This is Eric's most moving song. I think it touches everyone's heart. Because Eric is very sincere, he was able to kick the addictions, and has opened a clinic to help others. George Harrison was also a very good influence on him, and gifted him one of his Strats that had "Hare Krishna" engraved into the back. I would like to know the chord progression to Holy Mother if anyone knows, please. I think he uses the capo on the 3rd or 4th fret. Who is Richard Manuel ? The musician from THe Band ?
Such a talented professional duo Clapton & Collins are & what a privilege to have grown up listening to their fab music.thanks to them & all the other fab stars of the 80s for giving us what we don't get these days & that is real quality music!!!
yea you probably looked into his eyes and he stared back with nothingness in his eyes.. poor guy was probably high off his ass on heroine or drunk as hell. hes the greatest guitarist ever. me and my buddy always argue about it. but he is the best ever. im so happy that he is clean now and living a peaceful life. i enjoy his music a lot more now that we are both older.
This is my favorite performance of this song that he does because you can feel him putting his soul into it. In his singing, the lyrics, but especially the solo at the end. There might be a lot of great artists out there, but rarely have I heard guitar playing that stops your breath and makes you close your eyes because you want to feel it in your soul as well...No one else can do this as well as Clapton. Thanks for whoever posted this.
Eric Clapton is the most sincere ..soulful musician I have ever heard this side of maybe Duane Allman .....its his humbleness that makes this song ..I actually shook hands with the man back in 1978 and I looked into his eyes and I saw how fragile he was that night ...its like he was wondering why I wanted to shake his hand when BB King was in the house !! ...he actually stood behind me during BB's show before he got up there and joined him and I got his autograph later that night ...amazing nite
On the album Eric dedicates this song to Richard Manuel. This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Not a bad guitar solo at the end either.
