I loved the pictures, they are very expressive and, umm, effective. The only thing is the song... a quite bizarre choice... maybe the illustration of the fissure between youths and innocence? I really don't know if I understand this...
If the paintings appears as "scary" maybe it's because young people nowadays are hideous and scary. Young people were completely different in Britten's times. The paintings are based on unperfect pictures...closed eyes, wrong gestures, but the camera doesn't lie, neither the artist who painted these works.
In other words, we should think on why do we scare and feel uncomfortable with these paintings.
This is an example of the typical anything-goes approach to pseudo art. Someone takes a stellar recording of beautiful music and turns it into nauseating garbage while probably violating every copyright rule in the book. This simply stinks. Make your own 'art' or buzz off.
The paintings are rather dull. I prefer people who CAN actually draw to people who use photos. There is nothing wrong in it, from a moral point of view, but I simply think that real drawings have more power because they spring directly from the mind of the artist.
First of all, this recording is amazing, but I really don't see what the music has got to do with these paintings. Those paintings of teeth have absolutely nothing to do with either the music or the text which they are singing.
And: I'm not sure wether painting pictures after photographs is a complex and meaningful form of art. How about taking the "emo-touch" out of it and try to work with light and colours?
i like this warm song in contrast with your polemic paints. The selections of music always are very interesting and amazing. please you show us more elaboreted videos because I already saw all quite.
this is probably one of the finest recordings of this piece and the artist here is exploiting the woman in control as the woman out of control for the raging birth of the savior.......Namaste
Either the paintings are entirely inappropriate or the music is . . . they certainly do not belong together. Britten is setting to music a medieval carol describing the infant Jesus as saviour of the world. What does that have to do with teeth? For that matter, what difference does it make what Britten's father did for a living? I find the violent contrast between Britten's music and these graphics totally repulsive.
Thanks for the music credit. Love the series of your work. Some of the pieces are a little uncomfortable to look at, but that's what I like about them! Good luck with your career.
Hmm, no, I'm 24, so I'm just starting with art. This were some paintings I did of mouths, at that time I was interested in Senses, like taste, sight, etc. Right now my works are focusing towards erotic themes. (Which you can already see in some of this mouth paintings). :)
I think, it's a bit weird, that some people think that this video is inappropriate for minors... there are far worse things to be seen on youtube than this... O.o
I think this art does not quite suit the selection of music by Britton, but maybe i can't see where the artist was coming from, maybe you could write up a little info on yoru art and inspiration
It was just the theme of this paintings. They are part of a larger project that will include paintings of all the 5 senses. I have worked with the sight ones too. I'll upload them soon :)
Well, at least you know a little about art...your next painting should be a big black cock cumming on some silicone tits. If the Jews manage to destroy what little of our culture we have left, that will pass as art in twenty years....Don' say I didn't warn you.
billhill83 you paranoid ignorant cunt you suck. If you'd know anything 'bout art you'd understand that art is free. It doesn't matter what you create but it has to be emotional or at least provoke a reaction to the viewer.
You, sir, are an idiot cow. Art is free but there is always the necessary processs of winnowing the chaff from the grain. Go turn on your Jew box and watch some more T.V. dumbshit.
The paintings are done in realism style. Seems largely faithful to whatever photos were used. The uniqueness is largely towards the subject matter, because the technique is pretty average. Some color exaggeration especially with mouths.
Hi, these paintings are not bad, but they're not my style... (sorry). Why did you combine these with "This little babe"? I don't see any connection... And who sings it? It's a women's choir, right??
Dude. If they're not your style, you don't have to comment, just go elsewhere and find whatever it is that meets your style. I don't know if you're the one who rated him down, but I'll rate him up to rectify that.

Your oral fixation falls far short of Britten's beautiful and masterful music.

Interesting about the teeth shots- Brittens Father was a dentist in Lowestoft, Suffolk. The house is still there and still a dental surgery.

alexandergreenb 4 years ago
well... I also prefer men kissing women, but I think one should be tolerant and accept these things. There's no sense in keeping them secret. ;-)
I'd even say refusing to accept them is against human rights.

@ the artist: the piece is truly awkward and although there's no connection, I think it still matches some of the paintings - in a way. :)
