  • Listen people therE are NO martial art that guarantees you can take on many attackers. But reading the comments about multiple attackers what you need to UNDERSTAND is you have a better chance fighting multiple attackers ON YOUR FEET and NOT ON LYING ON THE FLOOR. In BJJ fights DO NOT Go to the floor, In BJ fights ARE TAKEN TO THE FLOOR. WAAAKE UUUP!

  • You are a lying Gracie shit...Gracie Jiu jitsu is good only with ONE Vs ONE.

Would you go to the floor with 2 attackers or more. Tell the people the truth that your art is very weak against streetfights with multiple opponents. I will give it to you guys ..it shaw hells works on the floor against ONE PERSON.

  • Multiple attackers i suggest learning Geta Fu Outa-Dere. really effective

  • press three repeatedly for some porn

  • okay i read through the comments and i kinda got upset. Stop bashing martail arts

you can apply any martail art in a street fight if YOU do it properly not if the martail art is strictly for it

  • @artpwnify No..you can't.

  • @gungfu777 in a street fight anything can happen so never expect anything from anybody

  • Fighting multiple attackers is a mugs game.

And most people talking here know fuck all about what they are talking about.

Comments should be disabled, there's too much bullshit flying around.

  • @JUKEBOXX1990 I agree, but it doesn't hurt to know an art that is EXTREMELY effective for one-on-one encounters. You should just supplement with other arts, such as Thai Boxing for striking, Kali/escrima for weapons, etc. That's why Bruce Lee understood...no ONE martial art has all the answers.

I think Gracie BJJ is especially a good idea for kids and bully protection. Schoolyard fights are often one-on-one encounters. Choke out the big, bad bully, and no other kids will mess with you. lol

  • how does gracie jujitsu fair against 3 guys..the way i see it is the gjj guy takes 1 down starts to choke him and then the other 2 guys stomp his face in..gjj is best for mma or competition not for self defense on the streets

  • @JUKEBOXX1990 this is the story of everyones life. what art takes on more than one person, and really can in the street? what one has been proven, by competition or whatever, to do this? please dont say wing chun.....

  • @thalildude1 im not talking about other arts..im talking about gjj..what can gjj do agaisnt 3 guys and dont say sub all 3 in 1 amazing gjj move that no one has ever seen..

  • fuck that if multiple attackers are attacking me best believe im gunna get a bat and have a homerun derby with some heads

  • Coming from a kungu and Karate back ground its utter nonsense when I hear people say bjj don't work with multi attackers. 5 guys are not gonna be standing around waiting to get hit like in a bruce lee movie. They all gonna rush you at the same time. From experience if you break the 1st guys arm they will all freak out and not want to get close 2 u.

  • @gungfu777 I don't believe you actually come from a Kung Fu background if you believe there is no way to defend against multiple attackers.Sorry, but I believe you are a LIAR.

  • I'm a brown belt in judo a blue belt in Gracie jiu jitsu. I've trained in wing chun fung fu and Kempo Karate for 5 years. Having been in a lot of street fights Bjj and judo helped me the most. Bjj teaches you how to deal with real life situations. Nobody gonna attack you with a praying pantis punch or tiger vs cane kick. Its always wild punches followed by falling to the ground. Lol

  • @gungfu777 Having been in a "lot of street fights" is not a badge of honor. You're doing something wrong in your life for that to keep happening. lol Renner Gracie has said himself that he's never been in a street fight. You carry yourself in a different manner than a mark when you know what you are capable of.

  • I wish this gym was closer! :(

  • why does this guy talk like he is retarded?awful accent

  • my bf always puts me in a freakn arm-bar (-.-) i hate it!

