Cay Tre is very good but for the best Vietnamese food in London you need to go to the other Au Lac on Blackstock Road near the old highbury stadium. They do a mean pho or if you want something hotter try the hue noodle soup. The greatest hangover food in the world. I'm ordering now as we speak :) 0207 704 9187
im vietnamese but my mom never cooks any real viet food, only for occassions. like for example, sometimes she would take canned spam, fry it, and i would eat it for dinner. wth that's just canned spam with rice, not vietnamese food. IM SO DEPRIVED LOL
i feel sorry for you man. before i left home for school i would eat it everyday but my mom eventually got lazy and kept ordering out lol. I miss viet food so much.
anyway i m french and i work in uk and i don t miss my country but when i go back in france the first thing i do is rush to a vietnamese restaurant and taste the best cuisine of the world but i really want to try (b4i die) chinese cuisine in china (canton) and vietnamese cuisine in vietname good video but the music is annoying lol $-)
okay i wonder for a long time now why in uk the chinese cuisine is very average the shop provide the right ingredient like rice pancake chinese mushroom but in restaurant they make the nems with weatpancake put soyabean instead of vermicelle, and normal mushroom and it s all cook like when i start cooking then across the channel in france in the cheapest chinese resto it taste like it s been cooked for an emperor why ?
yeah it's true. vietnamese restaurants offer food that you won't really cook at home.they're teh special dishes....normal food are rice dishes...they never sell these!
The foods look good. I wonder if this restaurant is related to the one in Little Saigon California, also named "Au Lac" but it is a vegetarian place. A very good one.
Great video, those dishes look delicious, really fresh. Anyone tried Viet Grill on Kingsland Road? That's another brilliant Vietnamese, they've also got an amazing wine list that pairs wines with certain dishes for you - genius!
I have had upscale Vietnamese cuisine. Believe me this is not it.
Every year we give honour to our dead relatives (grand mas, grand pa's) and
the whole fam gathers for this. There is roasted pork/duck, springrolls (that have cassava/taro in it), our own version of fried rice, noodles, etc etc.
This video is not authentic trust me. Its modified for a Western taste my friend.
@MykeTyson lol, maybe you live in oversea long time and have forgot your country cuisine. the salad is called Goi Ngo Sen my friend. we named our salad, I list for you to remind motherland taste
Ga xe khoai (chicken, banana, sprout.. salad), goi du du (papaya salad)Gỏi bưởi , Nộm phổ tai, Nộm hoa chuối...
BTW, the reason you probably have the "lotus root salad" everytime you return to NAM is because thats what the tourist restaurants and such serve, due to the popular demand...
Cuz in the households, there is no set "lotus root salad". We just eat lotus root

what about the lotus root salad though? I swear I've had that everytime we visit vn lol x_x
stridonsio 4 years ago
hmmmmmmmmmm... We eat lotus root yes.
But for our salads, I do not believe Vietnamese really "name" our salads... there are not really any official salads...
We just eat a lot of greens and veggies... especially steamed... like bok choy, okra, spinach, bitter melons, squash, eggplant, etc
