAVE!!!! A dream amp for any Marshall lover.

Be flexible-- Just go for it!!!

  • Sweet... You're hired!

  • Of course, I'm the first to comment.

As long as you're shooting these at home, you oughta do another one in the kitchen. Stand in front of the stove with all the burners on high and pots of water boiling & steaming on all burners.

    "The Metal Chef"

Also, wear a white chef's coat with lots of blood stains. And oh yeah, do something with a Strat!!

    Stratoblogster

  • Great ideas, dude! I think the next one will be me playing on the toilet while taking a shit!

The next one will be with the Strat... so stay tuned!!!