  • i combined bjj with a handgun, so i can put you in triangle then shoot the attacker

  • @kjenkins9 Those comments are joke you retard lmfao! Funny guy

  • can you guys film that from a little farther away..its too close

  • you guys are fucking stupid just because you do some gay ass art you think you can fight PAKOUR does not do shit RUN FU does not do shit ive been doing matial arts for years you guys dont know what your talking about until youve actually tried it and have mastered it so please stfu for multiple attackers there is no specific art they are all made for SIGNLE person combat

  • @kjenkins9 where did u get ur information idiot... so many styles have a HUGE focus on multiple attackers... e.g kung fu has the 9 pillars... look at u all dramatic and ur wrong, must suck to be u shit cunt

  • @kjenkins9 They are making the joke that the only thing you can do against multiple attackers is to run.

  • @kjenkins9 God you're fucking intelligent...

  • very useful..

  • wheres this academy located anyone know?

  • @pimpmstr89 Torrance Ca

  • @mikejeronimo thank you.

  • Hey GracieAcademy! How long is the trainning? A month?

  • TKD better

  • @ellisact .....no

  • @ellisact no, i trained TKD for 6 months, i've only taught myself basic jiu-jitsu along with the grappling i've learned from my wrestling team... a tkd kick can be dodged or v-slipped, then the leg can be grabbed, used to pull the one kicking off balance and then kept for use in a heel hook, ankle lock, knee bar, calf slicer, or other submission using the leg... srry bro xP

  • good class thanks i like it

  • GRACIE BEST ART

  • Envy is wrong but I am really envious of how large that mat area is. That is so awesome how spacious the grappling area is at the Gracie Academy. Gives way to so many options.

  • not very advanced is it. who are these guys?

  • @pacificnfresh really?

  • @heidtmanmail shown was just basics techniques

  • i truly believe the best combo is what i decided to train in is ...Krav Maga and GJJ they compliment each other very well....

  • strongest gracie get outofhere fag

  • @newerest1 @PanKrato Though I can agree with you,if you've perfected the takedowns there are in GJJ,or even something as simple as knowing when to take someone down is key. Though I took 3yrs of kick-boxing along with already having my purple belt in GJJ just in case.

  • I have absolutely no problems with the gracie combatives ground grappling program. (even the online belting) the only problem i have is the the takedowns. they need to be very important. those kids would not be able to trip someone who was resisting, that's just how it is. getting the fight to the ground is just as important as controlling them. the last thing you would want is to try and trip someone and they trip you, now you're on your back...(I say this bc it's happened to me in fights b4)

  • @newerest1

I agree, everything about GJJ is great, except the stand up.

There are some good standup techniques (double leg, etc.) but not enough.

It's not that the standup is terrible, it's just not at the same level as everything else so it's very annoying for me.

  • @PanKrato Train in boxing or kickboxing as well.

  • @PanKrato @xAnastasia1990x Yes, it just needs to be worked on more. Like honestly , bjj should be half takedowns half ground work. At my academy takedowns are like, what, 10 % Lol if that? I just don't like how the bjj guys let the wrestlers keep having control of where the fight goes.

  • @newerest1 i agree i have combined judo GJJ and wrestling and i have worked on lots of takedowns and they help alot

  • @newerest1 my friend and i were sparring, he has no ground skills so he was sticking to striking, i caught his round house and use a basic... i dont remember if it was judo, savate, or karate but some basic trip, didnt even put much force into it and i got him down, with full force you can easily trip someone if you understand the mechanics of it... yay physics! xD

  • You have done studies????? Come on! Who the hell do you think you are talking to retard?

  • Best martial art for mutiple attackers..... pakour

  • @Chaney547 Haduken.

  • @Chaney547 no way pakour is to move around urban environments not to fight :P

  • bunch of pussies

  • @tamegomait You say that, but you would NEVER say that to one of their faces

  • I think I'll take SCJJ over bjj. bjj is better suited for the ring rather than self-defense. I know all the MMA and cage match fans are drinking the cool aid and worshiping at the alter of bjj.

  • @MrOphachew@MrOphachew

BJJ is not the ultimate art. It has its own problems. But why is SCJJ better for self-defense, because leon and wally said so?

    Where is the objective proof?

