Cultural Change: Assimilation is the Appropriate Choice.

How can you move and setup a life in a different country with a different culture/language from your own and go 10, 20, rest of your life and not learn the language and culture. Clearly there was an ambition when one decided "I want to move here, and make a life for myself". Im guessing once actually there, the ambition to learn dies off, and you become a "closed off" type of person, only doing things in the small communities of your culture/language. Happens alot in Florida.

I don't think you should ever give up the traditions of your culture, but you do have to respect the culture of the country you live in as well. Diversity is amazing. I love it.

Everyone has the right to keep and emprace their original culture but I think that if you are immigrating you must also adopt the culture of that area.

On the note of patriotism in the USA, I've found the most loudly patriotic people are like most loud people in general.

People tend to be loud about things as a way of hiding the fact that they lack understanding.

What I'm saying is that Canada, while it may not seem as patriotic as the USA, does have a distinct identity, although perhaps a bit subtle. Rather similar to the USA in its foundations, but more mellow, and thoughtful as a whole because of it.
