@SuperBababooie the only thing retarded, is how americans perpetuated the incorrect pronunciation of the word. just read the word, and you know, we americans do not speak it correctly.
@UnWrittenUK Sorry my UK friend. The way Becky says it here as "aluminum" is the correct American-english pronounciation of this word. It is both taught and spelled this way here in the US. It is also the officially recognized way per Merriam-Websters dictionary.
@UnWrittenUK the kids probably half your age and he did a better job on those wheels than you did in science class.. Aluminlum cant even be googled.. but that must be our american google for retards
Nice outcome. But... You should have sanded down the rust instead of just hiding it under a new layer of paint. And finally a layer of protective clear would make it look nicer also.
i did the same thing to my trucks spare tire, but when i removed the shit paint i painted it with i used a wire brush drill attachment, it took me like 5 seconds! u should get one, anyways nice video man, keep it up!
very nice work! There is no need to "buff" it afterwards? Some paints are okay to buff with a compound. Otherwise you did excellent work! Inspires me to work on my cars steel wheels. Thanks!
Good job ...Have you given any thought about maybe a clear coat of say urethane or would that not work for you ? anyway it came out nice and at 50 or 60 MPH who's gonna see anything but shine ?
@tazztt1 it would have I use it all the time on mine, Use a 000 or 0000 so it doesn't scratch them deep, just scuffs the rust off the surface. Alot of the time the rust doesn't get under the chrome.
If you really want those wheels to shine like real chrome!!...let the chrome paint dry for about 24 hrs..Then hit it with some clear. first coat light..ten sand with 2500 wet and dry 2nd coat heavy sand 2500 again 3rd coat heavy sand again...then use a drill with a polish pad to buff out the sanding... Those wheels will look just like they have been dipped in real Chrome if ya clear coat it ;) good luck!!
You did a little nice job you little rat turd though as far as the paint goes it looks more of a silver then a chrome thank you though im running a experiment im in the procces of restoring a cutlass ciera 87 got the car for cheap
Awesome Dude! You've just taught an old dog a new trick. I just built a custom BBQ Smoker on a boat trailer. The 1 of 2 wheels has some rust and I had planned to buy new wheels. Instead, you've empowered me to do it the "Cheap Way", but with an awesome finish. I'll be sure to do a "Before & After" video like you. Great Job! Thanks for sharing.
Most kids are sitting their asses in front of an Xbox, but your out there getting dirty fixing stuff up.. Way to go.. maybe there is hope for todays youth after all.
@redneck500 I think thats a bad stereotype...i mean i agree but me and my friends have restored old cars, includng a marvrick that im rebuild the engine, we atv and fix our own bikes.
Wish i would of seen this video awile back, i had a set of crome wheels that some dummy thought would be a good idea to paint em black. well didnt look good at all. Seeing your video makes me wish i would of never sold them and put alittle time into them.lol
Your garage? yeah I dont think so pip squeek.
RHamill7 17 hours ago
you should have got some acetone that would have taken it right off without scratching the chrome
