A phrase i don't get is expect the unexpected cuz if u expected the unexpected it wouldn't be unexpected it would b expected and the phrase wouldnt make sense...........

Sooo if oranges are good alone what's so negative about them? I guess they picked lemons because what kind of freak would enjoy lemons alone?
I've heard people say "Crack a window" (as in to open it) What is wrong with saying open a window? Crack a window just makes you sound like a mindless vandal.
"God Speed" is another confusing one, which means good luck, for some reason. Can't even begin to explain that one.
how is "break a leg" supposed to be encouraging? how can you eat cake without having it, and if you have it, not eating it is a waste of cake. just eat the frikking cake or give it to someone else! i hate it when people say "irregardless" because that's not a real word, and i also hate it when people say "yoo-hoo" or "any-hoo." don't ask me why, i just do.
i think it's because lemons are sour and usually when that phrase is said it is about a bad situation or sour situation if you will. but that's just my opinion
Eat like a horse, not eat a horse. But that doesn't make much sense either, because horses don't really eat exorbitant amounts of food considering their size. It should be eat like a shrew who consume several times their body weight all of the time.
I don't like the fat lady saying either, but my understanding is that it comes from operas and their climatic scenes.
Having your cake & eating it too is just silly. What else would you do with a cake but eat it?
