  • this totally works! i have extremely oily skin and i have been using this for over a year! best primer ever! cheapest too...

  • So excited to try this out! Subscribing :)

  • WOW! Wish I had know this in high school!

  • Lindo!

  • I've been using Milk of Magnesia for years!!! I feel validated :) I find it quite useful for me

  • What do i do, if my skin is oily, but gets dry in areas - and it's not that i got the T-zone which is oily, and the other parts of my face are dry, but sometimes i get dry on my nostrils and forehead!

  • Would I apply the milk of magnesium under or over primer before putting on foundation?

  • Wayne I just found your channel and I am overly impressed with all your helpful advice and tricks. I recently had a makeover at MAC and I was convinced to buy all new products that would help me with my oily skin. You are so right when you say that the make up only lasts a couple of hours. This was on Sunday and here we are on Thursday and I spent all this money to get the same results as before. I am so glad that I found your channel and I am so excited to try the techniques you mention. Thanks

  • i wanted to ask well my skin got very oily scince 12 years old will my skin ever stop beeing oily someday ?

  • I have severe oily skin and I have discovered that Good Health Milk of Magnesia is one million times better than the Phillips Milk of Magnesia. My skin is so oily my make up slides off and it was begining to get embarrassing

  • You are so amazing!

  • You are amazing!!! All of these years battling shine and oily skin switching foundations and oil control products and nothing really worked 100% until you taught me this tip :0)

Now my makeup is flawless for hours and I don't have to touch it up to get rid of oil buildup :0) Thanks so much you are truly a makeup and skincare Guru

  • where in the uk can u find the traditional milk of magnesia?

  • @TheNessaKAYY I think Boots would sell it but I am not quite sure.

  • @TheNessaKAYY supermarket chemist its easy to get

  • You've literally solved all my skincare & makeup problems, thank you soo much! :) ♥

  • can you do a video on methods on how to apply the milk of magnesia please

  • Anyone that doesn't want to stop moisturising their oily skin because it gets dry after washing, try pure aloe vera gel. It will condition the skin and make it feel really soft but because it's a gel and has no oil in it, it won't make your skin any oilier and will not block pores! Plus it will calm and soothe any redness from acne, spots etc, if you keep using it!

  • He is the best and most helpful !

  • Do you have any drug store favorites?

  • I cannot find plain Milk of Magnesia here in Glasgow UK! It is all mint flavoured and I don't like the thought of putting that on my face in case it irritates it. Does anyone in the UK know where I can buy the straightforward plain stuff!

  • You are very sexy !

  • MOM never worked for me. I love the Shiesedo pureness range, it doesn't solve the problem but OMG does it help!.

  • No one "solution" works for ALL oily skins. For SOME people, the Milk-of-Magnesia works great, but it doesn't work for everyone. It worked for me for like 3 days and then voila, my skin resorted to being as oily as it was. For me, only Accutane stopped the oil but only while on it. I was oily again within a month of going off of it. Also keep in mind oily/super-oily etc is all relative. What some people feel is super oily skin is just somewhat oily when compared to someone else's super oily.

  • @callme1oak ive had this, on accutane all lovely, came off for a bit, oily as hell

  • FINALLLY!!!!!!!! i thoight it was just me!!! yes my foundation gets darker after about an hour that i spply it!!!! so i have to always buy foundations that are lighter thatn my natural skin tone!! it makes me really sad because i want my face to look good! pleas help!

  • well i have very oily t zone combination skin but im not sure that i can stop using face products because i have acne at the moment

  • I'm so oily and I hate it!! I've got prom this year and I dread to think about how greasy I'm going to look on photos.. :-/

  • @x3bethanie wear translucent powder

  • This changed my life, I'm not even kidding. I'm so glad I know this now! Thank you so very much and I really hope you realize how amazing you are <3

  • i love your honesty!!!

