  • Another Space Invaders knockoff.

  • @jtomally9681 Then you don't know GORF. That was just one mission of five per level. I spent many quarters making it to 2nd mission "Space General" in the early 80's. This is a poor version of the Arcade game. It would talk to you and piss you off laughing at you, which is why I dropped so many quarters into it. I think it was the best arcade game ever made.

  • Get an Intellivision!

  • @uriituw Me too. BurgerTime is one of the greatest titles on the Intellivision.

  • The Flag Ship one shot was great! XD

  • I have this for Atari 2600.

  • I always wondered why Gorf wasn't made for at least the PS2 or one of the newer systems? I say PS2 because they have done well with recreating the classic video games without changing them from the arcade.

  • Hey, nice review. I think I used to have this as a kid, if not something similar. So, I was wondering, there's a couple games that I had dug up from the past that I'd like to see you review sometime if you feel like it; The Heist, and Sewer Sam. I had both of those as a kid, and I don't care if the review is bad or not, I just want people to know they exist, they're VERY obscure titles from what I can tell.

  • Good review I was a demon at Gorf arcade when I was like 10 or 11 back in 1982

I used to spend a lot of pocket money to get to Space Avenger I have the Colecovision version it's ok but it's not quite the same no speech and no Galaxians

  • you will meet a gorfian doom, dadada

  • GORF is frog backwards. In the arcade, Gorf had a flight joystick..you got rankings by the game (which at the start talks to you and calls you a 'Space Cah-det' and as you played your rank went up)

My fav game to play because it was 4 in one.

Also Colecovision was the best home system prior to Nintendo.

  • I was fascinated with Gorf in the arcade, as well as Berzerk and another game called Wizard of War, because those machines had speech. Apparently, home consoles of the day like Colecovision weren't powerful enough to do speech, as the hardware that required was probably too expensive to keep the price of the console down.

  • Loved Gorf actually getting a machine.

Only way i will play space cadet.

Made it to Warrior in Tahoe when i was 19 im 50 now.:)

  • This game reminds me of something wmmm what is is....? space invaders

  • Man this brings back a lot of memories I spent a lot of time playing this and Zaxon on our old Colecovision.

  • I never owned a Colecovision system ( I had an Atari 2600) but I had a friend who did and he had Gorf. It was really a fun game to play.

  • That music is from a porno.

  • cant the ship move up and down on this version???

  • Bad ass game!

  • I used to have a gorf game in my living room in the early 80's. I knew a game distributor dude who left it at my place for about a year. I was very popular then.

  • where can i get a system? i have games for it. mine broke. Desparately want coleco back

  • I'm 11 and I love Gorf. X3 It's great.

  • @VideoGameGod241 ... Your kidding.. right

  • @haxor758 Nope. Well. I'm 12 now. But Gorf is awesome.

  • What? Never played the arcade version??? BLASPHEMY! For a REALLY good time, search:

    .

    Gorf (Midway 1981)

    .

I pumped MANY quarters into this game; this, Ms Pacman and Gorf kept me broke @ 16! Great action, gameplay and feel, awesome sound/visual effects (unlike this Coleco BS, destroying the Flag Ship in the arcade version is virtually orgasmic!), and it takes quite a bit of skill to get promoted! If you consider the arcade version only, then the guy is right: Gorf is the perfect video game!

  • It's worth noting that, while Colecovision's competition was the Atari and Intellivision, it was released in the timeframe that Japan was working on the Famicom and the SG-1000 systems.

Colecovision's hardware is nearly identical to the Sega Master System, exact same CPU at the same clock speed and Sound chip, but with less RAM and a slightly weaker Video chip. It's easily the most powerful of all early American consoles, and to this day offers some of the best pre-1984 Arcade ports.

  • I never owned the Colecovision system, but I certainly remember it. It was pricey at when it came out, but it was a great platform. It was the closest to arcade style graphics and game play as you were going to get for a home console. Thanks for this retro video.

  • blowing up battlestar galactica with an x-wing?

