Toby, the guards are killing each other because there are two "teams". There are the Byzantines, who usually wear armor with red clothing accents. Then there are the Ottomans, who usually have more colorful armor. If they two sides' guards are lured together, they will fight each other because the Byzantines are invading Constantinople, and the Ottomans are defending Constantinople.
