  • Is Adder Super Co power snakebite or sidewinder? On my GBA it say Sidewinder and on your video it said Snakebite. Kinda weird eh?

  • @AzNxPROdigyLIVE It is Sidewinder in the US releases of the game, Snakebite in the European releases of the game.

  • @XenesisXenon Such a fun game, I wish they would have made more. I was never a very good player though.

  • im confused, i never played this game, it looked like a bit like fire emblem but then you controlled both sides...did i see that?

  • @Sephirothblaze It's made by the same people as Fire Emblem - but instead of being an SRPG, Advance wars is a turn based strategy game. It's pretty multiplayer friendly, but yes for these videos I was playing both sides.

It also has a single player campaign as well as a (large) selection of challenge maps against AI opponents.

  • how did you hack it so you could use missles against ground units?

  • @severussnape222

Basically, I just gave them a damage value against them. The way it works is that if the base damage is equal to 0%, you can't shoot at them. If it is 1-254%, then you can fire. This is why the lowest damage you can do is 1%.

  • @XenesisXenon 254%? So if you do more than that, it wraps back around, or...? (The only way I know of to do that is with Colin's SCOP, which I heard has a bug in which if raised too high, his attacks wills sometimes do absolutely no damage.) Also, why do some attacks say they do 0% if they don't?

  • @leafbarrett Nah, that's just base damage. The game itself supports damage up to lots. As for the 0%, that's a case of where the base damage is low (like 1%) but the target has a lot of defence - the damage is truncated to 0%. Base damage =/= final damage :)

  • Adder's power is kinda like Sami's, but only better.

  • haha wdf :D

  • Actually, I could play it on the actual hardware if I wanted.

  • Adders SCOP Grants him 2 extra movement spaces with ALL units and an extra 10% to his defense.

Quite frankly, his SCOP is underrated in my opinion as nearly every experienced AW player will check the range on you units movement and move just one space out to avoid first strikes. But since Adders COP builds so fast, he can strike first easily 90% of the time if played right.

I personally don't like his character model, so I choose not to use him much XD

  • Mechs on mountains. Little more needs to be said.

  • uhh does anyone else notice that colin's infantry cost 900 when they should cost 800?

  • Was one of the many changes I made.

  • cool...

  • Not only the mechs, Colin gets only 90% costs in this hack instead of 80%.

  • i noticed that after i posted my comment :D

  • O i love adder!!! *Not realy but yust his acting XD*

  • how can he shoot some ground unit with an anti-air?

  • Anti air units can attack both units, trust me. :)

  • same question here

  • What have you done with the recons?!

  • Did anyone notice on Wikipedia on one of the screenshots that showed Adder and the word 'Snakebite'

  • Yeah, that's the European Version of the game's name for Adder's SCOP.

  • No, something better would be him not having to cost for any terrain effects, his recon units could move so far and stuff. And infantry, that would be a good add-on. You should try that and show us!

  • That's actually a fairly trivial hack to do, but it wasn't done mainly because it steals Lash's thunder completely.

  • OH yeah...but she really shouldn't have that, she gets enough form her raised attack poeer, basically. OMFG! Today I played Nell, and she used her CO Super Power and she had like her recon wipe out my artillery completely. it sucked.

  • Adder is my favorite CO to use. I'm all about speed. Although, if he got like a sight bonus, or, maybe like a 10% damage increase it would be better. Still he's definately my favorite, and in any map I always give the player who is Adder, a slight advantage by making more properties within reach or something.

  • Adder!?!

Come one, now 'Kanbei', there is an awesome CO!!!

I just got done on 'Pre-Deployed/BATTLE CUBE'

Kanbei is un rivaled!!! I win, usually with only 1 lost foot-infintry-thingy!

  • Pre Deployed you gotta use him or some guy with bonus attack power, like Sturm, or Hawke..or Kanbei. Lol. I still like Adder, though.

  • Hawke, he is pretty good, but something about him, doesnt catch my interest, MAX, now thats a cool cat! Im all about TANKS!!!

  • If I like anyone other than Adder, it's gotta be Lash.

  • Wait, i forgot my new FAV.

    Colin!

