  • wow. our youth choir sang this song in the late 60s or early 70s can't . i have to say we made it sound better than this recording. but the song brings back a lot of memories for me. loved it then, love it now. good ole old school gospe

  • I never really knew who recorded it, I just remember I sung it as a child and feeling the spirit as I sang !!

  • TIMELESS CLASSIC....will never go stale.

  • As much as I love this song, it isn't my favorite of Myrna's. She wrote this song called "There Is A River of Joy in Him" that will knock your socks off! She recorded it in 1994 but it wasn't released. She changed the vamp and re-recorded it in 1998 and it was released on the CD entitled "His Mercy Endureth Forever" but it isn't as powerful as the original (in my opinion).

  • @Kebbo202 You know I think I remember that recording. It was live at Refreshing Spring and under the GUTSAY label if I recall. I didn't know she wrote the song. Maybe someday all those who have coveted God's beautiful songs under the guise of contract agreements, etc. will release the cd's, tape reels or whatever and share them with the world. It would be so nice to listen to these gospel classics on satellite radio nonstop.

  • Thank you, thank you, Thank you!!! So many Brooklyn, New York memories ago!

  • I remember this one . It always got the church going.

  • i love this song!!

  • I had a 45 rpm of this song that I played over and over and carried it around since the 60's so I wouldn't lose it-- until I found it here. In those days, I didn't even allow the reality of God really being there for me, but the song touched my soul to the core and opened a pathway. This one and Oh Happy Days (Hawkins) still bring tears to my eyes, make my heart sing and my feet dance. (I'm white and was a non-church going Unitarian in those days, so Lord knows how I connected in.) thank you

  • This song is still potent today after so many, many, many years. I remember singing it when I was twelve years old back in the early 70's. I'm going to teach it to my mass choir and I do believe they are going to love it.

  • The youth at church sing this song

  • THIS SONG HAS BEEN IN MY MIND SINCE THE 60's

  • I remember this song from when I lived in Jersey City. My nephew, who is in his early 40's used to sing this song as a child. I need to buy it but no one has it. Anyone got any ideas on how I can get it?

  • where can I purshase this woman of God's music?

  • Hallujah!!

  • Thank you, Thank you, when I saw this song I remembered when I sang it with the childrens choir at my church. Wonderful song and it gave me such hope just hearing it. It remided me that I was singing and praising God then and I'm still here singing and giving God the glory that is a wonderful feeling.

  • Thanks so much for your thoughtfulness.

  • I grew up singing this song back in Pittsburgh. This song has the same weight as Oh Happy Day(Hawkins) and "Ain't no need of Crying(Rance Allen Group)... It showed me that music is how we heal souls. And it's not just hymns...

    Peace and blessings,

    Billy Mayfield

  • Amen, Billy! Remember an old tune that said, What good is a song if it can't inspire. Lift you higher. It's not good enough to sing.

  • @n2groove Me too. I was told the original writer of this song is Dr. Joan Hillsman who did reside in DC now in Syracuse, New York

  • WOW - talk about a blast from the past! - Thank you for posting. Myrna Summers is the original composer, correct???

  • Yes, this is her composition, the one that spring boarded her career. Thanks for your comment.

  • this is one of the first songs that i learned after i had got saved 38 yrs. ago. it is yet a powerful song . i love it.
