No, you're not "being a bitch". This film is exactly as you described it: "a stupid, soul-less thing with no reason to te xist." You're also right about Dreamworks: the sets do look as if they had a theme park attraction in mind. I think yet another part of the problem was the film's certificate. Also Goldsmith, responding to criticism of his music score, said that that was what he was asked to provide. I believe him. Great review though, so the film ended up yielding something good.
@CapnHulk Definitely. Not that HOHH isn't really bad, but it cost around 60,000,000 less so it has less bad per dollar. 13 Ghosts is the one to go with.
The only thing I like about this movie is that they made fun of it in Scary Movie 2. This was before the Scary Movie franchise became as lame, if not lamer, than the movies they were spoofing.
"Owen Wilson is there to be a doofus" Yep. You pretty much summed up 99% of his career lol.
LMAO at 9:54 I know the writing sucked, but I hate her acting too.
Nice Foghorn bit haha
I remember seeing this in about 9th grade or so. It's one of those horror movies that can't really be considered as good because they're trying to appeal to everyone, not just horror fans. I forgot about that part at the end with her soul. I hate sweet endings in a horror movie.
I often make the argument that the original film is the greatest horror film ever made. I'm also a fan of Legend of Hell House, but this film is one of the best examples of why Hollywood has it all so wrong. Great review.

I would pay good cash money to see a horror film where Foghorn Leghorn is the central meany. Definitely blockbuster material.
"The Haunting of Hen House," maybe?
Good job, stront. Thanks for sharing.
