@viper10011....... Your an idiot,......anyone with a half ass set of binocs can spot an animal at 1000 yards. And how about a pronghorn at 800 yds. I also know friends who shoot open sight competitions at 500m. Nice vid guys, very informative.
who cares you cant even see an animal hidding in the woods at 1000 yards. The longest shot I ever heard of anyone making that I know was 600 yards at a moose.
the wind has most effect on the shot as it leaves the barrel, but at 1000 yds the wind closer to target could be different strength or direction eve, so yes you need to look for clues from vegetation and if a hot day, the shimmer can be seen moving in the wind at target end.
If shooting at a thousand yards how consistent is the wind speed for the next 200 yards? If the wind speed at your area is 7 mph what would it be for the next successive hundred yards?
The best way to determine that is to check the vegetation: what is it doing where you are and what is it doing downrange. We will be uploading a new shooting tip today called "Doping the Wind." Check it at next chance you get.
