  • Nice story! hopefully hshe gets 100% well.

I also have a black moor, it got a red eye the other day.. it looks like there was blood inside of the eye.. what can i do about that? i would really appreciate an answer!

Also, i moved it to a pond outside the house because the tan wasnt big enough.. there i have a koi and they keep on chasing each other all day long, is that bad? thanks again..

  • thats so nice of you!I totally agree with you 100%!!!! Its soo sad to see them die i mean they have a life too,and deserve to live it.Wal-Mart doesnt even have specific fish people for them just random bored employees just looking for something to do.thanks for sharing!

  • What a great person you are! I agree, Wal-Mart doesn't appear to take care of their fish at all, it seems. I am so happy Amaya is doing well - I have a big spot in my heart for Black Moor and she deserved to be saved. What a caring person you must be. My young Moor says hello - he's a rambunctious little guy , and he's very healthy - we wish you and your fish he best!

  • first off good for you for helping that fish , you are a good person , my black moore named Bal started acting strange this morning i.e pretty much laying on the bottom to the tank in the corner with her fins down, she ate when i fed her , but did not go crazy like she always does. got home from work same thing only did not eat much and was just kinda floating around the tank with all her fins tucked in . idk what to do . i love this fish , she is my friend & she needs help. where do i start?

  • There was this black moor in fiesta, national city, and yah same story

  • Aww, youre sweet. Everytime I buy a fish from dirty walmart, I say I've rescued them too :)

  • magscat I was at walmart and brought the attention to a store clerk that there was a dying goldfish stuck to the filter so she said oh well i will throw it away and I said NOOOO I'll take it so I got it free and it is now in a hospital tank with a sponge filter and life gaurd I hope it lives. If it does I am going to get him his own tank with live plants gravel and 10 percent water changes weekly. If it lives i am also going to treat for paracites. how can I tell if it has them? thanks Mikey

  • I too have rescued my fancy goldfish from Walmart. I used to have a seventyfive gallon salt water tank, and now I have nine goldfish in it; most of them from Walmart. I do want to say though,I've talked to the woman in that department, and they are always taking her somewhere else in the store to work, and she actually comes in on her own time to care of the fish tanks! It is really sad! They get some beautys in there, that die within hours or days!

  • good for you, you must be a really cool person. and fuck walmart for how they treat fish. even when i was a kid it saddened me.

  • touching story.... =)

  • also i have ich :( only the moor tho. and i am treating him with tetra medica. he is active and eating.how long for it to go away?

    also added salt

  • beautiful video.

i wlould like to ask one thing. you said you used the media from an existing tank to set up a hosptial tank. well my situation is a little different, i have a 10 gallon i would like to upgrade to 40 gallons. i dont have much room for two tanks and to wait for the new one to cycle before transfering the fish over. could i take EVERYTHING from my old tank, and put it in the new tank with some new gravel and plants and use the old filter pls a new filter? would this work?

  • This is a really nice video, the fish is lucky you came by that day!! Never been to a Wal-mart before, don't think we have them in England but if they treat any animals/fish like this then that is disgusting and needs to be addressed! Thanks for posting.

  • my black moore has a white in his gills (thin layer) and litte white in here bottom is that a disease?

  • @aljondavid I would be reluctant to confirm a disease with out seeing what it is you're actually talking about. However, I watched the videos you posted of your 25gallon tank and as badly over stocked as it is then finding one or more diseased fish with in that population is highly likely.

  • Man, I'm glad you rescue your fish! I was going to rescue two red eye tetras (my friends kept them in a tiny drinking glass and fed them goldfish food), but they died next time I was over there (big surprise). Good to know someone cares about their fish. :D

  • I have deep respect for you my friend.

  • how is she now? :D

  • @happieeyore Doing well as far as I know. I adopted her out to a lady that spoils her rotten.

