They still do wear blue caps and their traditional uniforms, just not nearly as much. I like the black, but not nearly as much as the old design. They should just save the black for the Mets-Yankees games each year.

I went to MLB*com and looked at the standings page, which will allow you to look at the final standings for each year from 2001-2008.
With the exception of 2006, the Phils finished AHEAD of the Mets EVERY year.
Are the Mets REALLY better than the Phillies? I think the stats speak clearly.

Will we be seeing a repeat of 1969, only, for the possibility of taking the National League Pennant? If that's the case, the Mets should win the 2008 World Series as well, like they did back in 1969.

Can anyone tell me why the Mets decided a few seasons back to change their Caps from the classic blue they always wore to black? They look great in their classic blue color scheme. Thanks.

They still do wear blue caps and their traditional uniforms, just not nearly as much. I like the black, but not nearly as much as the old design. They should just save the black for the Mets-Yankees games each year.

The reason is simple: Cha-ching! Suckering the fans into buying 5 different "official" $180 caps and $950 jerseys. To be fair, everyone does it; many teams even more so. The Evil Empire probably will soon be marketing an official Derek Jeter Nosepicker/Scrotum Scratcher for about $3K so their fans can pass the time while downing their $390 beers from their $2800 seats on the roof. Suckers and their money are soon parted.

Same here from a Phillies fan, except the "good luck" part, as the Fightin's and the Amazin's are divisional rivals. ;-)
However, the man I honor in my screen name (legendary Phillies center fielder and broadcaster Richie Ashburn) retired from the '62 Mets.

I like baseball history, but your video might be improved if you could include more old pictures. It starts well, but the fact that half of it is just "Let's go Mets" makes it a little less good.

on the pictue of when everyone was on the field my dad was a kid he was at that game and he was on the field and poeple were riping off the grass on the field and there were no grass and people were sealing them on ebay and amazon
