i fucken hate when people say play a real drumset or this game is stupid there just jealous cuz there not as good as us ............they dont get it we know this drumset is fake its jus a game so fuck off rock band haters
I agree with you guys....Playing drums on rock band is nothing like playing on a real kit..I don't care what anyone says....playing drums requires alot more than hitting a pad...LOL
Thanks for the feedback. No offense to you, but this video was made over a year and a half ago, when this was a fairly hard song. Again, no offense but if you actually looked at any of the details of the video you might not post such a stupid comment. Regardless, the video is not up to show how awesome I am at rock band, it was to show a working Roland v-drums set playing rock band on expert difficulty before it was common.
Playing this on a real set is extremely difficult. Neil Peart is one of the greatest drummers ever so not many people are going to be able to play anywhere near his level. Nice try although with that set you really can't get anywhere near the real performance anyway.
That's really a matter of opinion. I started out playing on the RB drums. When I finally got ahold of some real drums, I spent about a week adjusting, and now the RB drums drive me insane. I'm looking foward to getting some electronic drums to play with. It just feels more natural.
If you went from a RB set to a real set and can play Tom Sawyer accurately within a couple of weeks my hat goes off too you. It would be nice to see a video of your performance to back your claim. But even if you did pull that off I stand by my previous statement. Very few people could go from RB equipment to the real thing and play a difficult part like the one in Tom Sawyer.
I'll need to get a LOT more in the way of drums before that's possible. I'm stuck with a snare, base, three toms, the worst high hat I've ever seen, and a pathetic crash symbol. On top of this, I never claimed to be able to play Tom Sawyer. I don't really like the song anyway, but once I invest in a better kit, I'll see what I can do.
I CAN play Reptilia, though that's not saying much. I had that in a couple of weeks, though it doesn't sound because of my lack of equipment.
Thanks for your concern dad. I don't have near as much time to play as I would like. How do you spend your free time? Whittling pipes out of corn cobs?
Yeah this was after I had only had the kit for a few days. I've made a few adjustments since then and it's comfortable for me to play. I think I am a little tense when I have to play a fast hihat beat though, I am sure it's because I have no formal drum training. Thanks for the tips though, gotta work on staying loose.
I don't use them if I am playing for high scores because I will get random misses on the cymbals (I am no pro at hitting them). I'll sometimes use them when playing for fun with friends, or sometimes I'll play with headphones so I can hear what I'm actually playing.
I have a couple other vids (Shockwave and Crushx3) where I actually use the hihat/cymbals.
I watched this video after viewing dozens of rock band drummers, and I realized something; almost no one uses the kick pedal durin drum fills. they go crazy with the pedal for big rock endings, as I do, but just about everyone avoids it for the fills. I dunno, just an observation.
I dont know about everyone else but i avoid it most of the time because it usually dosent sound right in the fills. It's also lower volume wise and difficult to hear unlike a real bass pedal. That's just me though.
When I first started I NEVER used the bass during the fills except on the crash at the end. I use it much more often now that I am more comfortable with actually "playing" the drums outside of the game. If all you do is play Rock Band, you never learn where a bass note sounds good - while I wouldn't consider myself good at drumming now, I am miles ahead of where I would have been without Rock Band.
yes the rb2 bass drum is loads better i love it and i am glad that they have a freestyle mode for drums but the sounds on them could be vastly improved

I did teach myself and I think I've gotten much better in the last year and a half since this was made. I'm still not a real drummer by any means.

That looks uncomefortable to play. Is the kit set to the right height etc for you?
Your arms look really tense too, loosen up a bit.

The RB2 bass in the fills sounds great (as does the Tom 3). It hits pretty hard on the sub, I think you are right about the RB1 drum fill though.

on rb 1 all you had to do for a free mode was play the into to long time (synth intro) in practice mode. It kinda sucked, but was better than nothing
