They added an extra shop type. Look toward the bottom, make sure you open a Basic shop. The one they are promoting now is not intended for serious sellers. Basic shop allow you to make (a) what you set if YOU market the shop or (2) 10% only if sold through the marketplace.
Whether you get 10% or a lot more than 10% depends on whether the sale goes through the shop (you get whatever markup you set) or through the CafePress marketplace (you get only 10%). This month so far I have sold enough directly through my shop to earn a volume bonus. Naturally I don't get it ALL - For shop sales CafePress keeps only the base price, I keep the markup.
@dragonshire im thinking of opening a shop. which type of shop should i open do you think? And any marketing tips would be appreciated. Also, can i make a facebook page with my cafepress shop link on it? i have soo many questions. newbie here...help!
For a basic shop money never comes out of your pocket. When the customer pays part of the money goes to CafePress. That is the base price. Part of the money goes into your account as "pending". That is the profit you choose to set. The profit becomes yours in 45 to 60 days if the item is not returned. You might have to share your profit with an affiliate but that is just a little less profit, not something you have to give them.

Do the items in my shop appear when people are searching for it through cafepress or can they only buy it through my shop's page?

@DannyNQH If you did not "opt" out of the marketplace then the items you put in your shop will also be in the marketplace.
