  • This is part of what made America Great (from me - a Brit)

These guys are a national treasure

  • Paul Simon is a genius.

  • @TheSarahfran .....Bounce into Graceland ? I don't think so .

....Year's ago as a paratrooper we tried not to bounce .

....We did like to groove in ,without mischief .

....At 74 I can still groove

....You got me cold I can not count the stroke's .

....I guess the Message was more important .

  • @TheSarahfran .....No .

  • @cuteoldguy I can only assume that you are not really paying attention, otherwise you would certainly see what i see. Im bouncin into Graceland, how bout you?

  • @hplwas - legend ;)

  • anyone else notice that it takes Paul two stokes to keep up with one of Willie's??

  • great song delivered by 2 equally great artists.

  • well worth a spin ...thanks for the show....

  • @potrezeb1 True.

  • kinda freaky, in a good way, to see a young Willie.

  • @TheSarahfran I mean in the opening of the video.

  • this jst makes me smile like an idiot. Sooo good.

  • 11 people will NOT be received!

  • @yvwic50 i've reason to believe WE ALL WILL B RECEIVED in GRACELAND. you don't get to arbitrarily keep people out.

  • @TheSarahfran Well if they don't like the video, they won't have a very good time. Serves 'em right.

  • Happy Birthday Paul Simon

    zum 70.

  • Happy Birthday Paul Simon

  • @TheSarahfran ...Ain't what you said just the truth .

...I hope the ghost thingy puff's up with indignation at my use of English .

...Then it should check it's spelling ,grammar and vocabulary .

    ...Another pseudo-intellectual bite's the dust .

  • look at willies hands....poor baby................still crazy after all these years, but time is certainly cruel, to take willies hands is as bad as glen cambell getting alzhiemers.

  • freaking awesome

  • pickin' an singin'...just so damn good.

I want to go to Memphis!

  • I didn't get it...Where're they're goin'?

  • Brought chills.

    thanx for uploading.

    awesome.

  • This is what it's all about! An Indian and a Jew, only in AMERICA!

  • This is version is matched by Paul Simon's Zimbabwe version.

  • This is version is match by Paul Simon's Zimbabwe version.

  • This has to be one of the best versions of Graceland that I've ever heard. These two sound so good together. There's a real energy between them, just watch them jamming together - no egos to stroke, just two epic musicians enjoying a moment of pure musical awesomeness. Love it.

  • so very good. America my friends. so very good!

  • 10 people on here who voted must be plain stupid

  • This version of this song is in my top 10 songs of all time

  • This is a pairing I never would have guessed on ... yet to hear Willie and Paul do this and "Homeward Bound," is one of the more pleasant surprises I've had in a while. Indeed, two legends, two icons ... and two men who play wonderfully together!

    OUTSTANDING!

  • Willie can sing ANYTHING and make it his. What an artist !!!!

  • This is great! I never realized how much of a country song this is. Willie's voice sounds great on this song...gives me chills. They are both legends and American icons!!

  • Love them both!Tthis could well be the best version of this song EVER :)

  • @NytCreeture give Alison Krauss' cover a listen, if you have already. Something about it gives me chills.

  • paul simon is one of those artists you can quite definitely call someone stupid or ignorant if they dont like them.

  • @Pimpmastahanhduece Actually, with the manner in which you phased that sentence, I wonder about your own ignorance and stupidity. Can you even figure what's so blatantly obtuse and incorrect about it? ;D

  • @Ghstwn umm, a slight of ignorance on my part if you took it literally, or that I didn't feel like making a well thought out statement on YouTube?

  • @Ghstwn I didn't know our spontaneous commments had to be approved by an English Professor... the song isn't dictionary and grammar perfect either, but it still touches all of us in the same place, so it's perfect, it fulfills a purpose!!!!

  • @TheSarahfran Yeah, Of course, Ok, Thank you. (That should settle that. ;)

  • @Pimpmastahanhduece You might be able to acknowledge that it is a good song, technically speaking, but if it doesn't do it for you it doesn't do it for you. I like it, but if someone else doesn't they are not necessarily stupid or ignorant. I will call you pretentious.

  • @cartens33 *i said artist, not song. I also said "dont like", you meant "Dont care for." If that type of music or style is not what you like, it no longer has an applicable opinion. I meant specifically, "Some one who feels that this artist sucks." Why would i attack the indifferent people.their are 2 kinds of people, people who like Bob Dylan, and people who haven't yet really listened to Bob Dylan.

