this is false teaching. When we speak in tongues it is a MYSTERY a prayer language that only God understands. The gift of tongues is a true language which must be interpreted while done in church. I was brought up to speak in tongues and did and still can do but after seeking God with not just my heart and soul, I actually put my mind to it, researched scripture and history. It's pretty plain that the tongues or language that fell on the day of pentecost, enabled God's disciples to preach the good news to people in their language- it was used to break the language barrier.

When I was 8, my parents and brothers and I were visiting at a neighbor's house. They called me into the kitchen where they were talking and asked me to "speak in tongues", hoping it would "convert" our friends. I closed my eyes and said some gibberish for 30 seconds. Our friends were AMAZED. LOL I hope I'm not responsible for them joining the Christian cult because I escaped years ago! LOL

1Corinthians14 is talking about languages. If you were to go to Mexico and preach in english nobody will know when to say Amen you will need an interpreter. God will know what you are saying but the people who don't know english in Mexico wouldn't. Now, what many claim to say that The Holy Spirit speaks through them is mentioned in Acts2 where The Holy Spirit Of God spoke through His servants and everyone understood is not unknown

Is Paul being boastful when according to you he told the people he speaks more languages than anyone one of them? Your explanation is out of context.

1Co 14:14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
(I would like to hear pastor explain this scriptures i love the chappel but i pray in tongues also GOD BLESS!!)

1Corinthians14 is talking about languages. If you were to go to Mexico and preach in english nobody will know when to say Amen you will need an interpreter. God will know what you are saying but the people who don't know english in Mexico wouldn't. Now, what many claim to say that The Holy Spirit speaks through them is mentioned in Acts2 where The Holy Spirit Of God spoke through His servants and everyone understood is not unknown

and what about : 1cor14:13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.
so in your interpertation about a foreign language ? if you speak a foreign language, why the hack should you pray for interpretation ??
and when you speak in a tongue your understanding is unfruitfull ? this doesn't make sence at all
also since when is knowing a foreign language a spiritual gift ?

@renegadodk So when Paul says he speaks in the language of man and of angels? What was he referring to? Read the book of 1 Corinthians 14 in full with your "interpretation". It doesn't fit at all. Paul says that if prays in a tongue his own understanding is unfruitful, so if he was talking about me (an American) going to Mexico and speaking english not profiting the Mexicans, why wouldn't I understand myself if I talked in an unknown tongue? Why would my spirit be edified but my mind unfruitful?

I can only pray they humble themselves and become as a child and learn before they teach what they know nothing about. My Holy Bible says they were amazed that on the gentiles was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost, FOR THEY HEARD THEM SPEAK WITH TONGUES AND MAGNIFY GOD THEN OF COURSE LATER THEY WERE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST SOMETHING ELSE THAT SATAN HAS TRIED TO DESTROY

THIS IS NOT WHERE GOD COMMUNICATES thru the Holy Spirit and science has proven it is the limbic region that is active and that the speaker has no control this is the first warning to RUN!!! tHE BIBLE DOES NOT SUBSTANTIATE THE SPEAKING OF UKNOWN LANGUAGES if you speak in tongues it is a demon that speaks thru you God will never supercede our will and to take control is not God's character.

Also , I have heard tapes, and also witnessed people speaking in toungues , and the demon in the person they were praying for was responding to what the holy ghost was saying in the spirit. So what this man is saying cannot be totally accurate , based on my experience. I've heard demons beg people who were praying in tongues to stop talking. So I know its real.

Tongues are a manifestation of the holy spirit. The preacher that trained me was praying for an african man . He began to speak in an unknown toungue.. He noticed that while he was praying for the man got down on his knees and began to do some othe rhtings as well. After he prayed for him, he asked him why did he get down on his knees and do those other things while I was praying, and he him you were speaking in my native language , and God was directing me to do those things you saw.

In the beginning there was one language... God's language... after the tower of bable God did not get rid of His own language... God's language is and always will be.. It's a language of the Angels & Heaven... It's a spiritual gift God gives freely to whom ever He chooses...It pleases Him to seek His face... & to speak with Him as He chooses...

@renegadodk Also, the context of 1 Corinthians 14 was spiritual gifts not national languages. Listen to what your saying, by your logic Paul was saying to the church "it's better to prophecy then to speak your own language in a foreign land where nobody can understand you". How on Earth do you draw a contrast between prophecy and speaking your native language? That's what this whole chapter is about a contrast between prophecying and tongue talking. Does your interpretation make sense AT ALL?