Why is it that there has not been a single successful wrist-lock/throw in MMA? (and they were perfectly legal in early MMA)

Beating up over-compliant uke does not translate to reality. It does'nt even work against a SINGLE uncooperative opponent. Don't bother talking about the street.

    Enjoy the cool aid!

  • @mild7p--One MMA ain't reality "the street". Two I'll take SCJJ over bjj any day. stop drinking the cool aid.

  • @MrOphachew

Who said MMA is "the street"? It is'nt. But it sure is a hell lot better than beating up on a cooperative opponent. Wow... you've done a finger lock on someone who let you do it.... that's "street-certified" brah!

You can take your SCJJ over BJJ. The more jokers out there, the better for me. There are also ppl who are also convinced about the effectiveness of Tae-bo.

Leon Jay sure serves up some good, "street-branded" cool aid!

  • @mild7p --dud... get over it. gracie bjj is all hype. All they did was rip off and cash in on something called Kosen Judo and you know it.

  • @MrOphachew

Kosen Judo rules. There is nothing to "get over" as I never bought Rorion's revisionist history.

I will make it simple for you. You say BJJ is only good for the ring, and not for the street. To a certain degree, I agree!

The irony is that your highly touted SCJJ does'nt work in either the ring or the street. It is about as effective as Tae-bo and uses the same training method. As I have said, I have seen plenty of people using Judo, wrestling successfully. Never a trad JJ guy.

  • @mild7p --sooooo....what do you think about FMA? also you don't have to read or listen to rory. Just type in Kosen Judo here on youtube or wikipedia.

  • @MrOphachew

While you were googling up the theory of various MA and becoming an expert internet warrior... I was already a judoka. I am more than familiar with Kashiwazaki and had similar tokui waza. I do not need to "youtube" Kosen Judo to find out a "little bit" about it. That's for you to do.

What do I think about FMA? Well, I think 90% of MA is BS. Better yet, why don't you ask the Dog bros about their experience with the Machados? Or Vunak on what he thinks of unarmed vs armed?

  • @mild7p --Oh......Kay.....what do you think about Pentjak Silat?

  • @mild7p ---Alight and what do you think about Pentjak Silat?

  • @MrOphachew

What do I think of Pentjak Silat? Honestly? Let's put it this way. Silat is one of those things which gets laughed at by non-Malay communities in South East Asia. But in the west, it is marketed as an exotic and deadly art.

At the end of the day, it is a system which chambers punches from the hip. Sparring in sport Silat is essentially WTF TKD rules with takedowns and silly patterns done in between. It's better than nothing... but if you thought Gracie JJ was cool aid...

  • @mild7p --actually the cool aid comment was a reference to the cult leader that convinced all those poor people to drink the cyanide mixed cool aid 30 years ago. I think 90% of what you have to say is complete and total bs and the other 10% repugnant. I'm still waiting for any of you bjj/judo people to go to Malayasia or the Philippines and challenge and beat silat or fma. Oh, and Dog brothers and Paul Vunak, bjj ain't got nothing on Sayoc, Innosanto, Cabales, Giron etc.

  • @MrOphachew

LOL. I know your type... the unathletic dweeb who is afraid of full-contact training, more content to look for "exotic deadly street" arts than to actually get your ego bled out in the ring.

I knew this from the moment you started to sell BS about small circle JJ. You only look clever to those who don't know better.

Pls don't equate your wiki-read knowledge of MA with expertise on what works on the street. I would sooner take advice from Ashida Kim.

  • @mild7p-"ashida Kim" is an even bigger joke than you and bjj(and I'll take Stephan K. Hayes over ashida kim, ron duncan and especially Frank Dux who is as big a joke as the gracies) What I ment was if I had a choice between SCJJ and bjj I'd take SCjj. Also, fma has already been proven time and time again, it was forged in life and death combat 'not by sweating it out on the mat.' Also, I'm sure if I payed the gracies enough money they've toss me a black belt and a certificate in a heart beat.

