@januarygreene I was taught the same version as you. I like both versions though. I dont really care it all means the same thing. It all gets to the point when Christ comes back, like the song says "We'll meet Him in the air"

I love this song but have only one problem with this version..... I grew up with it being "the dead in Christ shall rise" not the bride of christ. especially since he never took a bride.

@januarygreene Jesus is indeed betrothed...his bride is the Church. 2 Cor 11:2 "I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him" 2 Corinthians is addressed to the Church of God so it is understood that the you is the church. Therefore when Gabriel toots and we all scoot...the bride will rise to be wed to her Groom. not being ms. know it all...i'm just saying. : )
