  • Hi Guys! DO you any sites where I can have this downloaded?

    PLs Help!

  • Love love LOVE this version of the story..it follows the book so closely. Plus I am a little bit in love with Jason Flemyng. He was so amazing as Alec. (but he is amazing at any role he does).

  • Comment removed

  • I was so disappointed at the ending of this movie! I liked it up until the point that she killed Alec. That seemed so extreme to me. She could have just left him for Angel and they could have moved far away somewhere and lived happily ever after. Now I'm depressed from watching the film and I dont want to watch it again.

  • That angelic look at 30 seconds, what a heartbreaker.

  • so beautiful!

  • @mayflowersoapqueen Haha okay. ^-^ It's fine. ;D But boy.. i wanna watch the 1998 so bad. ;o

  • @hedz95 You definitely should! It's so good ;)

  • @mayflowersoapqueen Haha okay. :3

  • + @Asakura53

Leave @mayflowersoapqueen alone. It's not your responsibility to comment about her in a nasty way and she haven't done anything to you. She just made this video for everyone to enjoy watching it, not being cursed out. If you want to argue her more, feel free to do that to someone else.

  • 1998 is more better than 2008. :)

I haven't seen the 1998 yet but.. I don't know if the last one is like.. sentenced to death. :S 'cause in the end of the 2008 one is Tess got sentenced to death.

  • @hedz95 It is implied at the end of the 1998 one, and I haven't seen it in a while, but I think the last scene is her being led off by the police at Stonehenge. I couldn't take actually seeing her led to the gallows :(

  • beatiful video i love this movie so much the best adaptation so far

  • Thomas Hardy is a genius.

  • the girl who plays tess in this is really pretty

  • Love, peace, kindness. Very important in relationships, including internet communication between people. Debating is one thing, knocking each other down is something else.

  • funkybjorn you are absolutely correct. there are men and women who do not like to carry someone else's STDs or bastard children. they want to love their one and only husband or wife and that is how it should be. let these other pitiful sacks of shit whore themselves to dozens of people and then ask themselves why they're still so miserable.

  • @Asakura53 have you even seen this movie? You realize Angel had sex with another woman, don't you? But of course it's okay for him b/c he's a man. How pitiful and small.

  • this is beautiful.

  • I wish this was how the movie ended . So sad.

  • thank you soo much for this vid! LOVE IT!<3

  • I'm glad you ended it happily!

Gosh, Oliver Millburn is SOOOO cute

  • Thanks for introducing me to this beautiful song, loving this video!!!

  • Excellent video! This movie is the best adaption of Tess that has been made. Thanks for the montage of scenes. Love this film!

  • her waist is so small!!

  • he raped her because he had a scary mustache :S

  • Lol.

  • What a shit head - he raped her :-(

  • I agree this version looks very good. Enjoyed the other one that is on youtube but I can tell that this version (HINT: IF SOMEONE WOULD PLEASE UPLOAD IT) would be my favourite. If only I could watch it now.

  • very beautiful, thanks for sharing. Justine Waddell is an amazing actress..

  • It is a great video! Thank you!

  • I think the 1998 version is the best so far. They followed the book closely and the casting was good! The characters were just as I imagined them when I first read the book!

  • This story is the saddest story there is..

  • So is this movie not on youtube?

  • This version looks so good! The newest BBC version was pretty good, but this Angel is a bit more easy on the eyes.. haha.. but Ms. Waddell looks lovely as Tess. I didn't really like the Tess in the Polanski version. She seemed too wooden sometimes.. *shrug*

  • I know, isn't he so handsome~*

  • is any one gonna upload the movie. i really wanna watch it. the masterpiece classic version anyways

  • Why did Angel walk away in the first place :(

  • He was being totally lame, not being able to deal with the fact that Tess wasn't as pure as he wanted her to be in his ridiculous fantasy.

  • That "ridiculous fantasy" was want most English men, especially upperclass men, would have expected of their bride. Todays women would have been seen as sluts and whores by most respectable men from that time.

  • Well, I find it mainly ridiculous in the fact that he was being totally hypocritical. While Tess had been raped or at least seduced, Angel had willingly had an affair with an older woman. If anything, he was the whore of the two. It may have been the expectation of the time that the woman be pure, but Angel was supposedly a modern thinker, yet he was still stuck in the expectations of the past. It's unfortunate that Tess had to pay the ultimate price in trying to live up to a man's standard.