  • You are a true hero

  • Hi my black moor died today. i got him yesterday :'(. I still curiouse why he did die. this morning i went to feed him and he was at the bottem of tank upside down he was still breathing and everything. And he suddenly stopped and died. why was he upside down

  • @smileyflyz There's alot of reasons it could have died. If your tank was too small, under-filtered, over stocked, or uncycled this could have exposed you fish to highly toxic water conditions. Being as you just got him it could be that he was already weakened from a stressful shipping process, crowded and diseased conditions. It could even be a combination of all of the above. I would need to know alot more specifics in order to tell you exactly why your fish passed away.

  • this story is so sad and i think wat u id for amaya is rlly sweet :) xxxx

  • plz help me my black moor keeps getting white spots! i think its ich but im not sure its right near her eye but then it goes away nad then comes back and aslo lately she has been fin flicking and her fins keep twitching wat should i do

  • @petluv6646 If the white spots only appear in the head and never spread anywhere else that means your SHE is a HE. Congratulations! it's a boy ^_^ Those are called breeding stars which only male goldfish get. Fin flicking can be caused by any irritant. Parasites are a major concern but check your water quality before reaching for a bottle of meds. High ammonia or low ph could be burning your fish.

  • @magscat3161 ok thnx but ik tht its a SHE since she actually did spaun like three months ago with my old goldfish Tiger r.i.p and she was packed with eggs but sadly none hatched which was really weird i didnt think tht she was old enough cuz she is only about 3 inches and i do know wat the breeding tubercals are though

  • i hav a black moor goldfish do you think i could put mine in a pond? since they said its not good for there eyes

  • @petluv6646 Moors do just fine in a pond as long as you don't have comets or commons picking on them. I summer all my moors outside and they always seem better for it. I don't leave them out in the winter. Temperatures consistently below 50 degrees tend to cause organ damage in short bodied fancy goldfish.

  • @magscat3161 oh ok thnx yea i would only put my black moor goldfish queen in there from mid spring to mid fall

  • Desperate help needed here! I just bought a new batch of goldfishes for my 90Gallon tank yesterday, consists of 3 small ranchu, 2 small oranda and 2 small black moor. And sadly today, both my black moor died! And i noticed bite marks on their bodies and their fins are badly eaten! Pls don say I'm cruel coz i have no idea that this will happen :( I really wanna keep black moor goldfishes, any recommandations on how i can keep them peacefully with the other goldfishes???

  • @gabybareto Is the discus and Angels still in the tank? I watched your video and am assuming this is the same tank you lost the moors from. Generally it's discouraged to keep tropical fish with goldfish since their needs so widely vary. As long as water quality is good and you are not over crowding your tank moors usually get along just fine with other fancy goldfish.

  • @magscat3161 I think what may have happened is you simply bought two moors that were already sick. Once they passed the bodies were scavenged by the other fish. You didn't see any aggression towards them while they were alive did you?

  • @magscat3161 its the same tank but its a new batch of goldfishes. And there's no more angels and discus in it. All of my goldfishes are ard 6cm in length. So, shld i stop buying black moor for now? Or shld i buy the black moor goldfish that is bigger than the other goldfishes?

  • @gabybareto I don't see any reason for you to stop keeping moors. I think you probably just bought to moors that were already sick to begin with. I would try finding fish from a different source and quarantining them before adding them to your current population.

  • this is going to be one of my fish in my first fish tank i get in a few weeks. also nothing natural should be abused and this video is a PERFECT example of the love and compassion we show towards natural creatures. You deserve a medal

  • @alexfilma16 Thank you dear. Make sure you cycle the tank before you put any fish in. Don't want to make your new baby sick ^_^.

  • your a good person =)

  • what is fin flicking a sign of? thanks.

  • @Jeffalbel22 You often see fin flicking right before a bad ich outbreak or when they have flukes or lice.

  • @magscat3161 Thanks again.

  • She's beautiful! I love rescue stories, but this is the first time a fish story has touched my heart! The care you have for these little loved creatures shines like the sun! Keep up the good work! Very touching ;)

  • @morningsnightowl Thank you dear ^_^ just b/c a fish doesn't have fur doesn't mean it's not a pet. It deserves just as much respect and proper care as any other animal stuck in human care. Like many fish I've rescued this one has been adopted out to some one who dearly loves her and takes great care of her.