  • Thanks Goss....I've just recently found out about The Milk of Magnesia by another make-up artist from Jamaica here on YouTube (Jamaican Make-up Artist - Lyric) and I've used it on a couple of persons I know that have oily to very oily skin and IT TOTALLY WORKS!!!!! with nooooo irritation at all....i love, love, love it....thanks again for the tips....take care.

  • I have this problem, when i wash my face my skin gets really dry, so i have to use moisturizer, but then my face gets very oily, and I don't know what to do.

  • @danielazbl i have the same problem!! i have full bangs so my bangs get greasy because my face is so oily because of moisturizer! D:

  • I've had very oily skin all my life and for many years I've used MoM to control my oil. I recently started taking Evening Primrose Oil supplements, and my oiliness has decreased about 80%. I still use MoM on my nose though as my nose seems to think it's a member of OPEC. :-p

  • GUSS ARE YOU MARRIED???LOVE U MUCH..UR SUCH GOOD IN UR JOB

  • Amazing advice, but ive searched almost everywhere in the UK for the ORIGINAL one, I brought the mint one by accident....Does anyone know where it is available in the UK?? Much appreciated x

  • Would you recommend using a primer over the milk of magnesium? I have EXTREMELY oily skin :(

  • I have extremely oily skin and normally this time of the year (Dec -January summer here in New Zealand) my face is so greasy and shiny .....but this year it is normal! I have not tried milk of magnesium but I have been putting jojoba oil on my face - I know it sounds absolutely absurb to put oil on oily skin right!?? it does not work right away but eventually your skin adapts .... it works believe me! thought I'd share my tip! LOL thanks Wayne

  • Omg thank you for this tip!!!! Im gonna try this! Oh and yea I just don't use moisturizer cuz I always said that it just makes my skin even more oily!

  • thank uuuuu so much for this i have been desperately searching for a solution for my oily tzone all my life i'm def gonna try this 2day.....yr the best & so damn cute i adore yr wink at the end of yr vidz u seem so genuine

  • Thanks for all the tips.

Sadly none of them work for me and I won't go on accutane, so I guess I'm stuck!

  • Does retin-a help?

  • I just wanted to say, I love you. (:

  • You are the best Makeup Guru HANDSDOWN. Thank you for what you do.

  • Comment removed

  • This was so helpful! I was one of those people who've been told to use more moisturizer in order to control the oil, but im still oily! I def will try the milk of magnesia :) thanks for the tip!

  • I don't mind it because its meant to make your skin look younger, but yeah it is annoying though

  • UP UNTIL YOU WERE ABOUT 30? YOU LOOK LIKE YOU'RE IN YOUR 20'S

  • I usually never disagree with you Wayne but on the topic of oily skin and moisturizer I have to say I do (disagree that is). I have very oily skin and I stopped using moisturizer for the a year. It ruined my skin and left me with horrible dry patches that took months to recover. My experiences with cutting out moisturizer were very bad. Just saying this to offer another perspective not because I think you're wrong. But as you were saying everybody is different so experiences will differ.

  • does rice water actually mattify the skin?

  • I tend to get oily throughout the day, and that's exactly what I need-something to balance the skin because I go from supple/well-moisturized skin to oily. So how often should we use the milk of magnesia face mask?

  • I may try this for my nose & chin!

  • Omg thank u, I definitely think that I will try milk of magnesia.

  • Wel.. My skin is oily AND dehydrated, so some times I'll be more oily and still my skin is really dry/dehydrated and needs a good moisturizer. How to deal with that?

  • @xxELK I have really really oily and dehydrated skin too. I use to live by the coast so my skin was soft even when I did not moisturize it. I used tissue all the time to blot my face, but it just got more greasier. Then I moved to Colorado where the weather is super dry. The second week after I arrived, my face turned flaky. I tried to leave it un-moisturized but it led to the worst breakout of my life because all the pores were severely clogged by the dead skin cells.

