Its the same in America, sad to say, except we have larger populations of people who would rather tune into NPR-basically a large enough left to provide some competition to the right's dominance of radio and television. Also, our film industry has a left leaning section that has some pull, for example people like Steven Soderbergh. Also, the moderates and left in US just refuse to watch the TV marketed towards them. Italy seems like a country that is literally run by a media empire like News Co
This film is internationally oriented, it wasn't specifically designed for the Swedish audience. But sure, the fact that it was produced in Sweden might have some effect even if the director is Italian.
It would be extremely interesting if somebody did the same type of documetary on Sweden over the last 30 years and the political party that controlled Sweden's television and people.
It's a Swedish production. The video plays on sound and visual effects to impress people, but is not descriptive of Italy. The video looks like the imaginative fantasies that the less educated Swedish masses have about Italians. They like to think Italian women are the way they appear in this video, supervised by tasteless Italian men. But this video only shows one thing, that northern europeans are quite ignorant about anything that is not in their village.
Unfortunately, it's not a misconception of "less educated Swedish masses." The director of this film is Italian, he emigrated to Sweden in his 20s, like many smart young Italians whose only choice to have a career is to flee Berlusconi's videocracy. The director knows Italy very well and knows what he's talking about. Sad but true.
I probably used the wrong wording. I meant a misconception of the less internationally oriented PART of north Europeans, the ones that like to play with caricatures of other countries. The director is Italian but received Swedish financing and has to entertain the crowd the film was designed for. This is as far as it concerns images of Italian men with naked Italian dancers. However, there is a real problem in Italy and the government is not the entire cause, just the very sad result.

It is a very informative and interesting video that I recommend, as disturbing as it can get, the world today..

No dis-respect... but for a society to elect "Burlesque-ony" as president, that's pretty "F-ed" up.

Wim Wenders "till the end of the world" is the fictional predecessor to 'sconi's Italy
