This is why it's fantasy :D . I play games and I like anime but I wish more people would get interested in REAL swords. Go to Albion Swords and look at their Munich model or even Squire line Bastard Sword. FAR prettier and cooler than fantasy. Look at some of the classic Katana from Japanese museums on line, a good pattern welded Viking blade, or Wootz bladed Scimitar. The real ones are prettier, cooler,,, AND,,, they can actually be USED. But I can only wish. Ha Ha. :)

The problem with this is that most people don't have the strength to swing it properly. Force=Mass x acceleration. The dude swinging it only drew the sword back like two feet, thus the speed was not adequate, leading to insignificant damage on the pallet. Also, his edge alignment/form is pretty bad, another reason for the little damage. Now if this sword was something like 20 pounds, and this guy used it again, it could do some SERIOUS damage..

Even if we suppose that Cloud Strife is so strong that he can lift 54 pounds at arm's length without getting remotely tired, the games and movies don't realistically show how such a blade-heavy sword would actually handle. It would be very slow to recover from swings and easy to lose control of. It works because its fantasy, not real life.
