I loved the pictures, they are very expressive and, umm, effective. The only thing is the song... a quite bizarre choice... maybe the illustration of the fissure between youths and innocence? I really don't know if I understand this...

If the paintings appears as "scary" maybe it's because young people nowadays are hideous and scary. Young people were completely different in Britten's times. The paintings are based on unperfect pictures...closed eyes, wrong gestures, but the camera doesn't lie, neither the artist who painted these works.

In other words, we should think on why do we scare and feel uncomfortable with these paintings.

This is an example of the typical anything-goes approach to pseudo art. Someone takes a stellar recording of beautiful music and turns it into nauseating garbage while probably violating every copyright rule in the book. This simply stinks. Make your own 'art' or buzz off.

The paintings are rather dull. I prefer people who CAN actually draw to people who use photos. There is nothing wrong in it, from a moral point of view, but I simply think that real drawings have more power because they spring directly from the mind of the artist.

First of all, this recording is amazing, but I really don't see what the music has got to do with these paintings. Those paintings of teeth have absolutely nothing to do with either the music or the text which they are singing.

And: I'm not sure wether painting pictures after photographs is a complex and meaningful form of art. How about taking the "emo-touch" out of it and try to work with light and colours?

Either the paintings are entirely inappropriate or the music is . . . they certainly do not belong together. Britten is setting to music a medieval carol describing the infant Jesus as saviour of the world. What does that have to do with teeth? For that matter, what difference does it make what Britten's father did for a living? I find the violent contrast between Britten's music and these graphics totally repulsive.

Interesting about the teeth shots- Brittens Father was a dentist in Lowestoft, Suffolk. The house is still there and still a dental surgery.

Hmm, no, I'm 24, so I'm just starting with art. This were some paintings I did of mouths, at that time I was interested in Senses, like taste, sight, etc. Right now my works are focusing towards erotic themes. (Which you can already see in some of this mouth paintings). :)

The paintings are done in realism style. Seems largely faithful to whatever photos were used. The uniqueness is largely towards the subject matter, because the technique is pretty average.  Some color exaggeration especially with mouths.