  • @MrOphachew

Oh, so now the Gracies are a big joke like Frank Dux. Now I've heard it all. And where are your videos of you doing anything? Are you sure, that it is not you, who is the joke here? -chuckle-

"life and death combat!" LOL. Who are you trying to kid, like I believe an SCJJ guy could even fight his way out of a paper bag. Btw, the Kun Tao Bagua video on your profile is hilarious. There's a bridge somewhere I'd like to sell you, after you're done with your cool aid...

  • @mild7p --yeah that's right, both are jokes. I'll post one after you. Oh, never mind it probably wouldn't really be you anyway. Who are you tryin to kid? What SCJJ, silat, fma experts have you or the gracies challenged or defeated? You can take that up with the Grandmaster in the clip. --rolling on the floor hysterically over mild7p's statements.

  • @MrOphachew Shut the fuck up you goddamn troll! It's keyboard warriors like you that give martial artists a bad name.

  • @gumbyjits --How so?

  • @MrOphachew hmm i happen to knwo that at Innosantos jeet kune do school bjj plays a big role. google there school if youd like.

  • @pedro90 --I think I'll pass on that. Since I know it's simply because its a money making thing because bjj is popular right now.

  • @MrOphachew no its an effectiveness issue. Dan insosanto has the rep as one of Bruce's best and last pupil. he needs not to use a bunch of money making sceems to get students. his name will attract many alone. they teach BJJ because its effective and the entire concept of JKD is to absorb what is useful and disregard whats useless. they also focus on simple fluid styles that arent based on rigid tradidtion. the teach BJJ, boxing, kali, escrima, and i believe some thai, and wrestling.

  • @pedro90--Actually no, despite Dan's name which only carry's weight with people in the know. If you got bills to pay and know ones interested in learning JKD, Judo, Wing Chun, boxing, wrestling, traditional MA etc. But you have numerous prospective students coming in wanting to learn something specific like bjj you go learn and get yourself certified in bjj and start teaching it.

  • @MrOphachew now your just splitting hairs. do you honestly think that wrestling judo, boxing, wing chun, and kali would ALL just take a nose dive. everyone into MMA knows its all about training in all ranges of combat. as well as many many people know who dan Insonato is. same as the gracies. enough to make a functioning school off them alone. as one of his last pupils, how much would it be a slap in the face to Lee's memory too not keep evolving the style with whats effective and new.

  • @pedro90--Well since in Dan's own admission that JKD isn't a style, I fail to see what you're getting at. Also, I assure you I pull 5 or even 50 people in off the street right now that wouldn't have a clue who Inosanto is. Thanks to the MA Magazines and existing Judo schools and Steven Seagal and his movies thats the only reason MA i still around.

  • @MrOphachew and your assuming these five guys even want study martial arts to begin with? a better statistic would be random people who enjoy martial arts or intend to train. JKD is more of way then style true. however there are still going to be some techniques and martial arts that come with it. its the same if i said i do MMA. you expect for me to study, some muay thai or boxing, as well as takedowns and ground fighting.

  • @pedro90 --Well put. The only people that know Dan are the one's that at least read the Mags and only those interested in MA would read them. JKD by your own admission is not a style.

  • @MrOphachew and as for martial arts still being here cus of media purposes. that argument makes no sence. you could just as argue boxing wouldnt be here if it wornt for rocky movies. or skateboarding if it werent for the x games. even bear drinking and drug use if it wernt for movies like how high or beer fest. the media is a large part of everyones life no matter the activity.

  • @pedro90 --yup thanks to Rocky movies boxing became more popular than ever before.

  • @MrOphachew the original jeet kune do or jun phan kung-fu as it was once calld was a mixture of boxing, wing chun, greco wrestling judo, and some karate kicks. as time progresses and other techniques are found to be less effective then others. such as wing chun, or replacing your karate moves with thai moves, or bjj with judo + the integration millitary tactics. thus it constantly evolves. to get better. dont discriminate cus something is popular. aborsb what works. this is jeet kune do.

