I use a program called "Wire Tap Pro," but if you don't have it then I would just take any recording device, hold it up to your speakers while you're recording, and plug it into your computer to put it on your music player. Download it to your iPod etc.

Even easier, download Audacity (free audio editor), select input as Stereo Mix, and hit record - then play the song, Audacity will record right off the sound card. Quality is slightly worse than originally, but far better than your suggestion.
