By this I know I am still a very low level intermediate player: But appreciate very much hearing the statement of the chorale, of which I got a free copy from "Les Éditions Outremontaises" adapted by P. Gouin. And thanks for the understanding that these three pieces are Franck's "prayers" to The Holy Trinity. Since a revelation of that brought about my conversion from an atheist for 35 years, I shall aim to learn these: some day!
The three Chorales are incredible, of course, but I think Franck's masterpiece is his Grande Piece Symphonique, with the summit of his achievement being his concluding fugue. This is not, however, a view that is commonly stated. What do Franckophiles think?
Marie-Claire's typically great performance. I doubt she's able to make a mistake. If only Jehan also had lived! It's sad the divine, sublime Chorale #2 in b minor seems ignored by most, probably because not as "flashy" as #s 1 & 3. I pray you might kindly try uploading all 3 of these majestic reflections of and on The Holy Trinity, even if Marie-Claire herself may not have recorded all of them (?), for this trio is so central a part of the organ repertoire, greater than any single organist!
@russedav5 Marie-Claire did record all three chorales and the rest of the twelve pieces - at least twice. I think the second chorale is perhaps not played as often by organists because it is more difficult. She played Franck from memory when she was in Sydney (on the organ of the Sydney Opera House).
@russedav5 She did record them all, plus all his other works, and more than once. I also heard her play all three, together or apart, in many recitals.
