  • Same thing happened to my droid 1. Like exactly. Also tried just about everything, new ROMs, reset to factory defaults, under/overclocking, different kernels and nothing worked. Wound up getting a new phone. Luckily it was over 2 years old so I was due for an upgrade from vzw

  • My Droid does the same thing, I hate it.

  • I've been told it is a known software problem. My Droid R2D2 (basically a Droid 2) will do the same. I can power it down, take the battery out and it will still do it. BUT if I restart it in SAFE MODE, it will work fine. Then I just reboot it again in regular and it will be fine. So it acts like a software issue, but I think it is heat and moisture related. I've learned booting it in safe mode is fastest way to get it cleared. I've tried leaving it unpowered 10 minutes and not clear before!

  • so you will (as well as everyone else with a similar issue) have to replace the touchscreen. (Motorola A853/A855 Digitizer)

  • no my bad, the problem occurs every time now. i have tried everthing that you are likely to try, uninstalling apps, reset to factory, thorought cleaning, overclocking, deactivating overclocks, new android o.s, caliberation software, leaving the phone with dessicant for a day to get rid of anymoisture, heating it up, cooling it down, all to no avail. Sometimes it will appear to fix it temporarily.

  • the problem will keep coming back, your phone has a faulty digitizer. I'm replacing my digitizer to solve this issue, it keeps going then coming back, every time it comes back it gets worse. at the moment it occurs twice in every three times i turn the screen off and on, and on the third time it begins at a random time. it presses about 20 things per second.

  • I fixed it by messing with it and after an hour I restored it to factory and use an iphone USB plug outlet . After charging it the problem it went away I think the problem is the charging port . My phone kept going to activation screen trying to call Verizon every time but now it works great I bought it on eBay for 20 dollars I can't complain with clear esn .

  • Maybe there's a ghost inside of the computer giving sentience to the machines, and whilst that happened, perhaps the ghost is arguing with the machine and the machine ponder it's existance...and denies that the ghost created it? Dunno. If a hacker or cracker didn't get into it, I'd have to say something with computer code has to do with is, seeing as you haven't droped it in water or on the ground hard or anything. Nice though.

  • What's the name of the soundtrack?

  • that happens when the lcd is exposed to water mine does it all the time. just dry out the screen and try rebooting

  • I SOLVED!!!! ...well i tell you what worked for me, i stop using a sock-type bag for my cellphone, then i cleaned with a anti static spray and a microfiber cleaning cloth, you will be sure is clean when you use your mouth steam in your screen and there´s no more fingertips. do it for a few days and your screen will work normally... well, in my case that was enough.

  • I am having the same issue with my droid2. I am waiting on my third phone. The problem is humidity/moisture. If it is humid outside, in my pocket on a hot day, in the bathroom while taking a shower, I talk on it after exercising it will always happen. The moisture is somehow messing up the screen. I don't think there is a fix for this, just a poor quality phone. I have a friend with an Iphone and another friend with an Incredible and they do not have this problem.

  • NOTE!!! I FORGOT TO MENTION, MAKE SHURE BEFORE YOU DO ALL THIS YOUR BATTERY IS FULL CHARGE

  • Hi to every one!!!

    PROBLEM FIX!!

I have a motorola droid I have the same problem about a week ago and FINALLY!!! after few days I found the way to fix this all you need to do is remove the battery plug the original wall charger to your device after 5min put the battery back on, then unplug the charger and last step turn off and back on.

Its been 1 week since I did this and the phone is working fine, I saw this video and I sign up to make this comment :P Hope this help.

    Have a great one.

  • @benjasegundo0314 : if ur right den thumbs up to You as ur d nly 1 on the whole planet to provide a answer to this tracherous insane problem

  • The problem halfway went away for me. No more of the screen going crazy, now its just a portion of the screen not working. If anybody knows a link to a video with my problem, please tell me.