  • So that means that i should rescue goldfish from wal mart or no

  • @kenny123663 Only if they give them to you. I don't buy fish from there b/c it just supports the horrible conditions they keep them in.

  • Wow, good job for nursing her back to health! :)

  • yes please! that would be awesome. I returned the fish today and the black moor's fin is not clamped anymore.

  • @JDKaxl I'm going to send you a personal msg with instructions so you'll have them handy in your own mail box incase you need to double check them.

  • @TheMarbleStoneHorses Goldfish can be kept alone, though they seem to be "happier" when they have company. You could keep a young goldfish in a 10gallon but an adult fish needs 20-50gallons depending on the breed of fish. Keep in mind that fancy breeds get anywhere from 6-10inches while common type breeds grow to a foot or more. These animals also live upto 10+ yrs when well cared for.

  • your fish has ICK, you can tell by the white spots.

  • @ScienceFreak320 um...yeah I know lol. She had ick, anchor worms, fin rot, gill flukes, a bacterial ulcer, fungal infection, intestinal parasites and lost most of her slime coat. But I brought her back to health....That's kinda what I do lol.

  • I'm going to keep black moor and return the other one tomorrow. and today i noticed the black moor have ich. I don't know what to do now...is ich fatal?

  • @JDKaxl Ich can be fatal if left untreated. The safest way to treat ich is a .3% salt solution for the tank for 5-7days. Do you need specific instruction on how to administer this?

  • hi a week ago I got one black moor and one oranda in 10 gallon tank with filter and the black moor have clamped fins... the fin opens only when I give him food and i noticed small hole. I'm doing partial water change with salt and it's not getting better. should i get medicine?

  • @JDKaxl Your tank is not cycled and you have too many fish in it. That's part of why your fish is unwell. Young goldfish need at least 10gallons per fish with filtration that turns over 10x the volume of the tank every hour. Adult goldfish need 20-50 gallons per fish depending on breed. Medicating the fish will not help it until you have good, stable water quality. If you can get water quality under control then the fish will probably bounce back with little to no medication.

  • Did you cycle the tank before you put her in because I bought a new tank for some goldfish and iwas wondering if I could pit them in sooner as in like 3 weeks they are fancy

  • @5647pokemon I used filter media from and established healthy system. I also tested and changed the water every day to ensure that she was not effected by any bumps in the cycle and to keep ammonia from building up in the small tank.

  • Cani I keep a Sara something I forget but I know it's a comet in a 80 gallon with two black moors

  • @5647pokemon Do you mean a sarasa comet? You could but it's ill-advised to house faster, sometimes more aggressive, comets with slower, visually impaired fish like moors. The comets have a tendency to eat all the food before slower breeds can find it and they are known to harass slower fish. Really bad comets will even stress some fancy breeds to death.

  • Nvm that I screwed up I words

  • Cani I keep one Sara something I ford

  • hi i was wondering how many little feeder fish can i keep in a 15 gallon

  • @coolecoolcool those little "feeders" will grow up to 10+ inches long. Honestly I wouldn't put any in a 15gallon tank. They really belong in a pond. Why not try shoals of guppies or tetras for a small tank like a 15g? You still get the bright colors with out the mess and complicated care that goldfish require to thrive.

  • @magscat3161 well i am a big animal lover but they will be fed even though i hate seeing them die my turtles have to eat and i mean like the little 13 cents one but i get wat u mean please please please make a breeding video though

  • @coolecoolcool Goldfish are not good for your turtle. (I keep turtles too) Goldfish are high in fat, contain mild toxins, usually harbor intestinal parasites and generally are just not very nutritious. A better prey item for your turtle would be glass shrimp, feeder guppies, eastern gambusa, or silversides.

I don't advocate breeding for just about any kind of pet. I run an aquatic rescue and right now I have over 700 good reasons to not encourage breeding.

  • hi, im thinking of getting a baby one but how big of a tank? i have a 25 gallon tank will that be enough? how big will it get and how fast will it grow? thanks!!!!

