damn this boss pissed me off. i get them to turn into the big doll and i have slow on it and blink on every one. the glare kept missing and i almost kill her and bam... they turn back into small dolls so i said screw it and i killed the dolls by themselvs

If you kill the dolls fast enough you don't even have to fight the big one.

I think it depends in which order you kill the small ones, but I'm not sure.

It seems that killing the purple ones will prevent the fusion, but is it safe to kill just one of the purple ones? For the sake of bestiary completion?

I don't believe killing them prevents fusion, but just to be sure, it's most likely safe to kill only one, though I believe you can all the purples and just leave two orange ones instead. However, I've always seen people kill all but two of the purple ones.

So I'd go with what you said, just to be on the safe side until someone can confirm it.

So they finally made FFIV for the DS in Japan huh? Wonder how long it will be before it reaches here in the US. Also if they made FFIV they have to have plans for FFV and the best FF in the FF series FFVI. What would be more interesting, would be if they made FFVII on the DS, since FFVII for the PSX is similar to what it would look like in the DS versions, I see no problem there, I mean I know there will be a PS3 Remake of it, so the DS version, if there will be one, might come out the same time

Hell. No. FVII, the second worst game in the series (X and X-2 being the absolute worst) has enough bloody remakes and homages and "sequels" and "prequels" as it is.

VI would be nice to see though; especially if they put the Dragon's Den from FFVI Advance in it.

For this version its best to kill all 6 of the dolls before they merge into the bigger one.

Especially since the bigger doll can confuse everybody at once which you don't want that to happen.