  • Gracie Barra ftw! fuck the rest and fuck haters! They don't know what we do in that gym, I'd like to see blood sweat and tears on their channel to see who's better. UFC involves jiu jitsu. Technique and speed can help you in a street fight. I'm in jiu jitsu and maui thai. I love it (:

  • way to go rener.! i really appreciate this. mabuhay!

  • ok seriously, to all the guys talking sh*t about BJJ, your a bunch of idiots, yeah against multiple attackers it would be useless after the first guy but thats why you study and train in mul;tiple MA's T_T Kickboxing, Krav Maga, and BJJ would at least be the three most important but any striking MA would be an ok replacement for Kickboxing, but for street fights, Krav and BJJ arethe greatest tools you will ever have for fights of all kinds

  • gracie jiu jitsu is weak in a real fight you obviously would be fighting against 2 or 3 people if you where to end up on the ground you would definately get beaten look at the renzo gracie vs matt hughes fight muay tai kick boxing and karate would devestate gracie bjj i would rather train mma kick knees elbows bjj can't defend that even royce gracie is training in mma karate now.

  • i dnt think rener should start acting. the only reason why i think tht is because im afraid if he starts acting like bruce lee did, somethin will happen because there are a lot of people who are like jealous and stuff and i think it would be exactly the same

  • For all you arguing about weather or not you'll get bit or if it will even go to the ground read the video name. It is a reflex development drill. That means you practice this type of situation so that if it does happen similarly to this you'll be able to counter and recounter. its like learning a combo in boxing and seeing an opening in a fight and using that combo.

  • Wow, Renner is a good speaker in front of the camera. Maybe he should try acting.

  • very nice.

  • im naming my son omoplata

  • i lol'd for real haha

  • @ohitsubob I'm gonna name my girl Kimura.

  • @ohitsubob im gonna call your son oompa loompa

  • I once used GJJ in a streetfight - finished takedown and armbar, but got bitten in the ass by a drunk punk. Also doing an armbar in the middle of a road at night is not a bright idea - I was almost hit by a taxi. But it worked yeah, in general :)

  • @tanellaan haha

  • I love Judo !!!!

  • Yes,GJJ is very street effective, but what if a Giant flaming dragon with needles full of aids and Meth came down! from hell and he called satan and they all brought guns and knives? lets see you oma plata your way out of that, jesus why doesnt everyone seeing striking could totally beat 12 people at once, but cant take 1 BJJ guy, simple logic guyzz

  • Never put you leg over the mouth of opponent if you have to go for an arm-bar unless you want to be bitten. Without rules, many moves are not going to work easily.

  • in a street fight. the opponents arm would get broken before he would even have time to think about biting... i'm not gonna sit there and wait for him to tap. i'm gonna swing my leg over and hyperextend his arm in one second. and even if I did get bitten..uhh... good luck getting through my jeans first of all and if you do...i think a massive hyper-extension is WAY worse the a bite out of the back of my thigh. retard.

  • An arm-bar in one second is not realistic if someone is upset and resisting it. Also, that technique should not be applied with leg over opponent's mouth. There is a lot of attention on ground fighting these days, but it is a different story when someone doesn't allow it and uses body movement and strikes against them to stop it. Many soft targets and pressure points will make them think twice if they grab or wrestle, such as fingers/toes/throat/vital points. if 2 or more attack, then what

  • it's better to go for a kimura or something like that

  • @Jesushugoo kimura is harder to get on any opponent and the choke is easier to maintain once you actually have it u moron T_T

  • @lightseeker85 it is a simple switch from an arm bar to a triangle choke, if they resist, boom! triangle choke, or if you dont wanna risk getting bitten in the crotch, improvised kimura, they either keep it bent and give u the kimura or straighten it and give you the arm bor or you switch to triangle choke, its a win-win-win situation xP

  • @6XstringXsamurai i always thought about that. in a fight idk if i would wait for him to chill out or just go ahead and break his arm...guess it depends on the situation. but i kno one thing, if somone did bite me they would for sure have a broken arm. no matter what the sittuation is.