  • @MrOrangegoldfish As adults fancy goldfish need 20-30 gallons per fish. black moors can get anywhere between 6-10inches long. They should grow up to an inch per year until they hit sexual maturity at around 5yrs old. At that point they continue to grow at a slower rate.

  • also can you post an update video of amaya. =)))))))))))!!!!!!!!! i would love to c her in her happy home.

  • h soon 2 males and 2 females and no i am not going to purposley try to breed them but if it happens i will c what happens. =)

  • would i be able to keep 6 goldfish 5 cory cats and a pleco (gibby) because if thats the problem i will do that and i never wanted to stop listening to you i loved your advice but sadly after the black moores eye started to inflate and blood going away it died. =(((((( at least it didn't have to suffer any more. p.s. he was always a weak fish but tell me and i will do that if you want to buy them from me i will sell them to you?? but not all of them and i am getting a 40 gallon long with angelfis

  • Hi magscat3161 you never responded to me and i now have 5 cory cats 10 fancy goldfish and a gibby pleco. is that over crowding and i was thinking about getting a green metallic ranchu and also possibly another aquaclear 70 for a total of 900 gallons per hour and my gibby pleco has like a fungus thing on his body some parts of him his color is pretty much all gone on some days i'm not sure what it is i treated for fungus because my red cap oranda had fungus but it didn't help my pleco and advice.

  • @mikeydude319 I stopped responding b/c you made it clear that you weren't going to take advice that was an inconvenience to your selfish methods of fish keeping. I can't help some one unwilling to listen or who thinks they already know everything. Unfortunately for your fish, you're one of those people who will have to kill alot of them to finally get it but as much as it sucks that just life for some

  • Hello I bought 2 black moors today and they have Orange bellys and black everywhere else! There very cute and there in there tank now they were acting fine at the pet store but now there acting a bit funny is it because of the travelling, stress? Do you think? I think im just overrreacting! :)

  • @MrRawrllyX How big is the aquarium and did you just set it up?

  • @magscat3161 There in with 2 goldfishes that we have had for 2 years in a 110 litre tank there acting fine now except at night they lay down alot i think they get tired? Lol

  • @MrRawrllyX fish do sleep you know lol. Many of mine settle in the same spot every night to go to sleep.

  • @magscat3161 lol yeah :)

  • HI Olivia , i just have a question about a friend goldfish ( pom pom ) that fish has a internal infection i guess .. to this point his poo is black color , any idea whats he need to do ? this guy live in argentina so he can't have acces to get medicated food like metro - med or medi - gold , i advice him to feed the fish with metrodinaozle blended in a gel food but the fish stills wake and inactive with dorsal down ... Thanks

  • @jenruchito76 What's the ratio of the mix he's using? It sounds as if he might be overdosing.

  • @magscat3161 ok , you mean overdosing in the metrodinazol on gel food ? i will ask him ... i will let to know later.. thanks

  • It's 2 a.m. here. I have been waiting to see if you were going to respond with some advice to me on what to do for Marcie.

  • @cashion42 Again I apologize. Keeping fish can be a complicated hobby. I've been doing it for so many years and still learn something new everyday. Often little things missed can determine how effective a treatment can be and I fear that if I don't fully explain something then your pet could suffer for my mistake.

  • No don't apologize please....I need to know much more than I ever dreamed I would have to know in order to have fish. And i appreciate you helping me so much. I have been on the Internet for hours at a time the past week trying to find someone to help me. Some of the information that was just out there....like feeding peas...told me what to do but now how much....or if peas was all I was to feed her. I want her to get well so bad! She is just gorgeous.

  • Hello magscat3161....I have been waiting to hear from you. I am very worried about my beautiful fish. Can you advise me please.

  • @cashion42 I have replied dear I'm sorry it took me a little longer than expected. I was trying to cover everything and SBD in goldfish is a pretty broad topic. I really do want to help you and your fish so please forgive me for making you wait.

  • Oh thank you so much!