  • This also happenned to me. I'm pretty sure its because I got rain all over the touch screen though.

  • I deleted my previous comment, because the problem did, indeed come back. It's not as bad anymore, but still annoying. I can only hope that I can get together enough money soon for my upgrade. Probably going for the 4g HTC Thunderbolt.

  • idk what to do...should i take it to the store?

  • I have the same exact issue on my Motorola Droid.

  • i was soo pisssed when this happened to me and i took it to a cell phone repair store and the just put a new digitizer in it for 65 bucks and i got my phone back in like 3days:)

  • i was having the same issue few days back. its the oily fingers and the humid doing this. i clean the screen few times with anti-static cleaner(spray) and wola problem solve

  • i had d same problem too

so wat i di was did a soft reset then use stock launcher

it bcame stable overnite so i re-installed launcher pro

i tucked it on my waist during joggin and the touchscreen was not responsive for about 30 mins.

i had to rebbot by taking the battery, hours later the problem disappear.

    did u install beautiful widget?

    try to remove it

  • I had this problem. It quit doing it for a while when i hit it with a hammer and shattered the screen. but its been about a month of using a droid with a broken screen and now nothing works. :/ droid 2, here i come!

  • @xxxRyanxEdgexxx

    LMFAO XDD

  • it is the charger that causes it

  • last Continuation: A great tool was MIQlive you can look it up. it is provided by Best buy for free and syncronizes youir phone to the cloud. When I got the new phone installed the app from market and sync'd and got all my txt and other stuff on the new phone.

Everything was fine until now when I dropped my phone and the screen got smashed. Time for an upgraded... maybe Droid2, maybe Droid X?...Realy want to wait a month for the pre-christmas releases and possibly a VZW 4G/LTE Android phone.

  • Continuation: Eventually after a couple of visits and on the last one arguing with the rep who said I was never there before regarding this issue I had another friendlier rep look up my account history and they were able to find that I was in there previously and agreed to replace it. Since they don't stock this phone at the store, a replacement was sent to me through Fed-Ex (If I remember correctly).

New phone arrived and I transfered my stuff to it.

  • After arguing with VZW and even showing them the video they refused to replace it since they could not duplicate it. I told the rep that if I knew how to duplicate it I would know how to avoid it. I was told that I would have to reset the phone to factory settings. I did that later, at home since I wanted to first backup everything first. I then called VZW customer service to walk me through it so there would be a record of the reset in my account history file.

  • Has anyone solved this problem?

I had the same problem for 2 weeks and now, suddenly, everything works fine.

I want to avoid to send the phone under warranty because I haven't a backup-phone available

What do I do? I hope my droid continue to work or I send it under warranty?

  • this happened to me last night. it would be replaceable if you have insurance. i unfortunately didnt have it.. plus i had a crack in my screen. so i had to get a new phone. im not sure what caused it though

  • Wonder if they consider the keyboard coming apart wear and tear, too. Oh wait, they don't. The freaking assholes told me it wouldn't be covered under warranty, but Verizon immediately was like, "Oh, we'll replace it for you." If anyone has any trouble like this, Verizon should be their first stop. Motorola won't do shit.

  • I have had this same exact issue with mine. It started randomly yesterday and the only thing that seems to help is shutting it off, then turning it back on. I'm afraid they won't replace my Droid because it has some superficial scratching on the front frame. These phones are riddled with problems. It's probably why they launched the Droid 2 so quickly.

  • @GhostAgentNova If you just have the scratches around the touch screen on the titanium as long as you're covered by manufactures warranty or just insurance they'll replace it for you. The scratches are normal wear and tear.

  • I am having the same issue. Has anyone brought it in to have it checked out, or gotten an explanation?

  • Did it ever go away? I have this same issue

  • It maybe due to the humidity in the air or inside ur pocket.

Try letting it dry off a bit if your hand is sweating easily.

I also had this issue with my milestone(GSM). Recently dint happen.