  • @lightseeker85 thats why you stick to leg submissions heel hooks, ankle locks, knee bars calf slicers, etc xP

  • Excuse me everyone for the miss leading I'm not a master at Jui jitsu Nor am that good, a little forgetful if you would. But yes To anyone that i miss led please excuse me and thankyou for correcting me, and may you all win any fights you encounter. Except for you hamsterzoid,That was un calld for. But i apollogize for my spelling and what i said and take care Brother.

  • I understand that most street fights will end up on the ground, but why take it there when it does not need to go there...I mean what u do on a matt for street fighting may be a lot harder to do on an actual street.

  • i noticed that the takedown is leg to leg. in a real fight drive your heel into his achilles and if you do it right you can snap it and disable him from standing back up

  • Hey Count Dickula why dont you shut up, and then learn to spell....mu plata....what a tool. Oh ill do this and that.

  • Oh im sorry i didn't spell MU PLATA correctly. But you are sure good at spelling Count Dickula. When you have something good to say comment me back and please try to think of something Smart to say. And show a little respect you inconsiderate prick.

  • ditch this look at 1;56

  • bullshit looks good in training but in real life it sucks

  • Maby your just not good at it. Do you even train? Because it would only not work if you wern't good. you don't even have to be good you just have to know what to do in Street fight situations.

  • I do JJJ & BJJ & boxing I would not go to the ground in a street fight if I could help it. If you do go to the ground you must brake the limb or choke to KO to make an example of them or they will just get up to fight you again.

Learning to Box is the first thing you should master, if you can clinch then you can throw with Judo or JJJ or BJJ only to KO. With boxing you can stun your enemy then use a standing strangle to grapple & KO.

I started in JJJ & Judo but if I was starting I would box.

  • Yes Well, if you are fighting an untrained person whos just... a Brawler then theres a good chance hes going to try and take you down by the legs. and i agree, a stand up game is necessary, But most fight go to the ground. and in those situations you need to have a ground game so the other person dosn't just pumble you. you can try to get in the Triangle. the mu plata or and arm bar, or you could simply Bumb and roll. It's good to have both stand up and ground game, thats why i do Muy TI as well

  • mu plata? whats that one? ive heard of omaplata and gogoplata whats the other one

  • Well it's when you and your apponent are on the ground, and you grab their wris with one hand, come under their arm with your other hand and grab your wrist, and then you just kind of push. I can't really discribe it, but it's the best i can do.

  • @CountD0nkula

    It's called a kimura...

  • @CountD0nkula thats completely wrong.

  • right but a person who knows nin jutsu would murder u

  • Starting with boxing gives you two bad habits - you leave your lead leg out and you don't develop relexes against take downs - combat kickboxing is the first thing you should take - it trains a lot against take downs - for example - kneeing to the face when someone shoots in

  • @infokemp kickboxing, Muay Thai, or Krav Maga would be better standing fighting styles to train in... trust me, boxing was the first style i trained in, good for combat sport but not self defense

  • @BioBrokun Thanks for the info - but please check out savage strikes by Mark Hatmaker - this book shows how boxing can be the basis for other martial arts to make a combined martial art system.

    All the best

    David

  • @cazyblood3 i'ma laugh when u get ur arm broken by someone who trains in bjj you moron xD i bet ur one of those morons who think martial arts are gay and everyone who trains in them are losers, friggin f*ggot i bet your older then me but i bet i could beat the sh*t out of u xD frigin retarded sack of cr*p

  • matt huges kicked his ass

  • Sadly, there isn't one martial art that is going to turn us into Chuck Norris. Obviously BJJ isn't good for defeating several opponents at the same time, what martial art is? It is good for allowing a smaller opponent to defeat a bigger one. Gun>Multiple opponents>BJJ> Other martial arts.