  • I have a sick Moor too. It has swim bladder disease and I don't know how to help it. I don't know if it's a male or female, I don't know how to tell. Anyway, watching your video gives me hope for my fish whom I call Marcie. Can you help me with my fish?

    ritac

  • @cashion42 I will try to help you via personal msg. There simply isn't enough room here. Expect a message from me with in the next 30 minuets.

  • HI olivia , i see that you feed your goldies brine shrimp ... i've struggled with frozen live foods ... my golds mainly orandas , ranchus , tends to float after eat live foods and they did't get overfeding , what would be the cause of this ?

  • @jenruchito76 Fancy goldies are bad for developing protein allergies (which in many individuals manifests it's self as swim bladder problems). Try feeding a meaty food only once a week. Stick to mostly fruits and veggies.

  • @magscat3161 Thanks Olivia , i just feed them hikari oranda pellets and green peas .. thats it .. but am go to try to make a gel food too ... what kind of fruits are good for them ?

  • @jenruchito76 they can eat pretty much anything you can as long as it's bitesized. Mine really enjoy organic baby foods. especially the apples and blueberries mix.

  • @magscat3161 organic baby foods , thats interesting ! how you feed thhat food ? like gel food right ? freezing first ...

  • @jenruchito76 Most people mix it into gel foods. My fish are so tame I just feed it to the as is from a syringe.

  • @magscat3161 i have a syringe so i will try like that ! thanks for the advice Olivia ...

  • WOAHHHHH ur greattt! im canadian and a few of our walmarts have stopped selling fish because of all the complaintsss!

  • What an amazing job you did getting this fish back to health!

  • i only have my black moor in the tank; the tank has a smaller filter . the tank is 5.0 aqueon aquarium so I'm using the filter it came with. b4 i put my black moor in the tank , i named mine Shadow ; i put in goldfish protect , goldfish aquarium cleaner , n some of the bag water that Shadow was in. is the filter that it came with too small 4 this size of a tank ? because I'm looking 4 a friend 4 Shadow.

  • @dragonair2000 Goldfish require alot of space and filtration. Adults need at least 20 gallons per fish and a filtration system that turns over 10x the volume of the enclosure every hour. They also need regular water changes. My largest fancy goldfish is almost the size of a dinner plate and she's not the biggest one I've ever seen. Housing the fish in an inappropriate environment will stunt it's growth and shorten it's lifespan. Many of these fish can live 10yrs or more with proper care.

  • k .. what about water temperature ? it says that if black moor is kept in water that is constantly it will lose its black coloring . does cold water help a black moor 2 keep its black coloring ? i don't have thermometer 4 my tank.

  • @dragonair2000 That has more to do with stress in the fish. Temps that are consistently too high will stress the fish. If it goes on for long enough the fish may begin to change color. Goldfish are considered a cold-water species and need lower temps. Poor water quality can also cause them to loose color so it is important to ensure the aquarium is not over stocked or under filtered.

  • i don't have any color enhancing gold fish food. i do have tetra fin , Atlantis , n omega one . what fruit n veggies do u give a black moor ?

  • @dragonair2000 tetrafin and omega one both contain color enhancers. I've never bought atlantis so I'm unsure of it's ingredients. You can give your black moor pretty much any plants you can eat. Mine like bananas, pears, apples, oranges, spinach, zucchini, romaine lettuce, peas, and broccoli just for starters. Veggies should be cooked with out salt before you feed them. I feed live brine shrimp or chopped up earth worms for treats once a week. This ensures they're getting enough protein.

  • you r very kind person 2 give a goldfish a good loving home. i do have a question though .. i have a black moor , how do u get a black moor 2 keep its black coloring ?

  • @dragonair2000 Avoiding "color enhancing" foods helps. If you keep them on mostly fruits and veggies the color tends to stick better. It also depends on the genetics of the individual animal. Some black moors will keep a good solid black no matter what but those who have fairly recent colored moors in their blood line can start black and then change.