  • @xxELK -continued. Now I moisturize my skin day and night though it is still quite oily. I put on loose powder during daytime, and it really helps to the absorb the oil. I leave my skin oily at night because no one sees it. Also, excess oil does not make me break out, so I am ok with it at home. By the way, oily skin does not necessarily cause acne, at least not making me break out. Dead skin cells, clogged pores, leaving makeup on overnight, and not exfoliating are far worse factors.

  • you just saved me A LOT of money i was in the market for a good primer b/c of how oily my skin is on my T Zone (rather lower case t to be precise)

  • I must say love all of your reviews, you are my go to makeup expert when I want to know something. I've used the milk of magnesia due to having oily skin, it really didn't work as well as I heard. But, you've convinced me to try it again...seems like nothing works for me. As a makeup lover who loves to wear a full face of makeup, it's embarrassing. So, I appreciate your advice and will give it another try. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world!!

  • i use milk of magnesium all the time dont have any side affects at all

  • You look so fair!

  • Stipple it on?...

  • I have very oily skin and struggle with acne and acne scarring. I am definitely trying milk of magnesia, but could you do a video about other home/natural remedies for acne and acne scars? I really enjoy your videos. Thank you!

  • for me helped the green clay from Cattier, really good stuf for oil skin :)

  • Really great advice!! What can i do if i have oily skin only on my nose and chin??

  • I wouldn't recommend Accutane - I took a drug w/ the same ingredient & it caused really bad severe depression. I had to get off of it becuase I had a suicide attempt because of it. I'm now on anti-depressants bc of it. It's such a scary drug.

  • thank you for another great video and practical advice!

  • Where can I buy milk of magnesium specifically in America? (._.)

  • Do you just ask your chemist for milk of magnesia?

  • Thank you^^

  • Hi Wayne,

My GP put me on a magnesium supplement and its been fantastic for my skin (and all the things she put me on it for) but my OILY OILY skin is now beautiful and just right.

  • OMG! I've been using Milk of Magnesia and now I feel so much better since you verified that it's one of the best ways to stop oily skin.

  • FInally someone who gives a good explanation about oily skin!! and a solution!

  • hahaha dry skin next,,

    lol

  • Wayne Goss is spot on yet again! Less is Definitely more for my oily, blemish prone skin. I have learned that oily skin is often dehydrated skin - it needs water so it over-produces oil in an attempt to keep the water in. I find drinking a LOT of water helps limit my oil production and using an hydrator product (like Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Booster or Mario Badescu Cellufirm serum) rather than a conventional 'oily' moisuriser. Thanks so much for posting.

  • I was on acutane for 7 months and it cleared a little bit of my acne but I still have it quite a bit and it only stops your skin from being oily while your on it . My skin isn't as oily as it used to be though but it still gets very oily . So acutane does not get rid of it .

  • I am hooked on your videos and advice. I am eager to try this as soon as I can, thank you.

  • I've never heard of this option for oily skin and I am SO excited to try! Thank you!

  • Does wearing milk of magnesia under foundation cause a white cast in pictures?

  • Milk of Magnesia is a godsend for oily skin! I only use it on my T-zone & still moisturize before putting it on and I barely need to use blotting papers throughout the day and don't even bother with powder sometimes. Definitely worth trying! :)

  • Good advice! I've just stopped using moisturiser recently and have discovered that my "crows feet" Aren't as noticeable. Any idea why this could be? I thought moisturiser would stop the skin creasing as badly xx

  • i find clinique's moisturizing gel works pretty well in controlling my awful t-zone.

  • Hey Mr., I really like your advices....the are the best....:-)

  • i was on accutane and my face before it was combination with really oily t zone and atopic dry cheeks. Honestly i am much more happier with dry skin, which i have now even if the oilines wasn't my main concern.

  • i've been using Clinique's DDMG & Clarifying Lotion 4, and I swear that these products made my skin less oily. I do have combination skin so I need a moisturizer that's not too heavy so I chose I gel moisturizer w/c I think is best for oily skin.

