just to tell everyone i no longer own this setup. i agree it was bad gear, but for that time period and my limited experience i did what i could with the budget i had. as an afterthought if i had not been as concerned with space for luggage i would have increased the volume of the enclosures by a square foot each. that would have matched the resonating frequency of the subs and lead to higher amplitude/decibels.

there were also some small holes in the seals along the back of the boxes but i never had a chance to fix them as it takes over an hour to just remove the setup. it was a learners project, and the first of its kind for me. for how it performed i was thrilled, and for how it looked, i was proud. but alas things can never last. college and work have consumed my bulk free time and i must move on to bigger and better things.

also never buy Volfenhag. i blew 8 of their speakers with sub rated wattage. and as for the pyle subs and amps, they are over 3 years old and still run strong. not bad for budget subs.

dude get a freakin new radio. Get rid of the factory radio. A after market headunit will send a stronger and cleaner signal threw the RCA's into the amp. Sound quality will increase

i totally agree, that's why over a year ago i purchased a Pioneer in dash double din DVD player with ipod video capabilities, i also added 2 screens to the back seat. though this car now belongs to another. i no longer get to tweak it. :( on to bigger and better things.

Yea they are, but they're the best...Alpine Type R or Type X (Type X is the best outta everything)...but then ya got Kicker L7 Solo Barics that are like the second best.

with that kind of setup and to have that avalible power from the bats in the back, i'd put some Sundown Audio amps back there, a single Sundown 2000 would run the subs perfectly and probably meter higher. maybe a 150 if your lucky.

i think it looks awesome man ! i bet it sounds pretty damn good in person too. ive built some awesome systems with cheap gear.. and let me tell u , people with expensive high dollar shit , their jaws would drop hearing how good the cheap stuff sounded compared to there stuff. like 1 system i did was all legacy red series , the hole system cost about 400$ and sounded better than most 1000$ + systems.

140 db not a lot for the power but that is because the volume of the enclosure is about a square ft too small.

Actually, im lucky enough to hear a real sound system. I hope you know what im talking about. The ones where you can put your ear next to the speaker and it sounds no different. There is no vibration on any objects and everything is as if it's in your mind in 3d. Full height, width and depth with two speakers and so REAL its frightning. If it vibrates then it means the frequencys are out of balance. If I say each frequency has more than 1 job and they are all accoustically in relavance

If I said that each frequency has more than 1 job. The frequencys change as you move but self relate in a symetrical pattern. Part cancellate and part linerise. With one way speakers, sound comes from the center (Mono) but the image twists slightly as you move,(Slight depth and width). Thats easily corrected with tweeters, squakers, etc, can even throw the sound way above, around us and self balances the crosstalk. focuses the same for all listening positions. It's the best sound illusion ever.

if you want something to look this good put the 250 hours into it. spend a month designing/shopping, put it together slowly and work through all the flaws. make the necessary compromises to achieve your goal. my compromise was less enclouser volume for added storage space.these subs need at least 2/3 cuft more to be their loudest. i needed access to my spare tire and room to store a couple bags for my trip to michigan tech.

hey i have a question. not sure if you can help me. but in my dads ford ranger, tha back speakers seem really low. well i have a pretty new cd player in it, (pioneer) and put new pioneer speakers in tha back. no subwoofers or amps or anything, just speakers. well they are no louder in tha back than they were before. tha front is what provides most tha loudness. if you have any ideas about why hit me back

are the new speakers of a higher ohm rating than the front ones? if so it has more resistance and will not be as loud. i know speakers can come in 2, 4, 6, and even 8 ohm ratings. if the back are 8 and the front are 4 than they will have half the power going to them. and be around half as loud.

that just might be tha reason. but even tha stock back speakers were that low. and ive messed with tha eq and everything. if its not tha ohm rating i was trying to think of how it could be tha wires. but i was thinkin if it was tha wires then it would cut out completely at times

i just put a pioneer deck in this car and had the same problem. but it was a pioneer setting. out of the factory they come preset with the rear speakers set for sub woofer outputs. do they only play low notes and no voice. if so i would look online for the manual and see if you can find out where the setting is for that.
