this song always reminds me of a ex girlfriend who's heart i broke so long ago, if you could go back and change one thing, i would go and unbreak her heart.
PLATINUM BLONDE-OUR CANADIAN VERSION OF DURAN DURAN!!!!! LONG LIVE THE EIGHTIESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! ALEXANDRA MARCELLA MANOLESCO-AMI XOXO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I heard this group is coming to Ontario Place on July 23, 2011 doing a free concert with paid admission. They will be at Echo Beach, the park's newest venue. It seats 5,000 and there is no reserved seating, so people can go and pick their own seat.
WTF went wrong? One minute were have a good economy, good jobs, and a good music to help us enjoy the life as it should be...next thing you know...the economy has tanked, our society is going down the toilette, and people are listening to shiity gangster-rappers singing about how they want to blow my head off? What happened? I think I better fix this!
@myunclesnephew Music is a reflection of the times, of society, of the current way of life. The music of the 80's was upbeat and poppy (even the sad songs) bcuz the economy was good and people could make enough money to afford The American Dream. Now...everyone is making shit money and music is all dark and angry...bcuz society has bcum dark...bcuz the rich are too greedy.
@chefshitpiece "Music is a reflexion of the times, of society..' yes good point, very well said. Our life back then was simpler yet seemed more fun and had deeper meaning. Much of today's music is lacking; they sing of superficialities because unfortunately, that is what life has become in this era of bling and technology
@musiclibrarygirl YOur pretty much bang on there. I think there are some real awesome songs out there today, but it's harder to find them bcuz of all the crap. I think WAIT UP (Boots OF Danger) by Tokyo Police Club is an example of an awesome song that is a really fun song. Im a musician...and I am starting up my own non-profit organization called Rockers Against Rock...otherwise known as RARGH!!!!!!
It must have been Mark Holmes large ego that convinced the Record Company to give Canadians the impression that Platinum Blonde made it big in the U.S.A.. Sorry Mark, great song but still a no-go in the U.S. market:(
My favorite Platinum Blonde and Video...I remember my classmates and I were singing this song in our High School chemistry class when we were bored...
@crackparty I don't get the comments about cheese - would you care to explain what is not cheese? Classic opera? Fateh Ali Khan? You're not cooler than these dudes, they were hip when it counted, you're just a square man!
@velvetfog And you're a man full of useless comments, aren't you. If I'm square because I don't have a haircut that resembles a poodle, square it is. :)
@Gio7426.. you're right- Honeymoon Suite and Platinum Blonde got screwed. I loved them both. (along with Bourgeois-Tagg, who went relatively unnoticed, and of course.. Duran Duran) Oh goody.. more obscure 80's music to track down and collect on CD!
yeah yeah.. and then use that turntable digital converter thingie to get 'em all digitized to go on the i-pod so's I can listen to 'em anywhere... LOL . what a process! ;-p
wow I haven't heard this in so long! I still have this album. I can't play it as I don't have needle for my turntable. Brings back memories. thanks for posting
Totally forgot about this song till I stumbled on this video, probably haven't heard it in 20 years. Really liked it as a kid, and still do. Thanks for sharing!!
Word of advice.......RELAX!! This may come as a surprise to you but there are people out there with opinions that might actually differ from yours. Deal with it!
are u kidding me right? They had WAY better songs way better image and musically were vastly superior. You obviously have never made dime one playing music and know nothing about song structure dynamics talent or anything else. Now be quiet, the grown ups are speaking and go make me some fries drive thru boy.
Here is a little impartation of musical wisdom for you junior...
1. The Alarm crushed U2 wasnt even a contest
2. Platinum Blonde is 1000 times the band D2 was
3. Anyone you like is a garage band you probably think the white stripes and nirvan are musical geniuses. (they are the srost bansds in recorded music).
Grow up get some talent and some taste doucherocket. Til then, go to your drive thru mcjob so be SILENT
4. I made more money yesterday playing music than you have all year.
Sadly, the guys were talking of a reunion before Kenny's death, I dont know if they are going to anytime soon, perhaps later..it just may not feel right for the guys. Seeing Kenny in this video makes me cry.
I m an 80's child & like many girls loved these guys., They still do hold a special place in my heart. Kenny's death, like many saddened me. "We love U Kenny, Rest in Peace."
I was born in 1971, and was able to enjoy the 80s music scene, this was one of my favorite songs by Platinum Blonde, thanks for the memories and vibe, rest in peace Kenny.
It was really nice to have briefly gotten to know you this summer Kenny. All of us at the House of lords are saddened by your death. You were a real sweety to us gals here. I told you that when I was a young girl I would listen to this song all the time.
I think in my highschool population of roughly 400 students, I was the only one who liked these guys, Depeche Mode, Adam Ant, etc etc.. Man I miss those days!
holy highschool.....wow its been a LONG time since I heard these guys saw them at k days in edmonton cant remember the year I just wanted sergios guitar haha
Ok, I used to hate Platinum Blonde back in the 80s but now I'm so nostalgic, I can't get enough of them!
