  • I lOve your voice ;)

  • ok so i had kinect dash and then my jtag wouldnt go dashboard it would boot xell so then i decided to just dump my nand thru xell to get dash so now i lost the xell anyway to get it back with a ethernet cable sence i lost my nand x?

  • @OGMxOWNER

Let me get this straight, your 360 stopped booting into dash, then it would only boot Xell, then you made a backup of your NAND, then Xell broke (why?), then you lost the NAND. If that is the series of events, you're 360 is doomed. Xell doesn't just break for no reason, what did you do? It won't load if a DVD drive isn't connected. If your 360 has any life in it, and you still have your CPU key, you can dump, then use Freeboot Toolbox Maker to make a new flash file.

  • @QuackMasterDan

oh so thats why. so im gonna connect a dvd drive then a flashed one

  • Could you tell me what app/software you are using to display the translucent date/time/apps bar at the top, and also how you set your desktop to auto-change.

    Great tutorials, very helpful! :)

  • @r1KmAN

I am running the app Rainmeter for the translucent bars. I coded the app-launcher myself, and modified the clock 10 foot HUD. I've uploaded my three config files to mediafire for you, its linked below (delete the spaces). It's hard coded for 1920x1080. You'll need to edit the file paths of the launcher for it to work. My code is simple to edit and understand.

The desktop auto-changer is built into Windows 7. For Windows XP, I use Automatic Wallpaper Changer.

  • yo , I got 6 jtags but My friend keeps buging me to ask someone if yu can play xex menu on his flashed xbox , I told him no but he wont shut up so yeah ...

  • @GamesMods2011

XeXMenu will not run on a system that only has a flashed DVD drive. It needs BOTH a flashed DVD drive, and a JTAG (freeBOOT or XBReboot) NAND. That is to boot of a XeXMenu DVD, you can also load it straight from the hard drive in Game Library.

  • @QuackMasterDan Yo Also , How do I Extract a Nand Image from a retail xbox so I can Extract its KV

  • @QuackMasterDan Yo Also , How do I Extract a Nand Image from a retail xbox so I can Extract its KV , And Get Its DVD + CPU Key

  • @GamesMods2011

That's.... entirely what this guide shows you. Try watching through the first five minutes of Part two again.... You need Xell/Xellous to get them.

  • I tried to run the command, but I'm getting "Could not detect a flash controller"

  • @brwcrw

Does your 360 have the power cord plugged in? It should still be POWERED OFF, but it needs a power cable plugged in. LPT needs to be soldered to the motherboard, and the DB25 (LPT) connector attached to a motherboard Parallel port. Power off compy, then power on with LPT connected.

  • ...and now it wont' even boot. Dammit.

  • Alternates for DB1F1 are - FT1U2 and R2P12.

If you ever get screwed, you can always flash your full ORIG.BIN to the NAND and it will return to being a normal system. Here is a link to a PDF of JTAGing, I presume you're getting lost somewhere or missing an important step.

Note that you should inject your keyvault and config data into Xell.

Link is below, delete spaces cause YouTube blocks links.

Skip Step 3, stop at step 8 (since that is for XBReboot, not freeBOOT)

  • @QuackMasterDan

There's my problem. I followed this too literally: "Xell is as simple as - nandpro.exe lpt: -w16 Xell.bin -Where Xell.bin is your Falcon_hack_updxell". So I basically jammed xell on there raw with no kv or config data.

I want to put orig.bin back on to get a fresh start, what's the command for that?

    THanks!!

  • is it nandpro lpt: -w16 orig.bin?

  • @brwcrw

Yes, that is exactly correct to take you back to stock.

  • ok, I realized I was being lazy and google 'alternate db1f1' myself. I found the 'reverse jtag' diagram. Figured since I had the board out I would redo all the solder points to the bottom and I'm very confident that these points are now good. I turned it on with eject, still got e79. Now i'm hooked back up and running "Xell is as simple as - nandpro.exe lpt: -w16 Xell.bin" as we speak.

  • Hey Dan, I'm back! I finally got a little time to work on this again. I think DB1F1 might be the problem. I think I may have burnt that pad up. I had a hard time getting the solder to stick (cheap flux) and I it may have got too hot. It's pretty black at this point. Is there a way to repair it or is there an alternative point for DB1F1?

  • Thanks for response, I'll give this all another shot tomorrow night. LPT wiring is less than 12 in and worked on the first board (xenon), so I'm confident my cable is good. I'll double check that everything is in the right spot. For wiring the jtag on Falcon, is the wire to the radio board the best spot?

How do I flash just Xell at this point? I got the SMC hack (falcon_opus_hack.rar) off of xbins. Are you saying that's no good? or the command I entered may have screwed it up? thx again

  • @brwcrw

If your cable has worked before, then it's fine. By E79, I meant your JTAG wiring. are you using default (DB1F1/RF Panel Pin 6) or AUD_CLAMP? Make sure it's default. As far as RF Panel Pin 6, I recommend doing it underneath the motherboard, rather than actually soldering to the RF board. this way you don't have to undo your wiring when taking apart the box. Xell is as simple as - nandpro.exe lpt: -w16 Xell.bin

    Where Xell.bin is your Falcon_hack_updxell

  • Thank you for this tutorial. I had great success with my first console, but now I am having problems with a falcon. I had to dump 4 times before I got a matching NAND (3 and 4 were identical - had one error at 122 on both, but thought that was okay). Followed all the steps, but now I can't get into xellous. When I press the eject button, I get e79. When I press the power button, I get 3rrod. Any ideas what went wrong?

  • @brwcrw

As far as your wiring for identical dumps. Make your wiring under 18 inches, use all the resistors and grounds, ground the PC and 360 chassis together. One error at 122 is normal.

Try flashing on JUST Xell, see if it boots. An e79 means either a) The most likely, your wiring is messed up or b) something is wrong with the SMC hack you are using.

Power resulting in RRoD is normal, just focus on Xell for now. You can update Xell to Xellous with a USB stick (updxell.bin). Google it.

  • DUDE THANK YOU SO MUCH I GOT A JTAG'D XBOX! :D you rock! lol pretty easy to follow, the soldering was the worst part lol

  • Wow,a guide to Jtagging in the most confusing, elaborate manner possible!

  • @ddsdavey

That wasn't very helpful, why not suggest a better method/guide? I know there are much faster methods with less steps, but this guide is meant to be very thorough in explaining different tools and methods. I don't appreciate spending many hours to make a guide to help beginners get started, and then have vicious, non-helpful criticism. If this one sucks, please make a better one yourself, I'd be interested in seeing how it turns out.

  • @QuackMasterDan These videos are extremely useful. I have no idea what ddsdavey is talking about. It really helps watching someone go through all the steps for someone who hasn't jtagged an xbox yet.

  • @Tom83L

I'm glad they've helped you out, I may be doing a new video series for dashboard 12611, which is a bit of a different process, this still is the basic process. Thanks for the comment =]

  • @QuackMasterDan What has changed with dashboard 12611? I'm going to jtag my first Xbox 360 next week.

  • @Tom83L

Dashboard 12611 was released about two weeks ago. It is the newest dashboard, and adds support for Kinect, along with it will be required to play any new games released as of today. 12611 can be built with freeBOOT Toolbox Maker the exact same way, and flashed the same way, just you need version 2.6 or higher.

You WILL need to flash12611 if you want to play any new discs, as any new game will only run on 12611. If a new game asks to install a patch, don't do it or you'll have a brick.