  • Might I ask what you used for the Fin rot? You see, I bought a Moor, and after bringing him home I noticed he had some fraying on his fins, I began to use Melafix, and after the 7 days I figured he'd be okay. But now, it seems his fins have become far worse. They're split horribly. It's not sharp objects scratching him. And I thought using the meds would treat it. Some people say it's stress, and I wouldn't doubt that either. I was thinking of using some Biobandage. Could you please help me?

  • @MulticoloredOctopus5 Did you put the fish in a tank that was just set up? Do you know what the ammonia levels are in the tank? How big is the tank and how much filtration does it have? Melafix is very good for fin rot if the fish is being housed properly. As the fish is getting worse it leads me to believe that something is amiss with your water quality.

  • @magscat3161 He's in a 20 gallon with 3 other tank mates.((They're all small now, and I'm hoping to buy a larger tank very soon)) I have one of the side hanging filters, and it seems to be clean and working well. I have not checked the ammonia yet, I just recieved a kit yesterday to do so. But I put some stress coat in the water to balance ammonia and help with injuries. The water we use is well water. As far as the tank set up, the tank was running for about a week when we bought the fish.

  • @MulticoloredOctopus5 I have replied to your concerns via personal msg. There is simply too much information to convey in this space. I hope that the information I have provided is helpful in restoring health and well being to your pets.

  • soooo pretty, i wish walmart would sell more like her and keep them alive. my black moor's still a baby

  • You my friend, are a true hero. :')

  • Hi! I saw you cured that black moors diseas all of them! My black moor has something wrong with it I bought him well 2 at the weekend. I noticed on his tail he has a white bit on it then a red blob looks chewed im pretty sure its not! I have asked a few people but havent got replys yet! I really want to know what it is so I can cure it and my other dont get it I dont know what it is! Help!

  • Amaya is beautiful! how the heck did Walmart get moors like that?

  • @Syford Eh every once in a while they get a diamond in the rough. Even in the write off bucket and in as bad a shape as she was in I could tell she wasn't your average wally world moor.

  • woooah casi lloro con la historia

  • I watched this video a year ago and still find it amazing. I totally agree with all you have said and dont listen to those people blind enough to not see that what you do gets results and has saved a life. Thankyou for your amazing video and wonderful fish :)

  • @fndrjbass I'm not "all knowing" when it comes to fish but I have been doing this for a long damn time. I know what works with and for these animals and what doesn't and I get tired of ppl who go and ask for advice but want to complain when they can't handle the facts or don't "feel" like investing more time or money into a life they've made themselves responsible for.You asked how to keep the damn thing alive and I told you. If you can't accept it then that's your problem not mine.

  • @fndrjbass keeping goldfish is not like keeping other species of pet fish, I know b/c I've been studying them and doing it for 23yrs. but HEY what the hell do I know. Keep doing shit your way and watch it linger and die.

  • @fndrjbass Young fancy goldfish need a bare minimum of 10gallons per fish and 10x the volume of the aquarium turned over every hour for filtration. If you want your fish to stay alive get it out of that little death trap some told you was adequate for it. Check out free forums like Koko's Goldfish world dot com for reliable info on goldfish care. Taking care of goldfish is not like keeping other species of pet fish.

  • Im so upset by this. Fish is still a living thing! I went to a Walmart shop to look at the fish. Wen i saw lovely colourfull rare ballon mollies given birth, the fish keeper netted them up and fed them to the goldfishes. I was like OMFG, i sed to him the baby mollies had nice colouration and that he cud sell them wen bigger. He sed that they r only just fish. HOW LOW CAN U GET . wot a nipple crater . i like this, i bye animals to help them get a better life x

  • good for her..

  • i rescued a fish at walmart that was dying of hunger i bought him so he woudnt die of hunger walmart dosent feed their fish thier cruel.

  • I think what you did is so sweet id love to rescue a fish but I dont think id be able to help it since I have only been looking after fish for just over 3 Months. Maybe id get a 20 Gallon and look after 2 fish with a broken bone because at fish stores I dont exspect they would do much just get rid of it or chuck food in and the fish wont be able to swim up.

