  • NEAR PERFECTION

  • gorgeous music, you're mood picks out the rhythm, try moon, welcome to lunar industries, keep listening till after the cello solo 2min 14. wish i'd written that..

  • I went to performance of Brazilian Groupo Corpo , which uses this music as a soundtrack for dances. It was just terrific experience from combination of the music and magic and charming performance of the Group Corpo! I felt in love with them!!!!

  • i like that some of the a's used in this are 440, and others 445 hz

  • BUSCAVA TE

    BENVINDA LUZ BENVINDO SON

    FELIZ LUA CHEA

    GEMINI FRARTTERNI

    ASALA

  • Is there a marimba and a xylophone in this piece?

  • What traditional instruments were used in this piece? I'm just very curious what that flute sounding instrument is called.

  • @TheDavid2222 I believe that was a pan flute.

  • @Cuinnandstuff I've seen them live today and they use a regular flute. The other instruments are glass made marimbas and plastic (pvc) pipes for percussion.

  • @bl4st3r Thank you for clearing that up!

  • ,.k,,mt4t65422345678907690'yyty6k6kykyku

  • This is so relaxing

  • I'd love to see a video for this. Something along the lines of two adventurous kids running from danger through the rain forest after exploring Mayan or Aztec ruins.

  • amazing I love it

  • Youtube : "Lontano " (Ottomano)

  • i think the muse-song "new born" could be strongly influenced by that. it's similar

  • posee una atmosfera latinoamericana muy especial

  • This composition is so calm and beautiful that it becomes tragic. For some reason I always think that it's about childhood. Beautiful and harmonic time, but tragic, because it's already gone. Flute parts make even stronger association with past, as if we are remembering something. Indeed ingenious!

  • @AikiNick102 ur right

  • Soo Beautyful!!

  • There isn't a Philip Glass piece I've heard that I have not loved! <3

  • Except for Einstein at the Beach, that stuff is way out.

  • @ferny5ando have you heard his opera Akhnaten? Its probably my favorite composition of all time. Einstein on the Beach is great stuff but takes a while to get used to.

  • @Cheespuffs45 I really like Akhnaten. Einstein on the Beach is always interesting to play for other people to hear their reactions.

  • Performed by UAKTI. :D

  • this is very similar to the truman show song...besides the use of polyrhythms it's almost the same notes

  • Thanks for posting, beautiful........

  • magnificent, enough said, . . .

  • Qué gran talento el de Philip Glass.

  • where can i find the music sheet to it?

  • no, just great

  • Is it true that this song could be in either 3/4 or 6/8??

  • it's 4/4.

  • the main structure of the song is 3/4 just the bells play in 4/4, so it's a 3 against 4 polyrhythm, plus he adds other polyrhythms with the pan flute going against the 4/4 on the bells

  • True, but the actual execution of the 3/4 is in the form of 6/8, so it's not polyrythmic in the strongest possible sense (as opposed to, say, Mad Rush)

  • @lernisto technically it's still polyrhythmic, it's just that 3/4 is in double time....well super technically any beat is POLYrhythmic, even your basic rock beat lol.

  • the song was enough....thanks!

  • 6/8

  • Is it written in 3/4 measure?

  • nope, 4/4

  • ah bad luck, I just arranged this in 3/4, but I think it's got the same effect.

  • i have become a huge philip glass fan and i think this piece is just amazing

  • grayam baker would like this song a bit, however i like this song, it reminds me of hair spray especially the.

  • This is an amazing piece of music. My friend choreographed a fantastic contemporary piece to it for 3 girls... works perfectly:)

    I just love it!!

  • great song..very calming and relaxing..nice..bravo..

  • Woderful !

    Viva o Brasil !!!!

  • Oh jesus, Philip Glass. YOU MUST BE TOUCHED BY GOD TO MAKE MUSIC THAT SOUNDS THIS GOOD!

  • Remover The original CD, from 1999, called Águas da Amazonia (Amazon Waters) comes with this short text: "All numbers except Metamorphosis I were commissioned by Grupo Corpo Brazilian Dance Theater and performed as "Seven or Eight Pieces for a Ballet". The instruments are built by the UAKTI group. The flute is called Uakti flute and has no connection with Japan but some connections with the andean pan flute. The names of the songs are all related to affluent rivers to the huge Amazon River.

  • GRUPO CORPO

  • wow perfect you get the feeling of the river but also a deffinate phlipp glass touch

  • what's the thing playing at the beginng, at 1:43 and 3:50? it sounds kind of african and i can't remember what it's called.

  • a pan flute

  • I think it's not a panflute, it's a shakuhachi (a traditional japanese bamboo flute)

  • Beautifull

  • i'd LOVE to listen to this master peice in a piano version

  • Anyone else notice how his music is almost universally centered around triplets? Nonetheless, awesome beyond reason. I have spoken.

  • No, it changes back and forth.

  • OUAWW beautiful song

  • Best song of Philip Glass... Great!

  • This is one of my all-time favorite albums-it's just awesome! Thanks for posting!

  • i love youtube

  • i love this song

  • wow!!! this song is really moving.

I love the jungle beat in background...

  • Plus bonne!

  • First of all Wafffl3 your suppose to write (Worst song I've ever heard.), and secondly your lack of acknowledgment to this artistic piece is quite disturbing. If you don't like this song then simply refrain from listening to it, and leave the people whom enjoy it speak of it. The truth is this, its sad oblivious people such as yourself who create problems on our planet. If only you could be half as peaceful as this song, I guarantee! You would be a better person.

  • Well said.

  • Agreed.

  • True. You are absolutely correct but unfortunately for you, I know the person who said what they did quite well. So i jokingly replied to his comment just for fun. So it actually really isn't a bash at the person since I'm sure I made him laugh a little. Also I know he was just joking when he commented saying this song is the worst song ever. But seriously all in good fun this song is good nonetheless.

  • I think people who say they don't like it should be dealt with with patience. Maybe they need a visual to make them understand it a little better.

  • i was joking buddy

  • Tutorials? Sheet music? I need to play this song.

  • yea. this can´t be made up. genius

  • Great song, anyone happen to have it? Can u send it to me? Thanks
