hi do you think that you could design a stirling engine to compress gas into a cylinder? I would have a use for such an engine that you may find interesting
They're using these to take advantage of solar power on a large scale now. One unit I saw can produce 25 kW under a sunny sky. I'm not sure of the efficiency or cost comparisons with solar cells, but I gather that it's cost competitive.
I for one have not seen a stirling engine run and i appreciate this video because i didn't know that they were capable of running at those speeds. Might have fuck all power, but its still very cool.
go ahead i'll just show them your above comment, and what annoy's me is that a lot of work went into making that and he didnt say that he was trying to change the world its just a demonstration of a model engine and you said it "ate balls" wtf? i would be pissed if someone rubbished my work like that. Just because you have a basic understanding of the science behind them doesnt mean you should discount the effort he put into making it.
who asked you to you freak for god sake why cant people just make a descant comment about the workmanship or something instead of finding a negative to hit on. nice engine doode.
You can't change to them, dumbshit, they aren't meant to take the place of car engines. Electric motors do that just fine. Stirling engines can, however, work in power plants and electricity for like satellites and maybe houses.
cyborg, i am under the impression that until batteries have better power density, most folks will need a heat cycle engine in their car... several web pages mention the possibiity of putting a stirling engine into a hybrid car, replacing the small gas engines that hybrids have.
its understandable that you think its fake, because its a very strange technology compared to how your conventional internal combustion engine works- have a look on wikipedia for stirling engines, and you'll get a sense of how they work.
but they do have stirling cars, study something before you look like an ass.

this thing is cool, but i thought stirling engines were supposed to be quiet?

This kind of heat engine would be great for running a generator off a solid fuel stove.
This is the kind of thing we'll be using when the oil's gone.
Few hundred years from now you'll have to collect sticks to make enough electricity for your electric car.

why not just put water in a cylinder, and heat the cylinder to create compressed gas?

man thats a nice sound, i could fall asleep to that harmony. very nice :) does this motor have a name?

They're still a bit more efficient and by far cheaper than photovoltaic cells...

I personally think that it's excellent. Someone showed what they could craft and build....what have you critics built lately??

stirling engines eat balls. ultra slow response time and incredibly low torque output. i aint changing to hot air engines anytime soon

they arent meant for cars u tard. the benefit is freedom of energy source.