Anyway what you did was very kind, You must of used alot of medicine

  • @MrRawrllyX I try to use as few medications as possible. When it comes to fish and meds, more is usually less. This one was pretty bad off though. For her I used salt, metro meds antibiotic fish food, medi-worm, and prazi-pro. Also changed her water twice a day.

  • @magscat3161 I bet she loves you like crazy! <3

My moor has been laying at the back of the tank with the other two fish when I go over they swim and see me but when I leave they just lay back down sometimes they dont even come up is there something wrong with them? I also noticed one was swimming about it tried to play but then he just led on one of them! It doesent seem normal

  • your a god ^^i rescued a pleco once it died 5 monthafter *sob!!!!!!

  • Also goes to show that YOU CAN SAVE A SICK fish... but most people don't try - which is frustrating also...

  • WOW!! GO YOU! I've seen the same things at local petshops.. mostly walmart.. bleh - walmart should NOT BE ALLOWED to sell fish.. I've reported their horrid conditions to the mangement but they don't care... Anyway, sad things is that that moor you saved is quite a specimin! It's a lovely Moor!! What a beautiful quality one at that you saved! I had a 60 gallon right now with a few goldfish I really love - if you care for them, they are wonderful pets - each with their own personalities.

    Go you!

  • @RyukinPrincess I really enjoy them and seem to be particularly good bring back a death-bed-special. I don't really buy fish any more. I get most of mine from people who don't want their's or manager write offs. It's sad that more people don't try to treat their sick fish b/c most of the time they're cheap and easy fixes. Clean water and a little salt fixes alot of problems for them.

  • very beautiful fish and story. I like persons like you!!!

(excuse me for my bad english)

  • Great story! That always bothered me too.

  • Such a touching story:) and can i ask for some help? i have a 5 gallon fish tank and i want to get a black moor. I would like to know how long i can keep it in there before switching to a 10 gallon tank and how big can it grow in a 10 gallon tank. Thanks for taking time to read this.

  • @fatty1190 Young goldfish need a bare minimum of 10gallons with a filter that turns over 10x the volume of the aquarium every hour. depending on the genetics of the fish, with a quality diet and provided you keep the tank really clean with regular water changes it can reach a good 3inches. keep in mind though that an adult black moor needs 20-30gallons.

  • @magscat3161 so only 3 inches in a 10 gallon tank? What about a 15 gallon? do you know how big it can get in a 15 gallon? and Yes i will make weekly water changed and keep the tank clean.

  • he is a very beutiful fish with a harsh background... you saved him from dieing and that was very nice. i have a black moor also i rescued him also. he was being bullied by the other fish and his fins were so torn up that he could barely swim. but with love and lot a melafix he is now 1,000 times better i think it is nice that you rescue fish like that.. i think there should be some kind of rescue organation for fish just like there is for cats and dogs :)

  • @2smart4uandu There are a few dedicated hobbyists who run rescues but they aren't easy to find. Other than myself I know of those in Phoenix AZ, Reno NV, LaGrange GA, and Va Beach VA.

  • hey i just got a blacl moor also and i was wondering if u could give me some tips. and i no what u mean i was at walmart and the betta fish that were in the small containers looked dead.

  • @dustinbailen16 Tips; with goldfish you can never have too much filtration, water changes are your fish's best friend, avoid flake food like a plague, and don't take advice from anyone trying to sell you something lol. I won't even visit the fish section in my wal-mart anymore. I can't handle seeing all that needless death anymore.

If you want I can send you the address for my free goldfish forum. There's a ton of detailed info on goldie care there. ^_^

  • @dustinbailen16 ya i would really like that can u send me that address?

  • ticklemesilver08 petsmart has dead fish too i saw one

  • hello!!i'm glad i watched this video!your story is beautiful!i bought a black moor 3 days ago and i'm very anxious because i don't know how to take care of it..i 've put it (i don't know if it's a he or she) in a fishbowl that contains about 1,5 litres of water because i cannot afford to buy a bigger one yet...i don't want it to get very big!what i would like to ask you is how often should i refresh its water and how much water conticioner should i put in it...plz answer!thanx a lot!:)

  • @user160492 I'm going to answer your question via personal message b/c there's just not enough room here to provide an in depth answer.

