  • T-Bird Boogie.

  • bon blues! bon harmonica! c'est fabuleux!!!!!

  • GREAT BOOGIE GROOVE NR.1

  • how can i get the lyrics to shes tuff

  • Billy on Strat, nice. KF on bass is fughetaboutit....

  • My two cents: I was lucky enuff to play on several bills w/Keith when he was with Tailgators, was his neighbor in South Austin in 80's/90's, and one of his many voluntary chauffeurs. Keith did not leave the T-Birds, he got the boot. He had framed royalty checks for less than a dollar on his wall, just total b.s. like that. He had nothing but love for Don Leady and Mike Buck. His last words to me, "Keep the vultures away from my mother." Miss you every day, El Mero Guero, con safos hermano

  • @TheRecyclist

Was in Austin from 81 to 89. A very special time. The music was great and accessible for student like me, the town was still small enough to get out of if you wanted. Felt fortunate to be there.

  • Keith muthafuckin' Ferguson....Ah paraphrase: 'The only time you should notice the bass is when it stops playin'.' We been noticin' a long time now, Mano....RIP

  • Great post, cheers bornblues. Has anyone got a hap tab for Kim's solo? I'd love to learn it. Don't think I'll get anywhere near that tone though!

  • very good

  • Yup, Bill Bremner guitar.

  • That doesn't look like Jimmie playin that guitar.

  • Awesome.

  • This is a classic piece of Harmonica playing by Kim Wilson, I love it!!

  • @OutOfThereSkulls. Really surprised when K.F. left the band. I saw him with the Tailgaters in NYC mid-eighties and thought they were great. Got the album too.

  • Didn't know this clip existed. Thank you very much. Quality is not bad either.

  • I completely agree! I would also add that IMO, Keith Ferguson was F-I-N-E.

  • just listening to tailgators in the last couple of days. i read somewhere leady still plays a lot in austin. its been my goal to visit austin for several years now, but havent made it. (long way from kentucky) i would love to spend a week or so there and check out the music scene.

  • @jcr23ky You should go! It isn't as far away as India is (which is where I'm from).

And yes, for the record, blue men can sing the whites.

  • @Insiddius Beautiful....right on, Vishnu

  • keith ferguson is my alltime favorite bass player. RIP

is that Buck on drums or Fran Christina?

  • I have heard a cover of this song. It's very good too. But that cover isn't on youtube so you others can't hear it.

  • The original version by Jerry McCain is wonderful and so is the other side of the release, 'Steady'.

BIG thanks for posting this - I missed the broadcast and was very disappointed, having seen the band twice in Birmingham in 1979 (?) and 1980. The 1980 show was astonishing. Kim had a phenomenal harp sound, he sang superbly, Jimmie only played what was right and what was necessary and the overall sound was amazing. It's a very sweet memory!

  • What on earth is martin belmont doin' here????

That turnaround he keeps playin' is sooooooooooo lame. Good thing Keith is bad as a mofah, as usual

  • I am fairly certain that this is Billy Bremner on guitar (not the Leeds centerback) the T-birds were on tour with Rockpile at the time, and Jimmy Vaughan had broken his leg. As good as Billy was, it just goes to show that you can't p*ss around with a bands chemistry....never thought the T-Birds were quite the same after Keith left.

  • Youre 100% correct, that is Billy Bremner on guitar.

  • yea....billy, surprisingly on guitar...

i know of the dave edmonds conection with both partys......

that may have played into it...

    dave....write a book!!

  • totally agree about the T-Birds w/o Keith, he was one of a kind.

did some great stuff with the 'Tailgators' too. i think Keith is one of the most important blues artists of the modern era.

  • yes it is billy bremner

  • It's fu****g tuff! GREAT STUFF!!!

  • you who can lay down a fat ass bottom larry "the mole" taylor the bass player from canned heat

  • Thanks Spencer , always loved Kieths playin , nobody laid the bottom like him

  • nobody laid down a groove like Keith Ferguson. With all due respect to Tommy Shannon and Preston Hubbard

  • +100

  • Yeah that's Billy Bremner. The T-Birds first came to Britain as the support for Rockpile in 1980. I saw them twice on that tour, and they blew me away. Billy's good, but he aint't Jimmie Vaughan! Looks like he might be playing one of Jimmie's Strats though. Yeah Jimmie broke his leg on the tour - when they came back to the UK a few months later, he had his leg in plaster, and sat on a stool all night.

  • anyone know what make of harp kim uses here and all of his other concerts. i know he's using a grenn ullet mic but cant tell which harp he uses, it sounds awesome...someone give me the key its in too please?

  • Antoni. Kim Wilson is playing a Hohner Marine Band. The microphone is Astatic JT-30.

  • keith is sexy

  • The guitarist is Billy Bremner who was playing with Rockpile at the time. Dave Edmunds produced the T-Birds in the mid Eighties. No Jimmie Vaughan, but fills in nicely with a nice march tone and feel.

  • thanks for the clarification, vernondenture, Billy Bremner of

'Switchboard Susan' (and other) fame, fits in well.

  • According to Mike Buck, that's Martin Belmont on guitar.

  • Thanks for the clarification, forthorton. I guess the great Mike Buck, who is drumming here, would know.

  • I think the guitar player is Dave Edmunds, who was producing for the T-Birds around this time.

  • This the Thunderbirds without Jimmie Vaughan, this could be right when he broke his leg about this time? Anyone know who the guitar player is?