  • You don't look a day over 30, to me! You're absolutely gorgeous and your tips are AMAZING! :D

  • I used to have really oily skin. I carry around oil sheets. And i used to have to wipe my face every hour at school. How embarrasing.! Anyways i was searching up in the internet, for oily skin. I found this natural mask. A banana mask. One banana, a tsbp of honey. Lemon or orannge. Mash the banana into puree. Add the honey n the lemon/orange(few drops) Leave on for 15 min. before rinsing with a cool washcloth or a steaming warm washcloth.

  • Omg!!!! Does any one else love this guy as much as i do!!!! 

  • @discodolly456 ME D:

  • Thank you so much! After watching this video last week I went straight out and bought milk of magnesium. It's honestly worked wonders for me.

  • hello)) i was taking accutane for 9 monthes. my acne stoped but my skin is still extremly oily((((( ill try to find Milk of magnesium couse this sounds to be my last hope)))))

  • can u please make a video on for tips and what are the best primers amd foundations for dry skin thank you

  • In my experience, putting a little bit of EV Olive oil with wet fingertips over my face, instead of moisturizer, after washing and toning makes me wake up to normal skin - not oily, not dry. During the day, the less I put on the better.

  • Thanks that was helpful. Would you be able to do a video on a good skin products? i.e cleanser , scrub etc.

  • Could you please make a video of tips or a tutorial for dry skin! Thank you(:

  • to use mom as a mask how man times a week do you recommend to use it?

  • I've been using honey and sea salt mixed for masks and scrubs and it actually helped.

I did it every 2 or 3 days for a few weeks and I can honestly see a difference in terms of imperfections and oily sensation.

Now I only do it once a week or whenever I feel like it.

It's cheap and natural and doesn't dry my skin.

Try it if you haven't already.

  • Like someone already pointed out above, oily skin can get dehydrated just like any other skin type (depending on the climate you live in, the hardness of the water in your area, time of year, etc.). I definitely do need to use a moisturizer on my oily skin, I just make sure all the products I use are oil free and made specifically for my skin type.

  • very professional, efficient, great vids thank you so much!

  • OMG, you have answered the question that nobody else could!

  • WHERES YOUR DRY SKIN ONE :(

    its been a week since

  • MOM doesn't work for me :(... still really oily and actually broke me out... but it's worth a try!

  • thank you for another brilliant video

  • O h ,

to spend just one hour with your knowledgable self to get my specific skin and makeup needs evaluated...

    *sigh*

  • Yup. Unfortunately MOM doesn't work for me, it's like I haven't even put it on, my skin is still disgustingly oily throughout the day & it just makes it so dull looking. :(

  • Thank you:)

  • I love watching your channel. You are short and sweet and to the point. You are also very informative. That goes for all of your videos. Thank you!

  • Amazing as ever x

  • Hi! I have oily skin but I have flaky skin on my nose. I exfoliate and all but I can't seem to get rid of it. Should I apply moisturizer JUST on the flaky part then ? My nose gets oily in the middle of the day too .... Thanks for your tips ! Love your videos!

  • @yukinoOoO Hi, I have the same problem and I use an oil free mosturiser to get rid of my flaking :)

  • @yukinoOoO i have the same condition too! :<

  • I'm 63 and STILL have oily skin! I've tried the MOM with no luck so far. Will give it another shot. I don't break out that often but I do have lg pores and I'm going to try what you suggested for that. Does this oily skin ever end?

  • moisture and oil are not the same thing - moisture is water. oil is oil. that;s why you can have oily ANd dry skin >.<

  • You're the first expert I've seen suggest that oily skin doesn't need a moisturizer. Thank you for explaining that as most sales people pitch that at every counter. I guess anything for another sale!

  • I have been using milk of magnesium for a month, and I can say it trully works

  • Milk of magnesium does not work for me. I have tried it many times and my face is oily not even an hour later. I do use Touch Up anti shine by Mehron and found that this has helped me more than anything.