  • It is the expectation of over a billion muslim, hindu, christian, animist, and/or buddhist men in 2009 that their wives be virgins. There is nothing "in the past" about it. In your community it may be ok for women to be sluts, but it's not acceptable for many other cultures right now. If your female standards are so low, its good then that their are some men around to keep standards high. It's understandable that so many north american men are marrying foreign women.

  • I love how you use the word "sluts" like a woman who has had sex before marriage is a big whore or something. These billion or so men you speak of are a bunch of hypocrites b/c they think it's ok for them to have sex before marriage but not ok for a woman? In many of those countries women are still killed for doing things men do w/o punishment. So go ahead and marry a woman who is only coming to this country to escape oppression, only to find it in her own home by a man who wants a servant.

  • @Asakura53 You need to ask for forgiveness for your dark thoughts, blaming a girl who was raped by her own cousin. A skinbag of STD's... ha. It's more likely Angel was the one who picked something up from his older, more experienced lover, and would have passed it on to Tess. If Angel were anything like you, she was lucky to die than spend a life of misery under his oppressive thumb.

  • @Asakura53 Excuse me? I won't dare sink to your incredibly low, low levels, but how dare you call me a whore. You don't even know me! You go ahead and live by your double standards, your disgusting, dark thoughts about how women should be treated like garbage while men are put up on a pedestal for doing the exact same thing.

  • Love the movie and the song. Fabulous

  • the book is much better :D:Xbut i can't say that this is less better :)

  • This is a beautiful video. i do like the Masterpiece Classic version of the story better, i just preffer those actors, but i really realy like this video

  • can anyone upload movie please...

  • great video and choice of music, thanks also for the happy ending, Hardy's is so heart-wrenchingly tragic like Romeo and Juliet

  • wot song is this?

    still great this video.. x

  • this song is called blush by plumb

  • thankyouo!

  • I love Oliver Milburn!!!

  • Fantastic editing ^.^ I love the song it works really well for them :) I just finished making a Tess video myself :) I love the song you've chosen!! Keep up the fab work!

    Pygmypuff20

    xx

  • it should have ended this way

not the part who comes after this scene..

    boooehoeee..

  • it's very sad, iwept as i read the book, poor tess... a victim of circumstance.

  • I agree completely.

  • This girl is absolutely gorgeous.

  • The guy's not bad either...

  • agreed. what else is he on?

  • I love, love, loved this, we had to watch this movie in a class, and I was so into Tess and Angel's love story, until I saw the tragic end, I was so sad. But I love this rendition of it, I think it's the way it should end, so thank you. Angel is so romantic and incredibly handsome in this movie~*

  • I loved this!

  • love this song as a matter of fact i am buying it right now on iTunes great video too! way better ending

  • Thanks! -and glad you love the song:)

  • This is in my favorite versjon of Tess, I cried so hard for Tess. The new BBC versjon left me dry eyed, even though I overall enjoyed it.

  • anyone know were I can see this on line with out down loading to my comp the 1998 one I mean! I love this actress I think she amazing and very beautiful unicly beautiful I would say! so anyone know were I could watch grate excpectations on line with the same actress!?

  • I'm really obsessed with this story. I always had a weakness for brunettes,The BBC 2008 version is great and Gemma Arterton is very sexy as Tess !!

  • Really awesome vid! Perfect tribute of Tess. I have only seen the movie but I might read the book too b/c i loved it so much.

    *Spoilers*

Was it just me or did the part where Tess said "I killed him" kinda funny? I know the matter was serious (especially with the very end) but the way she just flat out said that was funny.

  • I always took that line as a sign that she had gone a little loopy. The pressures of getting the short end of the stick for so long finally got to her. Poor Tess. I still love her though.

  • I am for your "I have left him",the two go on

to live a life of happiness together. No murder at all! Or She found that she always did really loved Alec.Wow! I'm in love with the book and thanks to you the version 1998.But who can tell where I can find it? Or who can upload the entire movie?Who? ich habe eine Bitte.Besten Dank fur deise video!

    Yours,Heinrich

    Maybe you,please!

  • I've read the book but never seen this movie. Thank you for happy ending. In book this is so tragical. Nice job!

  • I can't stop watching this video!!!

thank you so much for uploading this!!

I also like the song, it's perfect by this video

  • Thanks! Glad you like the song--Plumb definitely has some really good ones!

  • So lovely ! I've never seen this movie nor read the book but I still want to although it apparantly has an unhappy ending :(

I'll just watch your video to make it all better ;)

    Thanks for sharing :)

  • You're welcome ;) The movie is still really good and worth watching, but the real ending made me so mad!

  • poor Tess, Alec is a rapist and Angel is a stupid coward, how unlucky!!.Great video, i love it.

