Anorak is correct, this isn't 'honesty,' this is dog shit. The 'music' doesn't fit the lyrics the least tiniest little bit; it's only worse if you've heard the good version from 2002.
I love this version! Bowie's voice is so much richer now that he's older. It gives the song so much more meaning, wisdom and depth. When will science advance cloning? I want my own personal David Bowie!!!
Amazing, utterly stunning piece of music. Reads lyrically like a tortured Byron epic on alienation and loneliness; I've often wondered if one can produce such a desperate work if not truly hurting?
David Bowie's deep vocals have always been my favorite style; see "Scary Monsters" or (I know; sorry!) "Let's Dance". When combined with these haunting cellos and strings, my God, his voice here is ephemeral. Sublime.
Guess what I'm tryin to say is that I dig this tune. TY for the post.
To bionicbigfoot; you can finde it on Ryko records 1990 reissue of the album 'Space Odity, but you'l probably have to search the USED CD's sections. Thats it as far as I'm aware. His voice is a bit higher pitched on the original recording and it's more countryish musicaly.
this can more easily be found in the Bowie Box set that was released like in december. I got it like yesterday but it's awesome. though 2 of the albums (hours and heathen) AI allready have, but event he bonus discs will make you buy it still even if you have all the albums.
This is great, very touching and heartfelt. I never understood why this song wasn't bigger than a b-side. reminds me of "yes it is" by the Beatles, in the sense of its being under-rated.
I actually don't care for his re-recording sessions of the Heathen period, where he was to make his abandoned 'Toy' album. They're all rather boring, I think. Though this one would have to be the best of those re-recordings.
Youtube just had to change the audio because they are gimps

@anorak52 ugh! if you don't have anything nice to say then suck your own genitalia instead of insulting a nice man's honesty.

@bjornwad I agree. I wonder if anorak52 has ever created anything except feces and sperm?

I disagree, this version fits the mood of the lyrics more aptly.

Heathen it's my favourite album ever. And this song contains all the sorrow I felt, back in 2002. And now.

The drum beat in this rendition remind one of Slow Love off of Ziggy Stardust.