  • i see Marty Stewart is in there too,he aint so bad neither!

  • CHILLS.......

  • these are two legends! and just because people like the one more than the other and the other way around is why they can play together!! I love this song for no more reason that they perform this song together :)

  • like a window in your heart

  • COOL ,old and older, doesn't matter who does it.

  • @gordy10uk

now i'm hoping paul lasts as long as willie!

  • I can dream with my eyes wide open , and this is one of the greathest song I ever heard.

  • God bless Willie Nelson & Paul Simon...

  • This is real music by a true country legend!

  • I fuckin love this version, so groovy :p

  • My dad does Willie Nelson's pool on Maui and I sometimes go with him and I get to see Willie if he's there......my dad even smoked a joint with him once.....pretty awsome.

  • @MrGrahamster okay,

    thats cool

  • They are the best.

  • Thank you for posting two of the best songwriters of a generation. There are many more, of course, but this is ONE of the moments to be savored.

  • Incredible

  • Thank a mil for this - two of my all-time fave artists singing a great song - brilliant!!

  • So damn good! Willie and Paul.

    Fuck me blind.

  • tres bon duo !!! just listen to the music made by two fantastic and uniek artists !!

thanks for posting this version . ( I had it from Simon in Zimbabwe a some years ago )

    willy

  • superb

  • Well done.

  • Beautiful. One of the finest and original Rockabilly songs ever. Paul Simon's inspiration for writing this was from Elvis's Mystery Train

  • Paul and Willie are right, we should all go to Graceland, long live the King, ELVIS

  • i dont think any other person other than willie could have done this song justice. having paul simon there with him just proves he would feel the same way. great song and vid. thanks for posting it.

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT WILLIE AND PAUL WOW !!!! Love it Graceland, Peace and Love.

  • love it ! two of the best ever !

  • Ilove this clip ,it is an absolutely fantastic performance from two of the greats.,

  • Comment removed

  • Rock on :) thanks for the vid. great mems from the 60's and on. And on. And here today.

  • Two legends!

  • legends know how to play and perform :)

  • Excellent!

  • for me, this performance boils down to the last eight bars: Obviously they had sung and played in beautifully, but without the perfectly planned harp, guitar run & fiddle, playing exactly where. in one measure, it suddenly ends. ~ttt~

  • love it! just love it!

  • melancholy settles in.... miss you Dad!

  • wow. Absolutly awesome.

  • 2 legends pay tribute to the King of rock and roll, great music, indeed

  • yes.....just enjoy.....or leave no comment!

  • Willy looked like an Average Joe until he got older and turned to the Indian style.

  • @ejgiv that's one of the funniest/dumbest things i've ever read! LOL

  • I say losing love is like a window in your heart

everybody see's you've been blown apart

    everybody hears the wind blow

    That about sums up life.

  • Who are the 5 SOB's who don't like this? I'll meet you in person!

  • love the lyrics and the lilting music. it carries me far away.

  • simply FANTASTIC thanks for posting!!!

  • é de ouvir e chorar por mais!!!!!

  • This is drop dead music making. Does it get any better?

  • This is drop dead music making. Does it get any better?

  • good ole willie.

  • My god - how fantastic; wish I would've been there. Cheers J

  • Willy doesn't sound too good next to Paul.

  • Happy Birthday Willie! 30th April! Long live Willie.

  • I love this song! Thank you

  • WILLIE!

  • such an epic song.

  • pickin is so good. 2 legends.

  • if we disagree...that is hate? ....ah...just shut up....and listen?

  • if we disagree...that is hate? ....ah...just shut up....and listen?

  • if we disagree...that is hate? ....ah...just shut up....and listen?

  • so...just listen and shut up? NAH....

  • I saw Willie with Dylan and he was amazing. As for Simon, I love this guy, this song, and this video. I love people that post their love of either the music or the video. I agree with 68kira. Keep the hate and your negative comments for you therapist.

  • @bukakkesake

please stop making us look like a nation of ignorant morons

  • Anybody Else [like little ol' me] Watch with Amazement @ How these 2 cats Get just look back at the last 8 bars, smile at 10 band-members? --- AND THEN 1-2-3-4 They All End on the same Final Arpeggio Dahht, Dooo, Dahht . . ... DUHHHHHH!!! I LOVE those last 8 bars, the smile on Willie's Face, & Paul. So Happy, So Serene. What a Wonderful Song he Gave this CRAZY United States of America, the day he Wrote THIS Song!! No??