  • God, if only it did end like this!

  • they picked a great tess

  • This is a great video and I'm really looking forward to the new one.

  • wow this clip thing is amazing, I've read the book but I didn't know there was this film

  • Yay! I love it! I love this movie so much. I'm trying to read the book but I'm just not a big Thomas Hardy fan-I only like Under the Greenwood Tree.

  • Yh.. I'm Trying To Read It To, But Like You Said.. I Rly Like Undr The Greenwood tree Aswell

  • great video:) what is the movie about?

  • its based on a thomas hardy novel, - Tess of the Durbevilles - about a young woman who gets pregnant with cousin - who's a baddie. Meanwhile her true love is in and out of her life. Set in Victorian England. This is a clip of the new BBC TV production that is up for release in Sept 2008

  • got that wrong - looks like this is an older version of film - but there is a new BBC tv drama due for release

  • Yeah, the 2008 one is going to star Gemma Arterton as Tess and Eddie Redmayne as Angel.

  • cahillgreg, you are correct. This is from the 1998 London Weekend Television/A&E two-part miniseries. I love this version but I am interested in seeing the BBC adaptation. Mayflowersoapqueen, this video is amazing. I never get tired of watching it!

  • Actually Their Not Cousins.. He Just preteneded...

  • This is really well done and the music is very good choice. Great job!

  • This looks really good. I've never seent his movie but I shall difintely be tracking it down thanks to this video. 5*

  • Omg I Just Cant Stop Watchin This Video!!

    xx

  • Heyy Me Agen..

Im so Glad Yhoo Made This Video. :D

Im Gonna Make A Tess Video Soon

  • Coolio--can't wait to see what you come up with ;)

  • dont expect aything amazing... it wint beat this!

    Rly Rly Gd Vid.. :D

  • How does this compare with Polanski's "Tess"?

  • They are very similar, but there are scenes in "Tess" that don't exist in this newer version. I prefer Justine as Tess, but Natasha does a really good job as well. Both are worth seeing.

  • Fantastic! You made a wonderful video. I only wish that the film/novel could have ended like this. I love Angel, but almost feel loyalty to Alec because, as he said, HE never gave up on her. It's so depressing. :( Have you listened to "If You Want Me" from the film Once? I think it perfectly matches Tess & Angel. Maybe if you make another Tess video you could use it?

  • I'd love to watch the movie or read the book but do you know where I can download it from?

    The clip is great.Good job!

  • this is a beautiful video. great work! i love the book and haven't seen this yet...and now im putting it on my mandatory viewing list. thx for posting!

  • i loove this video! do you know if this movie it's on youtube?

  • Thanks ;) No, the entire movie isn't on youtube. You probably have to buy or rent if you want.

  • Personally, I think Angels problem wasn't that he was too old fashioned, but that he was too new in his attitudes. He ditched wisdom and experience for novelty. Aiming for weird modern concepts which were really just the double standard again, dressed up as something else. He finally woke up to himself though. Too late of course.

  • Well stated, and I totally agree.

  • yeah - i've read the book too and angel (though cute sometimes) can be really cold to Tess. i mean, he loved hebut didn't comfort her when he found out what happened to her! what the?!

  • That was the times though...society believed if that happened to a girl it was somehow her fault.

  • Yup i had to read book, want to see movie, Hardy man had to make a point, lol. I never liked Angel though, to selfish.

  • To redcatgirl194ever (what a great name! ^_^):

Yes, "Hardy man had to make a point"...

that poor Tess was just a good girl in the wrong circumstances, not a "bad girl" or whatever. Not having read the *entire* book, I don't know if the movie maybe softened Angel a bit, but *in the movie* he was not all that selfish, just very idealistic and a bit jealous, and for a while couldn't quite grasp some of the basic differences between real life and ideal life.

(Putting Tess on a pedestal. Sigh.)

  • please ,please ,who performs and what's the title of this amazing song???

