A bit of advice: make sure you look up any official travel advice, and also look up any current political events - so for example travelling to Gaza may not be the best thing to do right now since the blockade is now underway, but the West Bank would be safer.

Oh, and seeing as you're a girl, don't forget to look up local customs, so for something like Palestine it won't be a problem but Iran or Saudi Arabia have strict laws for men and women.
