If you think Social Security is a good idea then you must be nieve enough to think that there is actually a Social Security Trust Fund. Yes...there is a shell called the SSTF within the government but there is no funds in it. There is a pile of T-Bill's from the so-called investments. Who recieved the money and is supposed to be paying this intererst? The U.S. Treasury. If you haven't noticed... the US Treasury is $12.9 Trillion in Debt. You expect the broke Treasury to pay back the SSFT?

Social Security fund was looted by President Johson. He couldn't raise taxes so he strong armed congress to transt SSI funds into the General Fund and leave an IOU, which continues to this day, into the SSI fund. There is no money in the SSI fund, only a government IOU. There is a reason why 'the useful idiots' are lying to us. 'They' don't know they are lying.

In 1950 as a small boy, my mom took me to the doctor (who also made houscalls0 for $2.00 a visit. People who worked could afford medical care. The "Community Fund in San Francisco" helped needy city families with medicine, housing, clothing, food--AND-- helped daddy find a job and put him to work again. All was well until the government came along with medicare--license for health providers to steal from the tax payer. When the government wants to help, grab your wallet & run the otherway!

Is health care something you can't afford? I've been paying my own way since a was discharged from the military, 1962. Now retired and I don't use Medicare or Medical. Sorry others can't but is that my problem? Let's go back to 1950, get government out of the private sector. Leave us alone!

Because paying 6 percent of ones wages when rich folks pay far less so old people can get over-priced meds our government refuses to regulate prices on in addition to all the other taxes sucks. SS is a shit crock that targets the poor, and it either should not be capped or it should be abolished.

How can SS be considered an "entitlement" if we payed into it all these years? This isn't food stamps or welfare, so it shouldn't even be brought up.

Washington DC uses the word 'entitlement' and not a 'trust fund' so they can give our money to those who haven't paid into the fund. In effect they are buying votes with your dollars, lying about the inflation rate which is about 12%. Those of us who paid into SSI should be getting TWICE as much as we are getting out of SSI because inflation rate is methodically understamed by the FEDS. Figures don't lie but liars figure!

I got laid off last June so decided to start pulling SS at 65 (which I turned in Jan) instead of working for a few more years. Back in 1950, when my parents started explaining this stuff to me, I figured the whole program out as a giant Ponzi scheme...and I think I was right!