  • Ok Chuck Norris Trained under Bruce Lee. And the martial Arts today like in the UFC Would completely Destroy Bruce Lee and Chuck norris. You should Try some jiu jitsu or some Muy Ti, Trust me it works

  • @Listeningification Krav Maga>Gun/Knife/Any weapons xP Israeli Anti-Terrorism, you wann say their techniques don't work, go to Israel and tell the guys who fight Terorism EVERYDAY that it doesnt work xP

  • you have to be WAY faster then that!

  • @REBELANDAROWLEY ...no...

  • Dont bother going into the multiple attacker explanation.... every other martial art claims it's effective against multiple attackers.... wich of course is pure BS.

  • @MrDragonflamez just wait till you get ur arm broken by a bjj fighter u idiot xD

  • @BioBrokun im sorry im not homo like u :(

  • @MrDragonflamez what? ur not a homosapien? well now it makes sense, ur nothing but an ignorant little retarded monkey xP hahaha thanks for proving my point moron(:

  • @BioBrokun lmaooooo it took u 10 months just to figure out a comeback and ontop of that, it was a shitty one. Listen, you FAILURE, im not even gonna respond to another weakass insult u come up with. BYEEE!!! :D

  • @MrDragonflamez naww i just didnt pay attention to youtube like you cuz i actually have something called A LIFE but as i was cleaning out my email and deleting the 1000+ emails i saw an email about a comment response on youtube and read ur little comment, and its not meant to be an insult, i am just pointing out the obvious xP so yea stfu nd go die bitch, or better yet come find me nd i'll teach you to have some respect for true combat and fighters xP

  • that, is alot of mat space!

    i like it!

  • Well really in a street fight you fight dirty lol

Use keys, cheap shots, groin shots

  • true lol, but in a street fight if hes not in a dominant position and he throws a cheap shot he'll get his shoulder torn off (americana arm lock/ kimura), arm broke off (arm bar from mount/garud/standing up), neck turned white (gulliotine/rear naked choke), or face turned into a slaughter house(punches, elbows to the face), ect. lol.. now gjj is about coming to a place to negotiate such as if you dont stop ill break your arm off if he legit says he'll stop then stop if not then u kno wat happens

  • we do this at graciebarra- when we roll giving 50% and not go for submission. it really helps improve your reaction to your oppenent's move... god bless the gracies

  • Of course no one martial art works 100% of the time. Karate and the striking arts are amazing and can really help in a serious situation. So can BJJ. Having been in some fights, the value of ground skills, including takedowns and submissions like in BJJ is especially important because 90% of fights go to the ground. Sure, you can knock a guy out, learn how. But you can also learn to impose your will and dominate ANYWHERE by combining striking with BJJ. BJJ leads to MMA. The Gracie legacy.

  • Comment removed

  • I love brazilian jj and I think it's the best being an avid practitioner myself. However, I always have a gun with me in case I get "jumped" by multiple scroats. :)

  • BJJ & Judo is not designed to confront multiple attackers coz it is very obvious that it need to get close 2D opponent to execute the techniques. That is why there are other MA that tackles multiple attacker & defense against blunt or impact weapon (like Karate,Kali,Aikido,Kempo or JKD). Its either you take the fight to the ground if he is alone, strong or skilled or on your feet where you can kick & evade multiple opponent or simple use ur feet to run away =).

    Either ways Gracie is AWESOME!

  • this is true to a certain point, but like rener gracie my instructor says if you face multiple opponents get one break his arm off in about 10 seconds then deal with the other break his arm in about 10 seconds and so on lol.

  • that 10 seconds the other guy breaks your neck. BJJ could defeat other styles but not fit for self defense, Those styles BJJ toppled and maligned is more designed for facing multiple attacks and the street fight.

  • i wud hope you would have better awareness than letting some other guy break your neck.. plus ppl think gracie jiu jitsu is all ground work... if you go through the master cycle they have standing techniques through it and striking techniques... and heres some more stuff if there is multiple attackers which is very rare unless u live in the ghetto then those other arts arent going to work either cuz what happens when 4 guys grab you and then you go to the ground it is over!!!