Especially on a big stage, cus just let your money build up(GOLD RUSH) and BOOM!!!

His ratio becomes 999%(Power of Money, once u got aALOT of money)

    damage(effective/watever :P)

He kicks ass, though face to face with vilians, he is weak!

  • That reminds me, like my favorite level in the entire game is Reclamation. Lol. I love that level.

  • lol, Kanbei actually kinda sucks in normal battles, cause his units are so expensive

He kicks ass in pre-deployed simply because he has the strongest units in the game

  • Oh, you did NOT just say that! He is nearly broken, given how powerful he is!

He gets 130% attack, which is enough for tanks to one-hit-kill infantry on the road (clearing the path for deeper attacks), and essentially gets +3 stars of defense all the time, but which don't diminish with HP loss.

His units are rock-hard in defense, and razor sharp when attacking. All this for just a measly 20% extra in cost.

If you want a truly broken CO though, then Grit is your man.

  • what grit can pwn kanbei @ss anytime

  • Yes. Grit can pwn anybody. ANYBODY.

Artillery is one of the most cost-effective sources of damage in the game. You get the attack power of a Medium Tank for less than the cost of a regular tank.

However, RANGE is what really matters with artillery. Rockets cost 2.5x Artillery not because they outrange them.

Grit has the ability to out-range ANY indirect unit. Artillery gives you your "Zone of Control", and Grit can threaten, destroy and push-back anybody else's artillery.

    And so he wins.

  • edit: Rockets cost 2.5x Artillery not because they outgun them, but because they outrange them.

(accidentally deleted a segment of text)

  • then why did you say he was a broken CO? -.-

  • Oh, sorry for confusion in terminology.

As I (and most people I know who play AW) use it, "broken" means so overpowered as to make the game unbalanced. Grit becomes un-usable, since if one person plays as Grit, then everybody has to, or suffer a big disadvantage.

That's what "Broken" means. Grit, Kanbei, Hachi and Colin are considered broken. When you have a grouping as big as that though, then it's more like they're all in a completely different League. Kanbei vs. Colin is very interesting.

  • o ok. yeah you right that there is alot of COs that way over powered and that the downside of there power is not great enought to make it balenced

  • How to counter them

Grit: Yes very useful, but less effective in maps more open/dependent on air. Try attacking from multiple sides.

Colin: Damage penalty may not be big, but it's enough that he does poorly when small difference is critical. He has more trouble against strong units.

Kanbei: Has less units, so exploit that. For example, infantry costs more but captures the same.

Hachi: 100% overpowered :( should be banned is what I'd say.

I think Sturm/Nell are more powerful than most of above.

  • lol i love Grit.. pretty damn good. even if you attack from multiple sides, if he ammasses a defence of artillery, rockets and missiles with a couple of APCs he's pretty much unbeatable even if open maps. depends though

and Hachi is just powerful lol. no way you can counter a guy with Colin's spending power or even better when CO/SCO power used with a normal attack power.

  • Actually, Colin's units are still more cost-effective then Hachi's, believe it or not. Sure, he gets Merchant Union, but that's not going to help when the units he builds are one-shotted by Power of Money.

  • well he dose get a huge power boost though, which makes his units extremely supior evento strum and hawkes.

  • flak has the potential to be good though, sometimes when i use him, i get the huge attack bonus like 80% of the attacks. adder on the other hand, doesn't even get a sight bonus or any kind of attack bonus during his special, just a +2 move...meaning he can get ambushed or rush to his demise faster which is good if u are giving up i guess.

  • +1 Movement regularly for the COP is far more valuable than Flak can be with his CO Powers for the most part, as much as it pains me to say as Flak is my favourite CO to use in AW2.

  • i guess it's just opinion and the situation that depends for each CO. but i guess we can, for the most part both agree that flak and adder are both pretty bad CO's compared to others.

i hardley ever use adder except when messing around with my friend. otherwise, i'll use my fav. CO, kanbei or drake :D.

  • adder is prolly the worst CO in the game compared to any other CO. sure his special makes him move farther...and thats it, with the auto +5 or 10% attack bonus. might as well play koal anyways, i dare anyone to try and defend adder with w/e.