  • Good spot, dude. I was ignoring the last 8 bars, but now that I watch it more closely, I see Paul Simon, who played very intricate guitar on lots of songs over the years, embracing his role as rhythm guitar player on one of his own songs opposite another musical genius. You can see it in Simon's face -- he is a youngster truly enjoying music again. And the song itself is incredible.

  • could listen to willie all day and night he truely is the greatest would love to meet him one day

  • Outstanding. American classic.

  • Saw Wille and family last night in Ft Myers

    He is still rockin em . .. . .!

    Go Willie forever. . . .

  • been lookin' around the "tube". seems the Real Folk...the truly honest, out there, blatant to a fault are the one's still carrying on even at an age we'd long ago thought meant being forgotten. I mention JR Cash Neil Young and Willie nelson to start.

  • (also) Art of the Wheel

  • HeartFelt and Holy

  • Willie Nelson is the sort of singer that seems to be able to sing any song and make it his own

  • class act all the way...thank you for sharing

  • Fantastic!

  • go ahead unlce willie play that giutar all the way to Graceland

  • Happy birthday Willie. Smoke 'em. I am.

    Happy birthday!

  • We're talkin' Willie Nelson here.

  • here's some tips i'll share... 1. when you select a song close your eyes and just listen.. its music 2. if you liked it then sure watch the clip 3. if you really like it cool to comment on the why hows and whens it means to you.. 4. avoid arguments on personal preferences of the artists.. fashion, appearance. instruments chosen, ect 5. if it not your cup of tea, fair enough.. move forward.. no need to comment.. that will help people with no. 4. and u-tube will be a better shared site.

  • @68kira ...nice

  • @68kira hope ye dont mind if i cut an paste that on to a few vids:D

  • @markbong :-) not at all

  • @68kira

Can this please be applied to all videos

  • @68kira any way you can bottle this common sense and sell it to all the people who can not see or think with common sense

  • @68kira I'm glad most people realize that in a free (and healthy) society disagreement is always welcome and hopefully actively encouraged. Mere "tip" or not, I think that silencing anyone ("no need to comment") is antisocial. Sorry if you disagree. :)

  • @68kira u should be a politician. thanks for telling us all what to do.

  • @68kira You obviously don't understand, if you type convincingly enough, arguing for long enough, then you can actually change someone's opinion on music, odd as it sounds it works. In fact preaching preferences like this can lead to other changes, i'd recommend trying it with political views and religion, only good things come from these kinds of arguments.

  • @68kira Alright kids can we stop fighting now? YouTube is not the forum to do it. Just bloody enjoy the videos and fight in your own time. YouTube has to have opinions negative and positive I agree. Just don't get into a heated debate for goodness sake.

  • your comment was the most sensible I have read on you tube, I was a teenager in the 60s and did not have access to all this fabulous music then , however I am enjoying it now , except all the negativity posted about who is the best and worst etc , as you say just enjoy or move on, we all like different things in life , respect other peoples choices and freedom.

  • God bless Willie Nelson.

  • According to Martin's website they made 100 WIllie Nelson Signature Trigger models in 1999. One can only wonder what they cost at that time and how difficult it would be to get one today. Doubtful that Mastercard's 'Priceless' would cover the cost .... This video really rocks, I watch it over and over. The best of many worlds!

  • What beautiful men especially my sweet Willie Nelson.

  • Willie...what more to say! Ugly guitar and all. But the Man. Willie. Pickin' and grinnin'.

    Porkified.

  • This set ROCKS! Listening to it over and over. Greatest of all R&R - Go WILLIE Play it, Paul. What a genius. We all going to Graceland ....

  • Everybody eventually goes to Graceland! :)

  • This song makes me tear up every single time. And Willie...well, Willie dont hurt it none at all, either. Thanks for posting this. It's wonderful.

  • Great come back ** porkified ***

    damn near pissed my self

  • FABULOUS!!!

  • obviously then the Mona Lisa needs a good scrubbin', HUH taylor8492?

  • "taylor8492", you're not too bright are you? That's a Martin N20 Classical, over 40 years old. Even in this condition, because of who owns it and it's iconic status, it's probably worth well over $500.000.00 US.