  • So breaking a hand like arm barring somebody is more effective in multiple attacks?

Yah I know I cross trained in Gracie Barra but this strikes is definitely not designed for multiple attacks is it not? So it is pointless to say it here. I've been in Street fights in 2 and 3 attackers they don't grab. Even the take downs of BJJ is from the punches so it assumes the attacker would punch. Even Rener says most of of whom you will encounter doesn't know any art in his Gracie combatives course DVD.

  • hahhah gjj is the ultimate self defense . what martial art do u think is good for defeating multiple attackers?

  • there isnt one

  • my point exactly. gjj owns everthing

  • @thedoc56 Krav Maga is actually more well versed for self defense against multiple attacker than BJJ but they dont go AS in depth for ground grappling so Krav AND BJJ expertise would be the best self defense combo

  • BJJ is the shit. I love it more than anything in my life. I would never ever go to the ground at a place like- a bar. What if the dude you fight has like 10 buddies that you don't see. Fuck that shit. You may break the dudes arm but his buddies will stomp your face pretty nice by then.

  • So why are you so lonly to not have friends at a bar with you? and Also If the friends jumped in,they wouldnt wait until it hit the ground,,They would do it from the start when you stand.

  • if you have someone in mount how can they bite your face??

I Dont see how that can happen when the guy on top, being a bjj brown belt, would have so much control and leverage

  • ive been doing bjj for a couple of years now and i can say it has its plus sides, however on the street it is very dangerous to use

for an example: i know of a guy from my club, a bjj brown belt we all looked up to him, he went to western australia to become a bouncer.

one night a drunkard attacked so he instictually put him in mount, and wat happened the guy bit half his face off, not pleasant,

bjj works but on the street be carefull

    my two cents

  • Ouch! That hurts =)... learn BJJ but don't limit yourself into one style. Cover the ground, standing and blunt/impact weapon for self-defense. Learn other styles then add them together and you'll have 90% of survival. The 10% is the bad luck hehehe.

    My 50 Centavo contri =)

  • Everyones excuse for why JJ is not the most effecient martial art is laughable..."what if there are multiple attackers", "What if him or his budy as a knife"?

If there are multiple attackers, grab one fucker, take him down, QUICKLY put a joint lock on him and threaten to break it if everyone doesnt back off. Granted, you need to have some experience to pull off, believe me, they'l back off.

OR you have YOUR friends fight off whoever is jumping in.

No one is gunna pull a knife when you

  • have a mount or a gaurd. think about it... where are your legs in these positions. the one on bottom is too busy protecting his face from elbows when you have him on mount.

If you are good with guard play, if they start reaching for something...they are off balance and supply you with a nice triangle/armbar/other submission or sweep.

Dont get me wrong. it helps a lot to know what your doing standing up, but when/if you fall, you are gunna be down there for the rest of the fight.

  • how much do i need to study gracie jiujitsu

  • like wat tigerjab sed, evry martial art has its strengths and weaknesses. u cannot fight sum1 with just BJJ alone, or u cannot fight sum1 with striking alone. MMA is the key to vctory am i right???

  • why does he assume everyone that learns bjj wants to go out and fight on the street.

  • he doesnt, he makes sure you know if it comes to that.

  • We don't want to take anything away from BJJ this is not the point guys! All martial arts have good and bads look I happen to Royce Gracie he is outdated in his fight with Matt Hughes he was the old Royce no improvement whatsoever,,,,if BJJ alone is all you nedd why he was flatened in the fllor like a thin crust pizza.

  • uuhh....probably because he was fighting matt fucking hughes.....do you think the average asshole on the street is gonna be as versed in grappling as hughes??? don't think so.

  • You are missing the point..Royce can punch or kick even jiu-jitsu he lost to ismail in Rio, his game was old he went to sleep...The funny part is Ismail agreed to all rules that Rorion imposed I was there and was sad to see it, in todays world you have to cross train if you dont you loose end of discussion!
