I rooted my Nexus One and enabled pinch to zoom in the browser. If you're not ok with voiding your warranty, don't attempt to. I'm probably going to get another Nexus One when it hits CDMA networks so i didn't really bother thinking twice.
No, rooting it alone won't give you multitouch, there are three additional files that you need to push to the device that replace the browser with the exact copy of it but with multitouch.
How do get my Nexus One back to rooted? cause after I applied the Rom with the update it's not rooted anymore! How to fix?

No ROM, just rooted, there's only one ROM that i know of as of right now, i'm waiting for a broader choice before i pick one.

what? so once the nexus is rooted,multitouch is enabled?...so u just unlocked the bootloader?