  • Comment removed

  • His signature? The signatures of basically every country artist in existance, as well as other artists are on there. Maybe you better look closer.

  • You...Are an idiot. That is a piece of country music history...$20,000? Is Willie an icon? All I can really do is shake my head at you and say: "Whuuuuut?"

That Martin IS county music...Distilled, rarefied, embodied, and personified...Yes he could easily get half a mil probably more for it. Some Japanese music freak with more money than brains would probably has his people write the check in an instant.

  • @taylor8492 I would love to get my hands on Willie guitar for $20,000. $500,000 may be a little high. But you never can tell at an auction. It would bring the same money as Gene Autry's D-45, "Blackie'" or Django Reinhart's Jazz Manouche. It is the instrument of a master and the value is more than intrinsic. When Clapton sold some of his collection to finance "Crossroads" he made millions of dollars on solid body electrics. I

  • @john9944 How COULD u be so depraved that u would be even THINKING about auctions & Dollars & $ense ?! MORON! u & your mythical "ownership" of a guitar, ANY guitar! --- BY BEING GIVEN FREELY Something as Perfect & Deep as this live performance? My Deaf Friend: you got Willie Nelson & Paul Simon right there in front of you! National Treasures, singing one of the most important songs Simon ever wrote: and Your Ass is thinking of auctions & such? Retarded; Stupid; Depraved. ~ttt~

  • Wow----got some anger management issues don't you. Just to set the record straight. I was answering two comments that were taken off this site. Someone made a comment that the guitar was worth $500,000 and someone else said it was worth $20,000. I was merely responding. I have owned several music stores and have sold guitars to every one from Bob Marley, to Eliot Easton of the Cars, to John Entwhistle to Ted Nugent ande even have done work on Springsteen's Broadcaster/Telecaster hybrid.

  • (Part 2) I have known Willie personally for many years. One of my best friends the late Paul Buskirk, who owns publishing rights to "Family Bible" and "The Night Life" even though Willie wrote them, taught Willie how to play guitar and gave him "Trigger," his guitar. It has a Baldwin Piano pickup inside in case you want to know. Your idea that a guitar is somehow, sacrosanct is juvenile. I have owned guitars previously owned by David Logins, that he recorded "Please Come to Boston on.

  • @CharlesStorer Mr Storer: you win the "Win-15-Seconds-of-Fame-on-U-Tube" --- if all you can do is SELL guitars & you can't PLAY ONE OR WRITE SONGS --- why not Listen to some guys who CAN & forget trying to Impress Us All with Being a Celebrity Lackey, as you have so Perfectly Described Yourself. i.e u might consider Get A Life. But I forgot: You are DEAF. ~ttt~

  • @tomthumbtoo what a retarded rebuttal!

  • Generally I don't nitpick but if you're going to insult someone's intelligence, try to get your numerical conventions right. I'm pretty sure it's taught in grade school that a number can't have two decimals. Besides, you don't know how much it's worth until it's sold.

  • @bigdjindustriez

Bring taylor8492 on down to Nashville.

I'll tour him thru Gruhn Guitar. BTW, I picked up a 1954 0018G in alocal pawnshop a few years ago. Looks just like Willie's except for the wear and tear of all that pickin'.

  • Trigger's worth a lot more than a half mil. That's probably going to be the most valuable guitar in the world, some day, if not already. Willie said "When Trigger goes, I go." Not too many acts that play the same instrument after 40 years.

Especially one as memorable as Trigger.

  • What a great tribute to the late king of rock & roll: Elvis Presley...

  • Love this pair! Makes Me Happy!

  • simply brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I like Willie Nelson- He does a great job on this. But I don't suppose I'll ever see a posting of the original version with the Everlys doing harmonies with Simon.

  • sigh... i guess it's just a harmony you don't understand...

  • does anyone know if this performance has a cd of the whole show to go with it

  • What a brilliant performance! Chills on my back

  • HAHA I AM LOVING THIS!!

  • hearing Willie sing this gave me chills...

  • Comment removed

  • Does anybody have the clip of Kris Kristofferson singing "How do you feel about fooling around" with Willie from the same show?? That would be SWEET!!!!!

  • Think it must be realy hard to be a proud american these days, but this is one of the few things you guys can be proud of.