  • That's so touching. (: Thank you so much for rescuing the poor dear. I'm sure she is doing very well in your care. :] Needless to say, I am disgusted with walmart and I am so glad that they stopped selling their stock of fish. Petsmart is the better choice, in my opinion. :]

  • @TickleMeSilver08 I don't really care much for pet stores in general. I know it depends on who's managing it as to how well the fish (and other pets) are cared for. I've been to several PetsMart stores where the fish were all diseased and dieing and no one was doing anything about it, the fish were still for sale. It makes me sad but people don't see them as living, breathing, feeling animals. All they see are $ or a component of interior decorating.

  • im so happy that she survived!

  • What a beautiful girl you have and what a wonderful person YOU are.

Makes me damn mad the way fish are treated as if they havent got any feelings at all, dont people realise how intelligent and sensitive they are.

If only everybody was like you, the world would be a much better place, god bless xx

  • What rotten b*********ds these people are, dont they realise fish have feelings too!!

Well done by the way, i think i would off done the same xx

  • Hello! What a wonderful story, very sad but such a happy ending (:

So, I wanted to ask, What size tank does one of these need to live in? I want to get a pair for my girlfriend and need all the info possible! I keep a nano reef tank, I am no new fish keeper. I just want to know everything there is to know about these pretty little fishies. Thanks! Luke.

  • @FullTimeExperts I replied to your comment via personal msg. Hope the information helps ^_^

  • She's beautiful. Her top fin is gorgerous. I really can't believe Wal-Mart.. The ones by my house are very bad with fish. I've bought some from there, and they were pathetic, but now they're big happy fish. I'm glad that she made it!

  • hi I'm new at having fish...and I know a lot of people have said that fish bowls aren't the good for fishes...and that they stunt growth but I had absolutely no problem with it and my fish grew pretty fast and was very active and would hand feed and everything...today i purchased another blackmoor and moved them to a slightly bigger tank and noticed that her poop is thickish orangish and she's sitting at the bottom of the tank and or floating to the top as if she's gasping for air...

  • I've replied to this comment via e-mail. I hope the information I've provided will be of some use to you. ^_^

  • that is so amazing!!! I have a question for you.I have a 2 year old black moor and 8 common goldfish.they are getting to big for the tank they are in now and i'm thinking about moving them to a big pond outdoors would my black moor be okay out there? or is it a bad Idea? I just feel bad about separating them they have all grown up together lol

  • The black moor can go out from mid spring to early fall depending on the climate you live in. You don't want to leave it out in water temperatures consistently below 50 degrees F. Moors do very well in a pond environment during the prime months of the year but should be brought back in over the winter.

  • @magscat3161 thank you for the information!

  • what song is that and by whom?

  • @hunterallen48 it's called "Mist Covered Mountains of Home" and I have no idea who is playing it.

  • There should be more people like u! U are very kind and loving. im so glad u saved this bautiful fishy! and yes i ABSOLUTELY agree that wal-mart should NOT sell fish...they dont even take care of it and let them die or get eaten. i bought 2 fish their. they are still with me and ive had them for about 5 years! I love them! thank u for saving this fish, i love animals of all kind (:

  • your a good man

  • congratulations on youre fishes recovery i dont think we have a walmart in england and im glad because from what youre info says they are crap and places like that shouldnt be allowed to have fish like you say its illigal for dogs to be neglected

for a fish that was once so sick she lookes great now

  • how is she doing now... and is she a black moore or a ruykin... i have black moores but they are non so pretty... theyre fins are not shaped like that.. boh..

  • She's doing fine now. Yes it is a black moore. This one would be classified as a broad tailed black moore or Demekin if it didn't come from such a disreputable as Wal-mart. I don't know where they got her from but they certainly did their level best to ruin such a diamond in the rough.

  • awesome job i rescued a goldie from waslmart i dont think mine was as bad off as yours though
