Hockey is a very physical sport and tempers boil over, most of the time having a big guy can deter some of the fights but when it can't a guy like him steps in and fights so the guys who are paid to score goals can do so

and if you didn't have fighting at all it would get more violent

nobody is a gonna take a stick to the nuts and skate back to the bench and forget about it