  • accutane made me suicidal with depression :(

  • ur s o right i have oily skin but my medication makes me dry ...and whenever its dry i wish it was oily :S .. i just cant seem to be happy with it .. lol

  • @snugsmontreal .. Thanx for the tip! Will try that :)

  • Thank you so much for this info! And THANK YOU for your time.

  • I totally agree that primers are a wait of time & money. I broke out from using them. And I do find that my skin is less oily if I don't use a moisturizer. I only use a light 1 if my skin is feeling dry. Which is hardly ever. I stopped using face masks, cos they seem to make my skin even oilier for about a week after use. Will try the MoM as a mask though. Thanks for the video

  • You're right, we always want what we don't have. I want oily skin, not too oily, so I always slather my skin with lotions, lol!

  • now what brand is this milk of magnesia? Phillips? Is it the liquid one?

    Greetings

  • @Arriolaah Right, glad someone gets this! Sebum/skin oil does not add moisture to skin, it can only help hold moisture in. Moisture equals water! Moisturised skin can only come through applying water, water-attracting humectants or ingestion. Oils form a seal which helps keep the water from evaporating through skin so one might not feel the need for moisturisers if one lives in a very humid environment. But if one's oily skin also feels dry then then one could absolutely use a mosturiser.

  • @TheRubyFeline I agree, I have this problem... my skin can shine like a mirror BUT desquamate at the same time. Finding out a good moisturazer has been quite of a challenge.

  • @TheRubyFeline thank you! People should keep in mind that there is a difference between a makeup artist and an esthetician

  • what to do???? we do not have neither milk of magnesia nor major component sold in the farmacies here (Ukraine)

  • You should try japanese aburatorigami!Google it =) It's an oil blotting paper made of rice, really thin sheets that you just pat in the oily areas of your face and it absorbs all the extra oil, even when you have your make up on. It's perfect to get rid of shines in your face , so you don't have to apply more powder and pack your skin with more product. It's not expensive, you can get them in a store called Muji, that has japanese products, check the website for stores close from where you live.

  • OMG im obsess with your ' how to ' videos ! they are SUPER useful !

  • Does anyone use the MaryKay Normal to Oily skin moisturizer, it comes in a black top and clear container. The product itself, is a lavender tint like substance.

I really like it, but I was wondering if anyone likes it as well?

  • @beneathyourlove I use that at night and am very happy with it. It helps with any dry patches on my skin from using benzoyl peroxide for my acne and doesn't aggravate my skin at all to boot! :)

  • @IIIlIIlllI im so tired of people watching 5 minute videos and all they have to comment about is something dumb that had NOTHING to do with the topic of the video so STFU. she doesnt care, shes just trying to be a smart ass.

  • Seriously, I love this man!

  • You are such a breath of fresh air ...an *informed* guru :)

  • PHEWW ! THANK YOU SOO MUCH! I DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO ! :D. hope it works!

  • WHY ARE ALL OF HIS VIDEO TITLES IN CAPITALS?!?!?!

  • @tashabailey1996 DOES IT MATTER?!

  • @tashabailey1996 catches peoples attention.

  • people with IBS cannot use this technique!! it will give you diarrhea!!!

  • SORRY GUYS, BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT DRUG HE HAD RECOMENDED.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT IS IT,PLEASE?

  • @Jansazonov Accutane

  • @Kaileida Accutane

  • i was literally just about to message you regarding milk of magnesia being used as a primer, i have never heard this before but now people are really recommending it!!

  • oxidation*

  • thank u so much for the tips! ive already put them to use and i already see a big difference (:

  • thanks for these helpful tips i will be sure to share these with my subbies!

  • I swear by MAC oil control lotion and their new foundation Matchmaster....the ONLY things that keep me shine free morning to night! HG!