  • Adder's not fantastic, but to say that he's the worst CO in the game isn't doing him any justice. Flak is the worst CO in AW2, no questions asked.

Koal and Adder are about equal in AWDS, the faster COP is about as useful as Koal's road bonus.

  • Which leads us to another question: who's worse, Flak or Jugger? (P.S. I owned a friend of mine in a FoW match by using Flak against Sonja on AWDS, that was priceless!)

  • Flak is the better CO, but the difference is basically marginal.

  • Snakebite? reminds me of solid snake. XD

  • Yeah, me too xD

  • XDDD "3204" money. So does his unit cost go down over time or what?

  • His first ability gives him more money and his second makes his units cheaper.

  • Good job there, misles shooting at ground units, however there was one more, Snake bite isnt his super co ability...howd ya change that

  • nope, snakebite is his SCOP, in the uk anyway. It's called sidewinder in america, right?

  • sidewinder is the europe versions SCOP.

  • No it isn't! I own the europe version, it's definately snakebite. Check it on google!

  • No it isn't! I own the europe version, it's definately snakebite. Check it on google!

  • Only in Europe, not in the USA.

  • oh, i thought it was a joke. -_-

    apparently it wasn't.

  • Yeah. His name is also Snake in the Europe version, isn't it?

  • nah his name is still adder

  • what was the hack? do you have an inf money Hack?

  • i saw the hack..at first i was watching, then when wtf when i saw the anti air missles shoot at ground targets

  • whyd you give me a minus one!? I coulndt see it cause there was no battle sequence!!

  • lol.i didnt give you one

  • stupid you can take the animation sequence off.

  • again...way cool...plz at least give me one hack of yours

  • I smell EU AW2. <3

Actually, since I recently started playing AW2, I gotta get this patch. Though not crushing everything as Grit will be boring. D:

  • when is this hack out? Cuz Your work is quite nice.

  • It's actually out. If you check out my website @ forums.warsworldnews, and go to the Syogun Change forum it's one of the sticky topics.

I never actually ended up making a release vid, because yeah. I went interstate for a week and a half the day after I finished it.

  • Ah...k, I'm browsin' for it

  • lol, i have that xml and drdhack thing you posted on there. it's very usefull, but needs the updates of individual units. XD

  • Yeah, it's rather outdated. I don't think I've touched it since 2005. :P

  • How you ulock colin and y not show battle scene?

  • 1) gamefaqs

    2) Because they take too damn long.

  • how do you get adder?

  • Complete the campaign and then purchase him from Hachi's Shop.

  • adders co power isnt that good, all it does is make his units move a few more spaces, thats y he gets his co power so quick

  • yeah, but think of the strategies you could use him for: his infantries litterally fly through enemy lines during his powers, so that you can make hq capturing easier. Adder's powers work much better in chokepoints, so that his units cna travel them faster.

  • I like Snakebite better. His name is 'Adder' which is a type of Snake, and then you factor in his appearance and the fact he says "This will only hurt for a moment."

  • Well Snakebite makes more sense since he his "Adder".

  • its called snakebite where im from sidewinder sounds better.

  • I personally liked Snakebite better, despite having Sidewinder in my copy of the game as well.

  • how to do this hack?

  • Sankebite dude is owning like hell.

  • not that i dont upload advance wars any more because it comes upside down for a reson u should use ur big head

  • see my vid about advance wars my hacks r better

  • Oh please. Play as Black Hole? That's been done for years. :P

  • Yes, Adder's SCOP is called Snakebite in some regions, you would know it as being Sidewinder, correct?

  • snakebite??????

  • aDDER is a punk

  • what did you hack, and to do what?

  • There's a huge list of changes. You can check it out at my website in my profile. I released it before I went on Holidays, but I forgot to announce anything here.

  • thats not right. those missiles can't attack ground units. only air units

  • that's why it is a hack

  • Yeah, this hack is using to balance out the game, for Custom Wars. Missles are incredibly situational, due to the fact that they're expensive and pretty useless. So Xen here hacked it so they attack like a weaker version of the rocket.

  • Snakebit ftw
