I'm 65, retired, kids are grown and doing well, and I'm here, a little high, listening and watching Paul Simon and Willie Nelson sing. Damn life is good!
look at willies hands....poor baby................still crazy after all these years, but time is certainly cruel, to take willies hands is as bad as glen cambell getting alzhiemers.
All respect to Mr. Nelson but this version is far too country for my. Its lost a lot of its afropop and South African charm that it originally had. A creative re-imagining of the song none the less.
This has to be one of the best versions of Graceland that I've ever heard. These two sound so good together. There's a real energy between them, just watch them jamming together - no egos to stroke, just two epic musicians enjoying a moment of pure musical awesomeness. Love it.
This is a pairing I never would have guessed on ... yet to hear Willie and Paul do this and "Homeward Bound," is one of the more pleasant surprises I've had in a while. Indeed, two legends, two icons ... and two men who play wonderfully together!
This is great! I never realized how much of a country song this is. Willie's voice sounds great on this song...gives me chills. They are both legends and American icons!!
@Pimpmastahanhduece Actually, with the manner in which you phased that sentence, I wonder about your own ignorance and stupidity. Can you even figure what's so blatantly obtuse and incorrect about it? ;D
@Ghstwn I didn't know our spontaneous commments had to be approved by an English Professor... the song isn't dictionary and grammar perfect either, but it still touches all of us in the same place, so it's perfect, it fulfills a purpose!!!!
@Pimpmastahanhduece You might be able to acknowledge that it is a good song, technically speaking, but if it doesn't do it for you it doesn't do it for you. I like it, but if someone else doesn't they are not necessarily stupid or ignorant. I will call you pretentious.
@cartens33 *i said artist, not song. I also said "dont like", you meant "Dont care for." If that type of music or style is not what you like, it no longer has an applicable opinion. I meant specifically, "Some one who feels that this artist sucks." Why would i attack the indifferent people.their are 2 kinds of people, people who like Bob Dylan, and people who haven't yet really listened to Bob Dylan.
these are two legends! and just because people like the one more than the other and the other way around is why they can play together!! I love this song for no more reason that they perform this song together :)
My dad does Willie Nelson's pool on Maui and I sometimes go with him and I get to see Willie if he's there......my dad even smoked a joint with him once.....pretty awsome.
i dont think any other person other than willie could have done this song justice. having paul simon there with him just proves he would feel the same way. great song and vid. thanks for posting it.
for me, this performance boils down to the last eight bars: Obviously they had sung and played in beautifully, but without the perfectly planned harp, guitar run & fiddle, playing exactly where. in one measure, it suddenly ends. ~ttt~
I saw Willie with Dylan and he was amazing. As for Simon, I love this guy, this song, and this video. I love people that post their love of either the music or the video. I agree with 68kira. Keep the hate and your negative comments for you therapist.

According to Martin's website they made 100 WIllie Nelson Signature Trigger models in 1999. One can only wonder what they cost at that time and how difficult it would be to get one today. Doubtful that Mastercard's 'Priceless' would cover the cost .... This video really rocks, I watch it over and over. The best of many worlds!
"taylor8492", you're not too bright are you? That's a Martin N20 Classical, over 40 years old. Even in this condition, because of who owns it and it's iconic status, it's probably worth well over $500.000.00 US.
You...Are an idiot. That is a piece of country music history...$20,000? Is Willie an icon? All I can really do is shake my head at you and say: "Whuuuuut?"
That Martin IS county music...Distilled, rarefied, embodied, and personified...Yes he could easily get half a mil probably more for it. Some Japanese music freak with more money than brains would probably has his people write the check in an instant.
@taylor8492 I would love to get my hands on Willie guitar for $20,000. $500,000 may be a little high. But you never can tell at an auction. It would bring the same money as Gene Autry's D-45, "Blackie'" or Django Reinhart's Jazz Manouche. It is the instrument of a master and the value is more than intrinsic. When Clapton sold some of his collection to finance "Crossroads" he made millions of dollars on solid body electrics. I
@john9944 How COULD u be so depraved that u would be even THINKING about auctions & Dollars & $ense ?! MORON! u & your mythical "ownership" of a guitar, ANY guitar! --- BY BEING GIVEN FREELY Something as Perfect & Deep as this live performance? My Deaf Friend: you got Willie Nelson & Paul Simon right there in front of you! National Treasures, singing one of the most important songs Simon ever wrote: and Your Ass is thinking of auctions & such? Retarded; Stupid; Depraved. ~ttt~
Wow----got some anger management issues don't you. Just to set the record straight. I was answering two comments that were taken off this site. Someone made a comment that the guitar was worth $500,000 and someone else said it was worth $20,000. I was merely responding. I have owned several music stores and have sold guitars to every one from Bob Marley, to Eliot Easton of the Cars, to John Entwhistle to Ted Nugent ande even have done work on Springsteen's Broadcaster/Telecaster hybrid.
(Part 2) I have known Willie personally for many years. One of my best friends the late Paul Buskirk, who owns publishing rights to "Family Bible" and "The Night Life" even though Willie wrote them, taught Willie how to play guitar and gave him "Trigger," his guitar. It has a Baldwin Piano pickup inside in case you want to know. Your idea that a guitar is somehow, sacrosanct is juvenile. I have owned guitars previously owned by David Logins, that he recorded "Please Come to Boston on.
@CharlesStorer Mr Storer: you win the "Win-15-Seconds-of-Fame-on-U-Tube" --- if all you can do is SELL guitars & you can't PLAY ONE OR WRITE SONGS --- why not Listen to some guys who CAN & forget trying to Impress Us All with Being a Celebrity Lackey, as you have so Perfectly Described Yourself. i.e u might consider Get A Life. But I forgot: You are DEAF. ~ttt~
Generally I don't nitpick but if you're going to insult someone's intelligence, try to get your numerical conventions right. I'm pretty sure it's taught in grade school that a number can't have two decimals. Besides, you don't know how much it's worth until it's sold.
I'll tour him thru Gruhn Guitar. BTW, I picked up a 1954 0018G in alocal pawnshop a few years ago. Looks just like Willie's except for the wear and tear of all that pickin'.
Trigger's worth a lot more than a half mil. That's probably going to be the most valuable guitar in the world, some day, if not already. Willie said "When Trigger goes, I go." Not too many acts that play the same instrument after 40 years.
I like Willie Nelson- He does a great job on this. But I don't suppose I'll ever see a posting of the original version with the Everlys doing harmonies with Simon.
Does anybody have the clip of Kris Kristofferson singing "How do you feel about fooling around" with Willie from the same show?? That would be SWEET!!!!!
Classic as it gets

His signature? The signatures of basically every country artist in existance, as well as other artists are on there. Maybe you better look closer.

Bring taylor8492 on down to Nashville.

Especially one as memorable as Trigger.

I like Willie Nelson- He does a great job on this. But I don't suppose I'll ever see a posting of the original version with the Everlys doing harmonies with Simon.
