The song isn't difficult to get at all. Sad thing is that despite the amazing metaphors, poetry and word play, Lupe is still under rated, and it's tragic cause he's literally the best MC alive and most thought provoking.

I think the reason Lupe is so underrated is that people don't get it. You see most of us here understand how deep and intricate this song is, but when I play this to my friends, most of them don't get it. It's actually kind of sad that nobody really appreciates this type of poetry. People will just play a song over and over without knowing what it means or just not caring.

I think the director's "cube" is a pretty stupid interpretation being that "The Box" is Lupe's metaphor FOR television and "the media" and the influence it has over our lives.. yet this guy took that literally and called it a "metaphor".. basically he's saying "the cube" is a metaphor for TV and the media yet "The BOX" IS the actual metaphoric reference.. the cube is a literal interpretation of "the box." I think it would of been better to stick with the intended imagery relating to media n' tv.
