It was the prerecorded messages that reminded her of Caroline, and "she learned that testing dangerous equipment was for the good of the people" is pure BS, she never learned that. And she doesn't let you leave because you would kill her, she let you leave because Caroline couldn't bare to keep Chell there knowing all she did. GLaDOS was still the same, she just found a none attached personality core in her.
