The last race must be a heartbreaker for the racer you aimed the green shell at near the finish line, as you "stole" his 2nd place finish from him. It is not surprising after watching so many online races on Youtube and my own online races, that luck does play a role on who wins or loses.

If you want to stabilize your control on the shrooms, you shouldn't trick off of every single one, because it just makes it a lot harder to turn off of that one. Tricking off of every shroom isn't that helpful either.

Only trick off the shrooms that give a transition to the green shrooms or the ground. Tricking off of of something and then tricking off of a shroom won't give you any boost at all, so there's really no need for it.

Sometimes, it's hard to not fall off the mushrooms when you have something that is speeding you up at the time (For instance: golden mushrooms, Mushroom,) And with the bullet, it sometimes will stop you right over the openings between the mushrooms. IMO, not a good level to use those sort of things...

how do you slide and seem to constantly have boost?

also i have noticed that when people fall off edges into lava etc.. they somehow appear straight back in the race and dont get picked up? how is this possible? i thought it could be some time delay or something but its not

I just powerslide a lot, therefore get a lot of boost. That's all there is to it.

And when people fall of ledges etc. and then reappear back on the track, it's just the way that Mario Kart lags online. The game updates your opponents position on your screen, and sometimes that makes it think someone's driven off a cliff when they haven't, so the next time the game updates your opponent's position they're back on the track.

VR = versus rating. It's basically the points you gain or lose after each wifi match, depending on how well you did.

never underestimate a low VR. I once saw a guy with really low VR get first place in rainbow road. I got second. Half an hour before that, I got first in sherbert land after losing 200 vr

I basically fired it and prayed, it's always difficult to tell on Wi-Fi if you're going to hit someone as sometimes the game doesn't always read your opponent's position correctly.
