2009 Suzuki SX4 Crossover Hatchback Vs. Mini Cooper

OK so I took the bait and test drove the Suzuki yesterday. What a piece of crap this car is!

I went to the Mini dealer first and drove the S and the Cooper. I like the S better, but the Cooper is more in my price range.

I was really impressed with how the Mini handled and felt.

The I went and drove the Suzuki. OMG! What a difference from the ride, handling and brakes. No comparison - the Mini is a much sturdier, better handling car.

The mighter than a Mini is just a bold lie!

Whoever is in charge of marketing at Suzuki needs to be fired because no one thinking about buying a Mini would even think about looking at one of these.

Personally I'd get a Mini for summer/spring driving and switch to the SX4 for the winter and fall. The two actually make better friends than enemies.

This is the dumbest commercial ever in history. Nobody in the market for a Mini anything would even slightly consider the SX4.

I don't understand why they are targeting the mini. They aren't even comparable cars. The mini is a car from BMW, which is much more of a luxury, high end brand. The price and performance of the SX4 put it a lot closer to cars like the nissan versa and the honda fit. It doesn't make sense to compare it to a much more high end car like the mini. The mini, in my opinion, is a much, much better car, so why not compare the SX4 to cars in its price range where it can actually compete?

The only thing the SX4 beats the Mini on is price...a large # of customers DON'T require AWD...it gets horrible gas mileage for a 2-liter engine...

If you need "more" power (technically the SX4 has more HP, but is much slower in 0-60) opt for the Cooper S, which still gets better mileage than any iteration of the SX4.

I'm not seeing how the SX4's superior overall.

It also has -30hp / -60tq, gets worse gas mileage, and has no soul. In 5 years nobody will remember what an SX4 is.

The SX4 is just more practical. I always favored Minis and have had my share of experiences with them, and they sure are zippy little cars, but the SX4 costs less, has more features, and isn't constrained to only flat even asphalt in good weather. It can handle snow, ice, mud, rain and sand. It's kind of like a Mini on SUV steroids, just less expensive, better equipped, and without leather seats.