  • It's a wonder that they never capatilizsd on this game's success by making any sequels

  • GORF spelled backwards is FROG

  • @disciple90633

your name spelt backwards is obvious

  • I dunno why, but this game reminds me of the arcade-perfect Space Panic Colecovision game.

  • hit up gamester81, I'm sure he'd be happy to donate you a system! he has about 10,000,000 of them

  • This version omits the Galaxian stage.

  • Brings back a lot of memories

  • I used to play it on my Atari 8-Bit computer, as well.

  • Hey I gotta say Gorf rules!

    One of my childhood favs..

  • joke?

  • I LOVE the arcade variant of Gorf, its so fun, and this Coleco version is considerably different and doesn't use sprite scaling like in the arcade, still I think this game looks like a whole bundle a' fun!

    Gotta have it!

  • I just noticed something. This game's title kinda sounds like the way Coach Z would say, "Golf."

  • @NinjaGhostScorpion Nice observation

  • Would one of those PC-emulated, official Intellivision packs count as far as the game reviews are concerned?

  • This is the first game I'm getting for the one day far in the future when i acquire the mighty Colecovison!

  • they sold a bunch in the 80's. Just check ebay they always have some.

  • OMG Gorf!! I reached 9 levels past space general. Miss this game too much! This along with the pinball game black knight!! I want the original arcade game. Not this imitation..

  • I loved this game. I had it. I actually used to play the arcade version of GORF for hours in the arcades. This game is actually a very good copy of the arcade version.

  • Coleco were the masters when it came to arcade ports.

  • LMAO 7:36!

    I absolutely love your reviews!

  • Best thing about the arcade game is that it talked, back when we thought that talking video games would be impossible.

  • *Insert Coin, Gorf lives!!*(robot voice)

  • Have you got a 1982 Vectrex?

  • I know. He bought one a few months after I commented. (3 months ago!)

  • Oh man..this is great! I'm turning 30 and I still own mine with a crap load of games!!! cant let it go..

  • I MUST GET A COLECOVISION!!

  • HWHAHA I'm getting one today :)

  • I love the constant promotions. How high does it go, anyone?

  • Congrats on your promotion!

  • I had this on atari.....there were several different levels i could choose from...it was like a pimped out version of space invaders

  • I went to a small town by bus just to buy this game on Coleco. Loved it so much that it becam my tag (graffiti) for about one year. Proud to be a nerd!

  • Loved me some GORF. Skate & Space Op, FLA.

ps. you could do rappid fire on the atari 2600 for Space Invaders. You just had to hold down the reset button while powering on the console.

  • wait a second do you have to hold down the switch because the atari didnt have any buttons or atleast till the junior

  • You could also just turn on the console then turn it off and back on very quickly to get rapid fire. Loved these games back then, but when I look at them now, I appreciate how far they have gone since then.

  • thought i was the only one that remembered gorf lol, good stuff, many other coleco vision games that are good too, dr pepper, venture, etc

  • Hail Space General! I hope the Classic Game Room goes on forever too. Anyways this does look like a sweet game. I heard of it, but I never played it before. I like the different varied waves in it.

  • gorf kicked ass back in da day and still dos

  • do you have a vectrex? you didnt mention it ad one you need buy i havent seen any reviews of it

  • GORF was a kick-ass game in the arcades!! 1 of my favorites. If this is for the Coleco, it was outstanding. Everyone that had ATARI wanted Coleco, too bad it didn't last.

  • I remember dumping tons of quarters into this game. I loved it.

  • Unfortunately, this version lacks a Galaxian-like round.

  • Most of them did, as it would cost more to pay for the Galaxian license too (since Namco made it).

  • another weird name is GWAR. lol.

  • Penguin Attack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow you killed the flag ship in like 2 seconds lol.

  • I can't wait for a review of the Colecovision.

  • i have that game. its not bad gameplay actually

  • you said you have a lot of game systems. do you have a Fairchild Channel F? Telestar? Emmerson Arcadia?

  • GORFTACULAR

  • u sound like dane cook for some reason, lol

  • COOL

  • does it work for pencils?