  • hey Wayne. I have a very oily scalp. Can Milk of magnesia b applied 2 da scalp as mask b4 washing? Plz reply. Thanx

  • @ninaabbas it isnt going to prevent the oil buildup as a mask, you would have to put it in your hair/scalp and rub it in and let it dry for it to be effective

  • so would you apply the milk after or before sunscreen?

  • Really? I love my face after I do my makeup in the morning. But by lunch time I hate my face! Ty I hope this works for me and I hope I can find it.

  • Wayne, I've always had flawless skin, but now at 32 I've begun to form tons of little bumps under my chin and across my cheeks that seem to be more like a tiny mass than whiteheads. It's truly hard to deal with and my makeup has never looked worse. Do you have any recommendations for this?

  • I used Milk of Magnesia and boy what a difference!!! Thank you so much for this tip. My face is so oily it looks like I'm sweating and this just helped my confidence. Looked in the mirror several times and wasn't embarrassed.

  • i also have been using it for over 10 yrs. love it. actually has helped clear up my skin and very affordable primer. bye bye oil my makeup lasts all day ..ps pores also look smaller.

  • I used Accutane for 6 months, during that time I suffered from colitis, couldn't drink because it also affects your liver and pancreas, I had super dry skin, the skin around the corners of my eyes was always red & sore and also around my mouth and nose, and my whole body itched all the time, Accutane does work but like 2 weeks after I used it my skin started to get oily again, I don't get pimples any more but all the excess oil came back.

It works but as you said it has tons of nasty side ef

  • You are so well educated & amazing when it comes to make up!

  • I think we need to keep in mind that like hair products, makeup products and medication not one certain remedy works for everyone. I love Wayne and all of his advice dont get me wrong! But there are so many different factors that make us and our beauty needs different. What works for me and is perscribed for me, might not necissarly work for you. But I like these vids cause they give ideas and tricks that we might not have thought of or tried before :)

  • I will definitely try this. My face is disgustingly greasy, and it's driving me crazy. I can swipe my hand an hour after washing my face and there will literally be oil all over my hands as if I was eating popcorn or something lol.

I hope this works for me.

  • I have oily skin, and when I don't wear primer and makeup my skin is MORE oily. So definitely listen to your skin and see what works for YOU! It doesn't hurt to try different things. I personally LOVE the Clinique Gel Moisturizer. It's a tad expensive, but the pump lasts like 5 months with AM and PM use.

  • my skin has been a pain in the butt; it is dry red and oily too and i have been haveing trouble with brackouts and red scaley patches so I have been using alcohol all over using a heavy paper towel, then I apply Eucerin calming creme over the dry areas and it has made a big defferance in the way my skin looks. in 20 min after my skin looks more natural with no red areas and the scaly patches are gone.

  • Magnificent info yet again, thank you from an oily lady! In regards to the milk of mag, you can get something called "Calm" here in the States. It's the pure form of magnesium in a powder form with no added ingredients etc. You just make a paste out of this powder and use it the same way you are using MOM. Magnesium is very useful for many things such as natural sleep aid, constipation (sorry for the TMI, LOL) etc.

  • You forgot to mention Retin-A which is the topical version of Accutane. Of course Accutane containing isotretinoin and Retin-A containing tretinoin, which are both derivatives of Vitamin A. Retin-A can decrease oil production overtime without all of the harsh side effects of Accutane. Although, Retin-A not as high strength as Accutane does a fantastic job at ridding the skin of acne, wrinkles and oil. I've used Retin-A for nearly two years and now have a beautiful Normal to dry complexion.

  • i have found the E.L.F. mattifyer to work really well for $3!

  • @EasyBakeSmiles yeah, which is due to oily skin, which is genetic...everyone who cares about their apperance knows that...

  • mine is only oily in summer :(

  • I wonder how old you are? You always seemed 32-34ish to me.

  • @jenafurr1 An inflammation of the colon. Kind of like Crohn's Disease, but not as seriou
