Dude. First finish college and get you're degree. Doesn't really matter what degree, just get atleast a Bachellors. Then if you're not sure about a long-term commitment in teaching english in japan. Then apply for TEFL, if not, then apply for either TESL, JET, or CELTA. I myself am going to do TEFL, cause I'm not going to be teaching in Japan for very long.

Yeah, start now and keep at it! It'll make things much easier later on.

You might start by tutoring the international students at your college pro bono.  I wish I had done that. It helps them, it teaches you, and it looks good on a resume/application....