  • at around 2:30 looks like Space Invaders

  • just by looking at this video i can tell this game was made with alot of care and thought put into it.

    Another great review!

  • do you have any plans for reviewing the new golden axe game mark

    markers

    srekram?

  • halo 3 will be a classic for sure

  • I had some chinese food for lunch yesterday and it made me GORF.

  • i love colecovision! still have it with steering wheel, and 2600 expansion!

in early 80's, my friend was playing montizuma's revenge and fell back in chair and had a seizure! we poked him with a stick untill he awoke. good times man! it was before they put warnings on games.

  • That's fucking badass, you didn't call an ambulance or nothing

  • i love the music that comes off when you destroy the last ship and get promoted, have it as my ringtone haha

  • untill they understand hahahaha

  • do you guys have a neo geo? Another great game console. I have an intelivision. Personally i like atari 2600 & 7800 better.. Great review as always. p.s have you thought about another Resident evil review. Its been ages since the last ( code veronica for dreamcast ) keep rockin the CGR.

  • Have you got a Turbografx-16?

I would love to see some reviews for that game system. :)

  • MOAR GORF

  • REVIEW HALO 3 lol or gears. that would be cool with your review style. halo 3 is now a classic so its okay to be reviewed by classic game room lol

  • "REVIEW HALO 3 lol or gears. that would be cool with your review style. halo 3 is now a classic so its okay to be reviewed by classic game room lol"

    Wtf? They arent classics..

  • There is a Halo 3 review.

  • halo 3 classic....u fail

  • Halo a classic LMFAO!! Halo is overrated and it's FPS! Plus how can something new be a classic?

  • Regurgitation. Halo IS bad, yes, but still. It being a FPS isn't what makes it so. All the hype, failed fanboys and crummy and repetitive story/gameplay is what makes it bad. My opinion.

  • totally right

  • he did review halo 3 already and sorry but it's no classic. halo is an extremely overrated and over hyped series.

  • Yuckluck you're retarded dude that ain't no classic you're a shame go away.

  • Do you have any Commodore 64 stuff? I always thought it was a really good gaming system back in the day. Good Job!

  • I used to play this for the Atari 2600 when I was a kid.

  • i recall this game talking in the arcade.

  • Didn't CGR have a Jaguar at one time. I remember there was some fighting game that was reviewed with that crazy guy who would lift up his skirt to shoot a fireball. I recall mark mentioning he traded his jaguar in for a toaster.

  • Oh yeah! Your right!

  • Kasumi Ninja, the review is still in CGRHD's channel.

  • i have somethin like this its called galaxian and its on a 3.5 floppy disk

  • Wow man you have never played Gorf? That is shocking! Great game. And the Colecovision version looks awesome. I have not played that one. But I have played the arcade version. Cool video man.

  • I highly recommend the 5200 :)

Alhtough, as far as arcade conversions go, I believe the Colevision has better games. Mouse Trap and Space Fury were some of my favorites for hte Colecovision.

  • oh sorry just watched the end of the vid. now i know you don't have the console i mentioned. sorry about that.

  • GORF is FROG backwards.

This game looks absolutely GREAT for its time.

  • Hi could you maybe possible do a review on Intellivision and ColecoVision systems..please and thanks..oh, do you have an Intellivision? Sorry.

  • hay i wanna be a SPACE GENERAL too >:(

  • NICE!!!

O'yeah., you gotta get an Intellivision., you'll love it., great games.

You'll hate the controller though.., quite possibly the worst controller in video game history.

  • can you do a review on this console?

so i can tell what i'm buying

  • Why can't new games use sound effects from the atari era? I would like nothing better than master chief's gun to sound like an off-key flute.

  • What a great looking GORF cart you have there Mark. If only I had such a beautiful GORF cart as that one that you have. Make sure to keep the Colecovision reviews comeing.

  • Thanks to you pal! More are coming. Hey... is that Elvis? -CGRHD

  • check ouyt my video classic game room hd some thoughts that is wat is is called

  • Glad to hear that. No, I don't think that's Elvis, my wife would be here if it was.