  • Blush (Only You) by Plumb

  • To mayflowersoapqueen: I just noticed how you

showed the sky on "I want to watch the sky

turn gray, then blue" (2:52-54). Nice. ^_^

    =^___^=

  • I do like the new ending, but I think I should mention that the original ending does have an important point to make...that in the end (when it was too late in some ways...sigh!) Angel loved Tess *no matter what*..even after she'd killed Alec, which would tend to be seen as something *worse* than just having had sex with him. (Also, as I see it, Angel was too innocent about some things and thought that Tess should be innocent too...because he wanted to think of her as being perfect.)
  • Anyway, it was about *more than just* rigid views held by any particular individual, it was *also* about both males *and* females being raised innocently and raised to think that girls should always be ladies and that kind of thing (Alec was not a true gentleman according to the standards of his time, since he did not treat Tess like a lady). (Oh, and, speaking of Alec, as far as I could tell she was either married or common-law married to him, not just his mistress.) (to be continued)
  • (Continuing) (finally...the stupid thing wouldn't *let* me continue, a few days ago!!! how mean/rude of it!!! ^_~) What I was going to say was, it might not necessarily be officially bigamy if she was married to Alec, since Angel would presumably be considered to have deserted/abandoned her, and it had been a while. I interpreted the "it's too late" scene to mean that she was married to Alec and that was why it was so hard to escape from him (without killing him and/or running away).
  • I admit to not having read the later parts of the book, as yet (sorry)...but in the 1998 TV version I *think* that the most logical interpretation is that Tess and Alec got married (that did seem to be what he was trying to make happen) (and also it seemed like it might be a condition of his supporting her family, or supporting them more than he already had). They might have only had a civil wedding and not a church wedding. (To be continued, again...*if* I'm allowed to continue! ^_~)
  • (Continued, again ^_^) Just before the "it's too late" scene, the maid said that Tess ("Teresa d'Urberville") (at least Angel had the sense to ask for her by that name and not "Tess Durbeyfield" ^_~) was "Mrs. d'Urberville"...and Tess had a wedding ring on (fairly prominently displayed) all during the "it's too late" scene. (It definitely looks like she and Alec were either actually married or claiming to be married [and claiming to be married is being common-law married].) ^_^
  • In this version, was she raped or was it mutual? The book makes it unclear

  • In the movie, it starts out consensual but turns into a rape.

  • I didn't define it exactly as starting out *really* consensual...also, it would be out of character for her to consent since she did *not* like Alec that way (not in the movie either, even if maybe it isn't always obvious). (Anyway...well, my interpretation in the movie was that she didn't *mean to* let him even kiss her, let alone do more than that... it looked like she *accidentally responded* at first rather than that she *wanted him to*. (Just another person's opinion. ^_^)
  • I would mostly agree. To me, in the movie, it seemed like she was okay with him kissing her at first, but she was also kind of out of it--once she realized what was going on, you could tell she was completely not into it, and then it went all bad.

  • To mayflowersoapqueen: I kind of had the impression, in the movie, that she was not *truly* okay with Alec kissing her *but* she was sort of curious *and* she was just too innocent to really understand how much harm it could lead to. (In the book [I've only read the early parts and that was a while ago, but I still remember some of it] it's even *more* obvious that Tess's mum told her practically *nothing* about men, and that Tess *really* didn't know what she was getting into. Sad.)
  • There can be kind of a temptation to just

sort of *see what it's like* to kiss someone

you know you don't love or like or really

want to kiss...also, and I think that this

was probably supposed to be part of the point,

there can be sudden physical arousal, and it

can be an accidental reaction which someone *could*

just respond to before she had time to think

about it (even, or maybe *especially* in some

cases, if she was good and young and innocent!).

  • Anyway, yes, at first she did kind of "let" him kiss her...but that doesn't necessarily have to mean that she truly *liked* it or *wanted* it...she *could* even have been thinking, just let him do what he wants and get it over with, or something like that (when she thought that he only wanted a kiss or two!). Tess didn't know at that time (if ever) how to stop a bad/dirty man before he goes too far. She shouldn't have let him give her the ride through the forest in the first place.
  • I really dislike Hardy. If you think Tess of the d'Urbervilles was F'd up you should read Hardy's Jude the Obscure. I appreciate the new happy ending :)

  • Beautiful.

  • i hated angel for leaving her...i agree that the ending was just too tragic thanks for the happier ending

  • That was cool...nice to have a happy ending....I would have Tess reject both Alec and Angel. She would take off to Brazil and shack up with some hot latin dude...LOL

  • This is really beautiful. I read the book and watched this movie and I thought that both were quite upsetting, too. I'm glad you've ended this vid in a much nicer way. :)

  • Wonderful! :-) Great job, just as haunting as the movie!

  • fab video. i just wandered if you noticed this but you seemed to put it in your video. but you've put in the red and pink things like roses and strawberrys and her red ribbons, which represents a sort of danger that surrounds her... i thought it may have been perpesful but i don't know.. well done tho!

  • Nope, it wasn't intentional, but it's a good point--red does seem to show up around Alec. I almost think of that strawberry as the forbidden fruit. Thanks for the comment ;)
